No doubt a reason  why Stephen Drew is in Stripes

This season’s voodoo doll will be dedicated to Mookie Betts..

Red Sox fans like BK should be very scared, the Paint the Black VooDoo doll’s past victims are Carl Cawford, Bobby Valentine, Jackie Bradley Jr, and Xander Bogaerts…..Don’t worry PETA, we use rubber chickens and $100 Italian wines donated by Moscone Wine Cellars ( Sellers)

Ace Bandage

Yesterday Michael PineTop Pineda impressed his manager, and there are early signs there is a new Sheriff (Ace) in town

Pinetop got off on the wrong foot with us Bomber fans, after all NY media darling Jesus Montero, the best prospect the Yanks have ever had ( hyped) was traded for the bad winged righty.. Then he came to  camp  fat  and out of shape, then he missed 2 whole seasons. Last year  he finally made some starts (13) he put up  a .500 winning percentage, but his peripherals were off the charts good

76.1 innings / 56 hits / 59 K’s / 7 BB’s / 0.825 WHIP / ERA+ 206 ( adjusted park factor average is 100) David Cone’s favorite metric FIP the stat that measures a pitchers effectiveness at preventing HR’s BB’s HBP and causing strikeouts was 2.71.. ( In the last  15 yr’s league average has been above 3)

Long story short if PineTop  can  stay healthy we got us a real  good one, maybe the best in the AL East, throw in Tanaka and the Yanks arguably have the two best  starters in the Division. I’d add Cobb and Stroman  who  are bumper to  bumper with the two Bomber Aces

Usually we don’t take anything Girardi  says to heart, but the Yanks have been taking it on the chin all winter so  we need to  paddle down  stream here with Pineda despite who  the messenger is. We’ve all  seen him at his best  so I’m gonna use this grain of salt to  flavor my kool aid

“The three pitches he’s got. His command was outstanding and the movement was great,’’ Girardi said. “His slider was good and his changeup was good. He threw a ton of strikes. He is a strike thrower. You look at a lot of his games last year and there isn’t a high pitch count. He is very efficient and that is great.’’

Yanks open the Grapefruit league today  at 1:05 vs the Phillies

Adam Warren will be the first Yankees starter of the spring, getting the ball in the Grapefruit League opener against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday in Clearwater.

Looks like Severino  and Lindgren  will  also be on tap today. Tomorrow Eovaldi  gets the start and Wednesday Rogers vs the Pirates.. Miller and Betances will  go on Wednesday too

A Shout out to Pretty Ricky

It’s not right that a Cuban 19yr old gets paid 30m and the best 19yr old in the entire USA gets prob 1/6th of … http://tmi.me/1eZIv4

I’m Hoping the Yanks Re-define the Closer Role

The media is grasping for buzz articles, unfortunately for them the Elephants shit all over their pre-meditated A-Rod Circus production.. I guess they  didn’t realize most NYY fans would rather read War and Peace then yet another A-Rod article

At least  let the guy play  some games.. The closer battle they’re now trying to  drum up is about as tantalizing as that Hughes Joba battle for the 5th  starter role, when  everybody knew Hughes was the anointed one..Both  guys are failed starters, both  guys are more apt to pitch multiple innings then say  career reliever David Robertson

Let’s just  hope both pitchers stay healthy.. Miller’s numbers indicate he’s pretty good in any leverage situation. He logged 8.2 innings pitching the 9th, but if there was ever a pitcher / batter match-up case scenario it’s having both Betances and Miller at Girardi’s disposal…Our best bet is both  guys are interchangeable, much more flexibility, something the Yanks will need if the rotation starts to leak

  3. Hey, thanks for the shout out Sal. Moscone Wine Cellars will make sure you get a hefty discount on all future purchases. The Yanks are fortunate that they really have the horses to redefine the closer’s role. And that very well might happen this year. And wouldn’t that be something. Redefining something in Baseball that didn’t have LaRussa’s name attached to it! Boys, I’ll be outta town tomorrow for the next week, so you won’t see my feeble responses during that time. Hope everyone has a great week and I don’t come home to any devastating Yankee injuries.

  5. Sal – Not worried about the voodoo doll….we’ve got the boyos up in Beantown weaving a large assortment of ancient Celtic curses on the Yankees…in particular on Texeira…it would warm everyone’s heart in Boston to see ARod on first base…

  6. A comical/sad commentary on the present state of the Yanks. Every year I pick up the Yankee Calendar which adorns the side of my refrigerator. Every month features a player on the front, which is usually a star player. I just turned the page to March, and I was greeted by a picture of Brenden Ryan of all people. If it wasn’t sad, it would be funny!
