Sabathia Roc’d

with 11 comments

J-Z’s Roc Nation’s newest client  CC Sabathia made his 2015 debut last night with mixed results, One good inning one, one bad.. YES made sure we didn’t worry about the results, unless he would have had two  good innings, then they  would have fattened you up  for the kill..

Jack Curry has become one of the most annoying listens on TV, the guy  now ranks up  there with Waldman, Sterling, and Bourbon Bob as YES Network shills, it’s almost embarrassing, actually it is embarrassing

A-Rod has no range, that’s why he’s a DH,

Headley puts those types of hits ( Navarro 2nd inning  knock) in his back pocket so maybe Sabathia’s 2nd inning looks different with  the first  string in there.

The off speed pitch at around 27 pitches in just  floated / rolled  up  there to Viciedo and  a solid 2 bag gapper  plated the first  run off him. The meatball  to Travis was vintage 2014 Sabathia, hopefully he gets better as we move forward, and his stamina increases, only a great play  by McCann  saved a potential Sabathia mugging in the 2nd inning

Sabathia needs his 84 change up with late movement down to work off of his 93 FB.. I thought the gun was goosed last night, it read 96 on occasion, probably more like 92, but the change had some dumpster funk to it

He also needs his slider sharp, which it was in the first inning, but his change up and his repeatability are the most important for command and location.. He might be successful, but only if he can get that 10 MPH differential in FB / Change, so 93 / 94 is paramount

If the knee acts up he’ll lose his release and his mechanics

Talk of Sabathia being the opening day  starter should really subside, but then  again YES has never been  shy spinning a Tall Tale

Yanks have a good infield defense, they’re back ups, hopefully Pirela who  can  flat out rake and Jones might be more hit then D, guys like Sabathia have no  room for error

NY has no one who scares you in the middle of the order, nothing new there Re: Teixeira, Beltran, McCann, A-Rod.. they have enough pop to find the seats when they can barrel up a pitcher’s mistakes, like a lot of MLB hitters.. They’re not Bautista, Encarnacion, Davis, Ramirez, Ortiz, or Napoli, no

Beltran  going against traffic in the first inning nice to  see.. Tex going Big Fly also  a positive

Gregorius made a nice play in the hole, but looks  clueless at the plate. Bird had a chance to extend his legend but 2nd and 3rd 1 out down, 4-2 he whiffed.. Pirela continued to piss off Cashman by continuing to rake, making Private Ryan an obvious $5M mistake, we can only hope Pirela gets his chance

Betances for the 2nd straight game got hit hard, hopefully he’s just  working on something, but his command seemed off, his fast ball hittable, his hook just  rolling up  there like a meatball… Betances should start  to  dial it up in the next  2 weeks or the question marks are gonna start rolling in…as well  they should.. Only a caught stealing saved Betances from a long inning

His next outing should be interesting

  1. Sabathia was better then I thought he’d be, Yanks can’t give teams extra outs with him on the mound

hopefully he gets stronger as we move forward.. and Sabathia has over $70M coming, that’s a lot of money for a back of the rotation pitcher, you bet your ass he’s nervous.. the Sabathia ass kissing in Ny is finally over, this guy is killing the payroll

hopefully Gregorius gets a clue at the plate, I hated hearing the YES shills say as long as he can hit in the 240’s his D will carry him, bull shit, they gave up a young kid pitcher for this guy he better be a lot better then that offensively…

  2. Curry is worse than Brickhouse, you expect some real analysis from him.CC looked fantastic in the first inning, seemed to lose it halfway through the 2nd and it would have been worse if they didn’t throw out a runner at the plate.CC says he is feeling fine, lets hope thats true and he gets better as he gets more innings in.I just hope Betances is not going to fall victim to the good year/bad year lots of relievers have,
he has not looked the same this spring. Ellsbury injured AGAIN, missing “just a few days”,deja vu!!!
Tex homered the other way, maybe something will register in his pea brain and stop trying to pull everything and batting .216. Watching the game last night, they gave the spring batting averages for the regulars and it was nauseating, they need to start hitting asap. The most surprising thing about the broadcast last night was Bourbon Bob and Flaherty not wearing anything green!!!

  3. hahahaha green lol…

hey big D… lets hope CC gets stronger, I’m rooting for him, believe it or not lol

Tex going across traffic was a good sign pea brain lol….

and yes those damn relievers are unpredictable, we can’t afford him slipping up.. I’m hoping he’s just a tad off kilter being 2 weeks away

  4. And my favorite guy, Gardner, continues to get a pass. The reason for the great play at the plate was because
Evel Knievel in left field had his GPS system malfunction. Add that to his putrid at bats–he now has three singles for the spring and is at a robust .115. That, along with his sub .200 average after the All Star break last year, are causes for concern. He’ll get a pass until he’s probably 38 years old.
I hate that fucker. Can you tell?

  5. It was good to see Tex hit a opppo HR. That 96 was a juiced gun b/c the batters swing & miss at 96 CC stands for Cant Count on….

  7. Some observations from last night. CC looked outstanding in the 1st, then lost it in the back end of the 2nd. When the gun registered 96 a few pitches in, I almost fell off my chair. He hasn’t hit that in 3 years, so I knew something was up. Curry has become an annoying shill spewing the company line. But I think Bourbon Bob is still the worst, on the TV side. Even he has a long way to go reach the level of Ma & Pa Yankee on the radio side. That, is just unlistenable. Good luck if you’re looking for the score on the radio side. That’s baseball, Suzan! The law firm of Texeira, Beltran, & McCan’t have a new partner in Arod. Although, he looks better than I thought he would at this point. Still, you’re right Sal, nobody in the middle scare anyone. So far, Betances look ordinary. Part of the problem, I think, is that his velocity isn’t there yet. And, maybe because of that, there’s been no bite on his breaking stuff. Hopefully, this all gets straightened out as his velocity increases thru ST.

  11. hey fellas great stuff thanks for the updates, heading to the archive now, nice line by Tanaka.. Ream and reap boys.. worked like a charm lol….

Gardner is the reason WAR isn’t all that as a go to stat I wouldn’t give that guy $5M per yr no less $52M for 4

He’s the only frigging home grown Yankee they have to wax his sorry ass, I don’t blame noogsie…

    can’t count on him hahaha

Now the doughBoy is out, those oblique’s can be tricky.. meanwhile Cano is favorite to go to the World Series…and Boston looks like they’re replacing the Doughboy with a kid Betts for peanuts …..

give them shit over there Donny, let us know if you need consul, we’ll send Moscone in to settle all family business…

Moscone the front row of our recent shows scare me more then the middle of this line up…….be-careful out there MILF hunting
