Yanks Ty One On

with 6 comments

The Yanks got in the Win column yesterday  with  what  will no doubt be a customary type score this season, a 2-1 victory over the Pirates. The buzz for this non televised game was an 8th inning Tater from Tyler Austin who  along with Aaron Judge are the only two Bombers who  have showed any resemblance of power, maybe it has something to  do  with them  being young

The Red Sox came out last night and pounded in 8  runs, but the point of contention is, Pedroia who has been a target with  two  injury induced down  seasons went 3-3 with a monster Salami, and Bogaerts who  also has a bulls eye on his back mashed a two  run Tater

Pedroia took the heat off of Loud Mouth Joe Kelly’s 1.2 innings, 7 hit, 4 run thumping at the hands of  the Twins, not exactly the 61 Yankees….

Now we need Teixeira, Beltran,  and McCann to  walk the walk  after hearing how all  three will  bounce back from terrible seasons, Spring Training or not, show us something besides warning track power boys

From what  we read Emil Rogers pitched 2 innings, 1 hit no runs.. Also  it was good to  see Garrett Jones and Rob Refsynder get 2 hits apiece. Ref’s two knocks ought make the Drew Boo’s a little bit louder today  and tonight at GMS in Tampa

Sherman can’t help himself, first he mentions 3 of the LH relievers can get both RH and LH bats out then he says it’s the wrong time to get the LHP because there is a lack of LHB in the division

plus Fenway Fats might turn around to bat RH but he morphs into Private Ryan from the right side

just sending Ortiz back to the dugout moaning is worth it

  2. Sal–I echo your thoughts on Big Grand Papi. I looked a little at his numbers just now. He was released by the Twins, following the 2002 season at age 26, and never made as much as a million dollars a year with them. Never hit more than 20 homers and had more than 71 rbi’s in a season.
Ortiz then comes to Boston as a Free Agent and for the next 5 years, he is a 4 time All Star, and is in the top 5 for MVP every year. He has now been an All Star 9 times and has hit as many as 54 homers in a season and driven in over 140 runs in a season for the Red Sox.
He must be a late bloomer. Or maybe something else?

  3. hey noogsie, Grand Papi is teflon everywhere but in New England, but it is very strange that he just keeps getting better and better .. He looked done in 09, he had 50 less strike outs in 2014 then in 09, so his bat speed must have increased and his plate coverage / contact-ability increased also, juxtaposed to your findings… the only guy to do that was Bonds.. has to be the flaxseed oil

I wonder where they sent that drug test for Moncada, some how Fed X lost another one…. Castillo injures his oblique, and now Olivira has pulled up lame

Saw a bit of Bryan Mitchell today, the kid looked pretty good, how wonderful would it be if he just bullied his way into the starting 5, or at least maybe come up in May, my guess if they did that the Yanks could still wait until 2016 to start his clock, not sure about that, but I don’t think his brief call up last yr counts toward his arbitration timeline

yeah he pitched 1 game in August and 2 in Sept, so a May call up stalls his clock is my guess

  5. Mikey 221 pre-empted today. Fox Sports 1 is carrying Nascar practice and Fox Sports 2 is covering a snowboarding event. Has to be a big blow to the big guy’s big ego. It’s all big.

  6. hey Noogsie.. I flipped on 221 and he’s building football teams through the draft, had to immediately bail, lucky I was near wireless and was able to keep the yanks phillies on the iPad.. tough month for the big boy, he really has to work creating dialogue, and has no interest in watching or researching young players in MLB

lol snowboarding.. hell of a contract you got there #1.. I’m presently working with a few dudes who are legends in their own mind, going through life delusional might not be so bad for those guys and 221, unfortunately they have to drag us with them..

another week and mikey can put on his bobby knight hat
