Is This How They Drew It Up?

with 10 comments

Well so much for the Yanks getting younger at  2nd base in 2015, per usual Cashman gets cold feet when it comes to  giving one of his minor league prospects a shot, as the Yanks, pending a passed  physical, have inked Steven Drew to  a 1 yr $5M plus incentives contract.

The speculation   among the media is Drew comes back to  the Bronx to  play  2nd base which eliminates Rob Refsynder or Jose Pirela from  getting the gig?

Or does this mean Sir Diddy and 1 or 2 highly touted prospects are on their way  to Philly in a Cole Hamels trade?

Right now with Jimmy Rollins traded to LA, the light hitting Freddy Galvis is the Phils only depth  at  SS, and per Rosenthal  the Philles had a crush on Sir Diddy, they  also wanted Judge for Byrd last July

Is Cashman  setting up  a Gregorius, Judge, Severino to Philly for Hamels?

Anyway here’s the intel on Drew, the spin why Refsynder and Pirela might not be ready

This deal makes sense as depth, but it makes no  sense if you look  at the line up especially 8-Drew, 9- Gregorius 1- Ellsbury, 2- Gardner

That’s a lot of LHB’s that  don’t exactly mash LHP

Yanks also need to  lose a player off the 40 man so  this Drew deal has to be a piece to  a bigger puzzle, either that or Cashman  has completely lost his mind

  1. This is a very weak hitting infield.. I know the Blind Boys are spinning it as middle infielder don’t mash anymore but these guys are putrid and way too many LHB’s would have to hit in succession

Gotta be something bigger in the making

  2. The Yankee roster is beginning to take shape-unfortunately its in the shape of a turd. Did you hear Madden on wfan or read his column about Piazza? I just wish all of the nonsense about the Hall of Fame and steroids would go away-how can Bonds and Clemens not be in it? A joke.Anyway,I want to apologize for posting that there were 90+ days until spring training-I misread or my meds did not kick in correctly-its
90+ days until opening day! Spring training is about 4-6 weeks away.Arod also posted a photo of him supposedly fielding grounders at 3b-dream on!!!!!!!!-lol

  3. I think I have to agree with you Sal. There MUST be something else in the works. Or maybe Cashman has been sampling ” a friend of ours ” lethal brownies! How else to explain this? You’re right, presently constituted, this infield is a offensive nightmare! On the heels of a mostly Punch & Judy outfield, where is the offense coming from? Overall, I hate what they’ve done this off-season. At this point, there doesn’t seem to be a clear cut plan. I’m not going to regurgitate what’s transpired so far, but, WTF!!!!

    • hey Bondsie, I was shocked when I heard this on the radio last night…

As for Martinez, Did anybody hear Glavine, or Maddux last yr or Smoltz and Johnson this yr whine about being clean in a PEDc era? No, so why is Martinez bringing it up like it’s some badge of courage

give me a break El Pollo you head hunting punk

Nice right had by Gerald Williams, my favorite Martinez flash back

  4. hey Big D, a typo , happens all the time, no need to apologize, it feels like 90 days until ST lol

Taking shape of a turd hahahaha….

I didn’t read the article but I did see it, I tried to stay away from the HOF stuff, it’s a popularity contest more then anything, plus it was obvious that little chicken shit Martinez was a shoe in.. I will check out the Madden article on your recommendation though

Then Nation got a little peeved at this article ( link below).. we had to piss in Martinez’s gummy dish on the Boston sites this morning, they think that little prick walks on water.. Great pitcher, but when they start to kiss his ass and call him a gentleman that’s when the gloves come off for me

just take the honor and STFU about PED’s you little phony scum bag.

With the juicers he hung out with, why wouldn’t folks suspect him, maybe not sticking a needle in his butt, but maybe Martinez forgot there are a million other PED’s that guys have gotten busted for using

Martinez keeps trying to prove he was clean, maybe he was but his best buddy Ortiz, wasn’t, so pipe down son

  5. I personally think “the Dominican Dandy” did steroids along with all the Dominicans, especially the ones on the sux-Pooopi,Manny,Nomar,etc Everyone seems to forget all the batters he hit deliberately, including Jeter and Soriano back to back that knocked both out of the game! I read your link to the Cleveland article,
my sentiments exactly. There was nothing I loved more than the Yankees knocking the shit out of him in the 09 World Series!!! F him!!!!!!

  6. Hey Sal, thanks for posting that video. Brought back great memories of that putz Pedro getting his clock cleaned! Great shot by Williams! I walked into the Stadium and just got to my seat on the 1st Base side in the infield ( I used to get great seats from my suppliers) when Pedro plunked Jeter & Soriano sending them to the hospital. Despise him!!!! I was at the Aaron Boone game, and I can’t tell you the noise level in that place when the Yanks got to him when Grady Little left him in the game a little too long! Deafening!!! Regarding the Drew signing, if Cashman is now getting cold feet in having Didi play short, and having Drew move over from 2nd if he can’t cut it, then why the fuck did we give up Greene!!!! For 4 or 5mm more, we could of had Prado and his 11mm salary AND still have Shane Greene, a salary controlled pitcher, for the next few years! Makes no fucking sense! How are we better today than before we made that trade? So, when the Yanks DFA Private Ryan, now that the infield has changed, do the Mets pick him up? Shit! The Mets shoulda signed Drew! They desperately need a SS!

  7. And, what does that tell you what the Yanks really think of Refsnyder & Pirella? They don’t think they can handle it, right now. At this point, I’d love to see what they got. Really liked Pirella, based on the cup of coffe he got this Sept. Liked his intensity, athleticism, and he seems to have some tools.

  8. Agree with you Moscone about Shane Greene. A really dumb move compounded by the fact that there are so many question marks with the starting rotation.

  9. Ain’t that the truth Noogsey! I don’t get it. Trouble is, I don’t think they do either!!
