Yanks Lose Battle To Indians

with 8 comments

As a die hard Bomber  fan  I’m gonna pour my glass half full this morning, last night I was holding the ice and the doubles were filled to the top trying to  wash  away  what I thought was two of the worst  games this team  has played since the All Star break.

Yeah  Yeah Kluber, we get it, but again,  Kluber was pulling his practical jokes in the clubhouse by the 7th inning on Saturday  afternoon, and for 9 outs the Indians tossed Suit Case Atchison, and two guys Francona had never heard of before he became the Indians manager after being used as a scape goat in Boston and getting his pill  addicted, young girl  chasing butt fired after 2011.

Yesterday Tito was out of legit starters so he went on the warpath  with a kid who pitched his way into  the Cleveland bullpen in April, he got 5 Kluber like innings out of Kid Carrasco, 2 hits, no  runs, 4 K’s, a young man  from Taiwan, 1 inning, no  runs 2 K’s,  Suitcase Atchison again, 1 inning, 1 hit,  and the two  guys Francona has to  ask his bench  coach what  their names are Shaw and Allen

Francona escaped his visit to NY with  a 4-1 win and a road series win, 2 games to 1 over the NY Yankees who  rested on their series victory over the Tigers and their 10  run outburst on Friday night, but did nothing  for 18 innings in front of 90 thousand paying customers over a two  day  span this weekend.

Can’t expect guys to  play at 100% everyday, can’t just  run to  the clubhouse and pop  a few Greenies anymore so my glass half full is the Yanks cashed it in Saturday  and Sunday, and were looking ahead to  the O’s series and some instant gratification winning head to head with a team your trying to  catch

Yup  the Yanks lost the battle to  the Indians in an effort to  win the war with  the Birds.

“There’s something when you face the Yankees,” Carrasco said. “There’s something you feel in your body. You want to throw a shutout.”

Well  good job kid, and there you have it, the Indians were down  10-2 on Friday when they  ambushed Machine Gun Kelley, Huff and I’ll Puff Your Inning Away, Adam Warren, they  even got 2 knocks off Betances who  had to put his  uniform back on and try to stop the bleeding. The Yanks stopped hitting after the 6th inning on Friday Night and didn’t resume until Ellsbury woke up with 2 outs on Sunday and poked his 10th HR of the season to break 19.2 innings of scoreless baseball by the Bronx Bombers

Hiroki Kuroda proved once again come August his 38 yr old body is toast, despite him being the last  of the starting rotation still  able to  suit up, so kudos to him for that, but he’s an 80 pitch  pitcher at  this point, and yesterday he put the Yanks in a hole early and often, never got out of the 5th inning, and when  your offense has shut it down  for the weekend, that’s a bad formula.

The kid we wanted to  see on Friday night in an effort to preserve the tired pen and maybe give the older troops a shot in the arm finally made an  appearance in yesterday’s lost battle.

The 1 silver lining in this game was Rookie Bryan Mitchell who tossed 2 scoreless innings. He had some command issues his first inning, but shut down  the Tribe 1-2-3 in the 9th for two  solid frames and a nice comeback after the lead off walk in the 8th…

We’re gonna put as much  effort into  this blog  as the Yanks   put into  the last  2 Cleveland games, so not much…

Thanks to Noogsie for finding a  kool  article on Johnny Damon, we’ll  drop  that link right here

We’re never gonna see Damon  leaving a mensa meeting but he was a good ball player who  for some reason could never latch on to  a team after he finished up  with Cleveland at  the age of 38 in 2012

We last saw Johnny D playing in the Old Timers game this summer. I’m not sure I agree with his take that NY’s media is tougher then Boston’s to  deal  with, but like I said he’s not taking a break from The Center for Strategic & Futuristic Studies anytime soon, and he was probably oblivious to the Nation mentioning daily  he looked like Jesus but threw like Mary, tough  crowd those chowderheads.

The Yanks hopefully wake up in Baltimore the next  3 days, we’ll  see if our concept has any legs or if the team has finally run out of gas.

Credit to Teixeira for trying to play  with  3 stitches in his pinky, credit to Ellsbury for playing hard every game, unfortunately  Brett the Face of the Franchise Gardner and the Captain were of little help  on Sunday, add Beltran  and Prado  to  the useless pile on offense, and poor Frankie Cervelli took more shots then Cassius Clay took  from Ken Norton but he toughed it out despite not adding any fuel  to  the offense

The Yanks were 0-11 with RISP over the last  2 games

  1. I’ll say this those poor bastards that shelled out all that money to watch the boys go through the motions is highway robbery

Pa Pinstripe finally cracked around the 7th inning, saying we’ve had two full house crowds, they wanted to cheer and be loud but the Yanks gave them nothing to cheer about…

maybe next home stand Pa, that’s if the O’s don’t put an end to their season

  3. All the optimism of the Tigers series and the Friday night win out the window, just a horrible disgusting display of baseball all weekend. The team just cannot hit, period. The post game had KLong on it for whatever reason, what is he going to say, these guys suck? They are still in the second wild card “race” or consolation prize, but it is going to be real tough to catch the O’s since they never seem to lose. Thanks for the Damon article-I always liked him,he was a clutch player, something the Yankees are desperately lacking now.In the 2009 WS winning season, the 3 biggest clutch hitters, responsible for most of the miracle comeback wins they had were Damon,Matsui,Melky-
all 3 were shit canned after the WS,even though Matsui was the MVP and Damon stole 2 bases to win game 4.
The baseball lifestyle is a very tough one to let go of,the vast majority of players feel the same way Damon does.
Did he party too much? In the old days, all of them partied, loved being on the road.I sincerely doubt that things have changed behind the scenes, players may be a little more discrete with everyone having a cell phone camera.
Interesting to read about the sux with 25 players,25 cabs until Damon went there and changed their attitudes.

  8. Wear the Brooks Robinson T-Shirt Donny.. better yet, let’s get one made with the Yankee emblem circling the drain

Poor Damon, they shit canned him up in Boston too Big D, for all his trouble gluing that team together, they didn’t want to pay him.. tough league..

I bet his wife loves reading how bored he is at home lol… yeah players like getting their asses kissed, fans cheering, bags carried, meals cooked, laundry done, bed made, itinerary figurers out for them, playing cards, and groupies waiting to perform, sort of like musicians …..
