The AL Least

Ken Davidoff mentions how Boston has surpassed the Yanks after what  they  did this off season combine that  with  what  the Ysnks didn’t do  and what  they’re counting on and you have odds at 25 to 1 they  win the World Series, only the Rays trail  the Yanks at  60 to  1.. Looks like Davidoff has the Bombers in  3rd place behind Toronto 2nd  and Boston  1st

Boston  doesn’t have an Ace, but who  does in the AL East? Cobb, Tanaka?, Tillman, Stroman, Porcello..

Here’s my question, with the offense Boston  put together and no killer pitchers in the division, who  needs an Ace?

Davidoff mentions all  the pitching Boston brought in as an  asset, maybe he forgot they lost Lester, Lackey,  Miller, Peavy, and Doubront, resigned a 40 yr old closer Uehara for 2 yr’s  who  last seen was sucking wind, and replaced Miller with Breslow.

What  they  have now is

Porcello ERA 3.43

Buchholz… ERA 5.34

Miley ERA 4.34

Masterson ERA 5.88

Kelly ERA 4.20

Workman ERA 5.17

Ranaudo ERA 4.81

Davidoff is spot on about the Yanks, they’re a mystery,

“The Theory of Everything,” as no team has a greater range of outcomes, from everything going right to everything going wrong.

Your better off trying to figure out what women are thinking then  trying to  figure out how this mess in the Bronx will fare

Simply Bonding

It’s always good to hear A-Rod is working hard at  his return, this little diddy, states Sir Alex is working with  the master Barry Bonds this off season. Sounds good, keep up  the excellent  work Alex, unlike Cashman, we’re counting on you

The 2015 Odds

Sorry Hal but you have no  choice

Moncada will beef up  the farm  system, the Yanks only have $300K to  spend on IFA for the next  2 yr’s after the June deadline, this is almost  a Duh that  they ink the Man-child Moncada, anything less then a contract and Cashman better have  conclusive evidence why they  didn’t bring the kid in

Itchy Might Retire in Fla

Buster Olney recently had the Marlins rated as having the top Out field in baseball, why not, with Stanton, Ozuna, and Yelich I agree, but I guess Olney doesn’t count depth  as a priority.. The best Out field in baseball is looking to  ink Ichiro as their 4th OFer…That  would give their depth chart both Prado  and Ichiro as back up’s…

If they ink The Human Flyswatter for the reported 2 yr’s he could  possibly break  the 3000 hit mark, he’s a 150  something knocks away…That’s an average of 75 singles a season.. Good luck Itchy!

  1. If I had to rely on my ability to know what women are thinking…….I’d be worse off than I already am…..

  3. I do not have a very high opinion of Davidoff. I think he is very sloppy with the facts.
Several years ago he wrote an article about a particular player’s salary, which was the focal point of the article. The salary was way off and I emailed him, told him so. It was an easy find to get the correct salary and I also told him that he should be embarrassed for writing something so slanted for so many people to read.
Davidoff got back to me almost immediately. He acknowledged that he was wrong. He did not apologize and incredibly told me that he was not in the least embarrassed for writing something so factually incorrect.
That told all I ever needed to know about him.

    • Noogsie Davidoff aka AlwaysOff had a $210M payroll posted last week… The yanks don’t care about cash going out, they’re loaded, they’re concerned by paying 50 cents on the dollar because they’re over the tax limit…

Beat writers need to work harder at figuring out the AAV, not just copy and pasting what Cot’s contracts has, posted…

      Man $240M AAV that’s sick

  4. Sal with all of your detail to finances, you should have been a CPA!! Saw that Aroid and Barry Bonds are working out together-that shouldn’t raise any red flags!!!-lol Yanks may be going back to WPIX the former home of the Yankees but the Mets are also broadcast on WPIX-should be interesting to see how it works out.
Hot Stove was on the other night,I did not watch even 1 second of it,saving electricity.Nothing to talk about, nothing is going on with them. The AL East has gone from baseballs toughest division to one of the weakest, which certainly helps the Yanks.

  5. Hey fellas, good stuff.. unfortunately with accountants running the show we have to not only keep track of the players and the game but what it cost because Hal is killing their chances to win, so every penny now counts, something we in Ny never had to worry about

Why Scherzer is in Washington and not NY.. Almost $240M AAV on the books.. that’s just sick and really bad management from the GM, to the scouts, to the Farm directors, to the owner, disgraceful

  6. Thanks for the heads up Noogsy. I never really cared for Davidoff. Since 2012 (when Jeter led MLB in hits) he and Sherman have played a tag team match on who could diss Jeter more. I think Sherman eventually won that match……with Davidoff a close second. Great idea for Arod to work out with Bonds, huh? WTF is he thinking about? He was doing a good job keeping a low profile & working out, listening to his older half brother. Now this. It makes you scratch your head.

  7. here’s another pretty good payroll site.. all the teams are listed.. Spotrac usually only had what cash went out but now they’re including the AAV.. come on Davidoff snap out of it..

  9. hahahahaha.. mikey is heaven with this stuff… Mikey said the NFL was in deep deep shit over the Ray Rice thing, now it’s who’s Ray Rice?

Mikey thinks the NFL is gonna crumble lol

I do hope they bust Bill’s balls next week, not that I have anything against him, so he’s a cheater lol…. but it’ll make the Red Sox fans a bit uncomfortable..

  10. S. F. Giants released Marco Scutaro,,
is he washed up enough for Cash-less to sign ?
    I wanted him 5 years ago,, 😠😠😠😠

  11. Scutaro has a bad back so he would fit in perfectly with the Yanks.Cashman came out and said that the
reason they could not spend a lot of money this off season was Aroid and his contract!! Talk about throwing someone under the bus-lol Blame Aroid for everything this season!! The circus is coming to town soon but the previews are now showing!!

  12. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/01/red-sox-notes-pitching-diamond-betts.html

    hey Boys…A-Rod’s a jerk but he’s our jerk in another month, let’s light candles for 25 HR’s 70 RBI’s

I would hope Cashman thinks they have enough vets, so Marco probably is a no.. Pirela might be a favorite, he can platy a few positions, and he’s not enough of a prospect to have to stay at Triple A is my guess… Let him try to be Brock Holt would be my vote

  13. I started lighting candles already. We only saw him for a cup of coffee, but I really liked a lot iof what I saw in Pirella. Which I’ve said before. He’s not quite a kid, but still young enough. I thought he provided a lot of energy, swung a decent bat, plays numerous positions, has some speed & range. I hope they give him a shot. I hope your hunch is right, Sal.

  14. @JohnSheaHey reported A-Rod attended hitting camp run by Barry Bonds. I guess speed camp with Ben Johnson is next #Yankees

    Funny quote from Sherman

The poor Nats need a closer
how about Betances, Sanchez, and Refsynder for Harper? Sign Moncada, and ink a hack closer like K-Rod….Its a bridge yr anyway and you now have one of the elite young sluggers in baseball..sluggers are like diamonds during WW2 in this era

Sanchez is blocked, Refsynder is swapped out for Moncada, and Betances is the hurt factor in any good trade

  15. As much as I’d hate to lose Betances……….that’s actually a good deal, on several levels. Yeah, I agree, let’s go get ’em!
