The Fake Playoff Run Continues

Photo’s from the Don B are in the previous post, we’ll post them when he sends them in that section

I’m a Buck Showalter fan, but he’s starting to get on my nerves, the Yanks could  do me a favor and take it to him tonight

When the Orioles present Derek Jeter with a gift during the Yankees final visit to Camden Yards next month, Buck Showalter has an idea.

“Get the picture of the home run that wasn’t a home run and have the Baltimore Orioles team sign it,’’ Showalter said of Jeter’s controversial home run in the 1996 postseason against the Orioles that umpire Richie Garcia ruled a homer despite youngster Jeffrey Maier reaching into the field of play and getting his hands on it.

Per GK the 2nd

The Yanks have until  the end of the week  to make an offer to Rusney Castillo the Cuban 27 yr old?? center fielder they  would like to  see play at  2nd base, because they already paid Ellsbury silly money to roam the hallowed pasture, while they let the best 2nd baseman in baseball leave.

Were the Yanks a better team  with Cano, Gardner and Martin for $317M or Ellsbury, McCann, and Beltran for $283M?

Also per  GK the 2nd 28 teams are in on the Cuban Bowling Ball and he’s expected to  rake it in  to  the tune of $35 to $60M per

Now if your Castillo  and you get equal value offers what  are you doing playing your natural position center field or 2nd base?

From the reports we read he came to  the private workouts  with a guy who hits fungoes, another who throws batting practice and a third man who kisses his ass and towels him off in between sessions. No  surprise Castillo is represented by Roc Nation, which is headed by Jay Z who  walked out on the Yankees once already in the Cano  negotiations

I don’t know what  to  say  except the Yanks blew it on Cespedes who  won the 2nd game in a row hitting a HR for Boston  last night, they blew it on Chapman, blew it on Soler,  Puig and Abreu, maybe they  should throw down  for the Cuban Ricky Henderson

Right now Boston with Ortiz and Cespedes around for 2015 and Bradley jr stinking up the place on offense, Castillo  would slot into  center field for them and Bradley could be made trade bait in a Stanton deal.

Then if they resign Lester in October you can  give that front office another gold star to go  with the salary dump shenanigans they pulled off in 2012 that  gave them  payroll flexibility which they  parlayed into  a World Championship

If they pull of that  sting it  makes Cashman  bringing in retreads at  the deadline look like buying a used car with  300 thousand miles on it

Once Hal misses the playoffs it should be interesting to  see if he keeps spending on 31 yr old free agents to  go  with the over the hill gang Arod, Sabathia, Teixeira, Beltran, and Prado, or does he try to get in on the Cuban Bonanza…. We do have El Duque to  make the kid feel  comfortable, that’s if he ever heard of El Duque, that’s if he’s really 27 yr’s old…

At least we won’t have Ichiro  to kick around anymore

Feel The Breeze

The poor Don went all  the way  to Baltimore but at least he didn’t have to  sit through another Yankee beating. He’ll be in attendance again tonight to  watch  the boys swing through Chris Tillman’s  high  fast balls which  should create a nice warm  breeze in all  that  high  humidity.. Tillman the Orioles starter (9-5, 3.73) is 1-1 with a 1.98 ERA in two starts against New York this year.

Curiously, he’s 3-5 with a 2.77 ERA at home compared to 6-0 with a 4.68 ERA on the road. Tillman  already  stumped the weak NY offense on Old Timers Day so  you can toss that  road ERA out the window against  this insipid bunch. You  would also  probably be safe in lowering his  home ERA, Buck  gets these kids sky high to play  the Yanks, he starts the tunnel  vision brainwash  days in advance

The Yanks will  counter with PineTop Pineda, for some reason he’s looking forward to making his comeback vs this line-up, man this could get real ugly if the offense keeps sleepwalking through AB’s

Good luck PineTop, and for Pete sake hide the damn pin tar tonight, you know Buck  will have installed a couple hundred cameras in all  strategic locations, including the clubhouse where PineTop  will  suit up

The Yanks will also  skip Kuroda’s turn in the rotation, which makes sense, he looked beat in his last outing

  1. hopefully it clears up for the Don’s sake.. As for the Yanks maybe it should rain a few more days, and possibly the Trop can spring a leak, or maybe the roof will crash down, hopefully with nobody in it of course, the Yanks missing both Tampa in Tampa and the O’s would keep their slim playoff hopes alive
