Yanks Receive Their Last Rights

with 6 comments

Well 1 more loss at the hands of the Don B’s favorite manager or 1 KC win and the Fat Lady gets to take over the proceedings, tune up  the band boys, take out the charts, from the top…

It’s nice to  see Bubba McCan’t start  to get warm, but the Pirates Buzz mentioned their top priority this off season should be Russell Martin who  they  also mentioned is the key to  their 2 playoff runs

And just in case we’re keeping score for the Bean counters in Levine’s office, Martin signed his deal  $17M for 2 yr’s, Bubba makes $17M per, for the next  4

Martin’s Slash : 294 .405 .437 .842

McCan’t : .235 .290 .411 .701

McCan’t does have 19 Bronx Taters 23 overall with 73 RBI’s with  115 hits

Martin 11 HR’s 67 RBI’s, 109 hits with 26 more Base on Balls

McCan’t 489 AB’s / Martin  371

Let Us Pray

Some how the O’s picked up  17 hits but only 5 runs, and somehow the Yanks actually had a shot to tie this game in the 9th inning but the Hollywood script writer called in sick.

With  two outs down by 1 run Brett the Face swatted a 75 foot infield single, and that  set the stage for yet another magical Derek Jeter moment!!!

Not so  fast Scorsese

Apparently Zach Britton the young Baltimore Closer didn’t want any part of the Derek Jeter Holy Grail farewell extravaganza and he just  blew three 96 and up MPH  2 seamer’s past the Capt who unfortunately looked like he was swatting away  a hornets nest full of ex girlfriends in a futile  attempt to put the ball in play.

Not a chance, and in a blink Randy Levine had to  cancel the newest Jeter T Shirt.  Levine and Trost’s  hopes of upping the average ticket for Thursday’s final Jeter game in NY to $900 per ducat went via the wayside too

You can still buy  a dirty sock  for a smidge over $400 bucks, they might still be in stock if your lucky, 2 more from last night, and 4 more on their way with two more games left, so get that  credit card out and stop messin around

Keep in mind if you don’t want to  spend the $410 bucks on the home stand  footwear, the sox from his Fenway games will  go on sale for $350, you Can  pre order to beat the rush

Cappy did keep his hitting streak  alive with a toe tapper infield single to short 3rd base in the 7th inning. The knock  preceded the Yanks loudest hit of the night a 2 run HR by Bubba McCan’t, off the toughest of LHP Andy Miller, who  for 1 pitch  temporarily lost his mind and threw a ball  that  got too much plate.

Bubba turned on it and in a blink the game was a nail  biter @ 5-4, but Tommy Hunter and Britton didn’t mess around after that, they poured gas on the last 7 Bomber batters and burnt 6 of them to  a crisp.

We also begrudgingly  didn’t get  a chance to  see the future ex Mrs Jeter  the  ridiculously hot Hannah Davis after the infield single. I know it’s tough to pick her out with her clothes on, but when the camera pans to  the Jeter clan after Cappy strokes a solid knock she’s the pretty girl with her hair tied back sitting next to  the pissed off mother who  constanly has to  ask, “and which one are you again”?

I ain’t lying, I was hoping for one last glance at Hannah if Jeets would have come through in the 9th, but he didn’t, so it’s the dirty socks or nothing

Brandon McCarthy who  was starting to price his way out of NY with one brilliant outing after another, came back  down to  earth last night with a pedestrian 5.1 innings, 11 hits, 5 runs, 8 K’s, 3 Taters

Former Orioles Slugger Kenny Singleton poignantly brought up  the fact that McCarthy was wild in the strike zone, another words he missed a lot of bats with his 94 MPH 4 seamer for which he threw 32 of his 92 pitches, but his secondary pitches like his cutter, curve ball, and sinker  got way  too much  plate and all of those type grips left the yard thanks to Kelley Johnson, Nick  the Greek Markakis and Nelson Cruz barreling up for Taters

The O’s had their hitting shoes on last night, no  clinched the division hangovers in this line-up, they also picked up 6 hits off of Hill and Rogers 1 each, and 2 each off of Betances and “Robinson”

Still  all  those hits and only 5 runs seems strange, the Buck O’s were 1 for 7 with RISP and they left 11 men on base

The brilliant Bomber offense was a stunningly clutch 0-8 with RISP and they left 7 mens on base

Then you wonder why the stage will be dark in the Bronx, and unless Hal eats a bunch of bad paper the middle of the line-up isn’t gonna get better, just older

Could the Yanks have made the playoffs with younger legs in the 2 Hole all  season, I’m not sure, because Beltran, Teixeira, McCan’t and Soriano  didn’t do  what  they  got paid to  do so we’ll never know

The crack  staff at P the B will get to  the bottom of this though, we’ll  see how the boys made out when Cappy was riding the pines in the weeks to  come, but that’s for another day, right now I’m hitting the bricks, my destination is the New Paltz Thruway  exit I’ll have my newly magic marker’d  cardboard sign that  reads

Desperate Fan, need money for Jeter merchandise, please help!

  1. that game seemed like it was a blow out no?

it did get exciting toward the end though

I read it might rain on Thursday, that might cock block all the fun

I’ll be out of listening and watching range starting on Thursday which is a bummer.. I need to find a booking agent that actually likes baseball, these music nerds are interfering with all my fun…

  3. Time is running out on our heroes,it seems they have more life this past week than they had the last month, actually scoring runs.Davidoff had an anti-Jeter celebration column that was interesting, then I saw that you can buy a used sock for $409.95!!!!! You can also get a game worn tampon from George Steinbrenners wife for $249.95!! That scumbag Brandon Steiner has destroyed the memorabilia industry.
McCarthy is really a mediocre pitcher, its possible last nights game was really closer to what he really is
instead of all those great outings he had when he first came here.I also saw that maybe Kuroda can come back for another season here! When are they ever going to learn about constantly signing old players?
Stenchiro has a good ba,was not injured-but when you really examine his stats, they are pathetic-1 hr,20 rbi
from a corner outfielder?? Pure garbage!!! He needs to be gone,it would take him 5 years to get to 3000
hits at this rate! With Jeter gone, its really time to clean house as best they can with all the bad contracts,
stop dumpster diving, and get younger players.

  5. hey fellas.. Donny if it rains Buck will rest all his 1st stringers so that works, not that it will matter at this point

Big D, yes Ichiro’s numbers are not good, his OPS is pathetic but you know how NY works, it’s a Brand name town, the pink Hats own the ballpark, so my guess those are the people that actually text in those votes

Ichiro is history is my guess…

I’d be surprised if they even pay Robertson, I’d give him the QO though, that will make it tough for him to get signed for big money.. Betances is great but they need that combination in the back of the bullpen

McCarthy might have lost some value last night, which could work in the Yanks favor…. agreed he’s a 4 or 5 in the rotation at best, but I’d rather see him as the 4 / 5 then say Phelps or Whitley who should be long men in the pen at best, or throw ins in a trade…

  6. here’s hoping Jeter sits out all 3 games in Boston, I’d hate to see him close it out in that shit hole… Mo sat out once the YS games were over, hopefully Jeter will do the same
