Say Hey, The Yanks Show Buck the Door

with 17 comments

Congrats to ARod

on eclipsing the Say Hey Kid’s 660, Alex planted #661 into Monument Park  to beat Sour Puss Showalter and his Fighting Baltimore Showalters 4-3..

It wasn’t pretty until  the Pen  arrived but Nate “Phil” Eovaldi was good enough to Win and the Yanks get a leg up on the 4 game series with a game 1 Win

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t ARod’s 660 beat Boston, and now # 661 took  down Buck’s Money Ball Crew, well it helped take down old Bucky, it actually gave the Yanks a temporary 1 run lead

Here’s the  way it works Buck, you lose a lot in baseball you get to  rape the top of the draft, so  hence you and the Mets are joined at  the hip….

Buck’s return to  NYC hasn’t gone well, so  far he’s 0-3, it would be nice to  see him leave the Metropolitan area 0-6, but we’ll  take 1-5, in fact if the Yanks want to get back to  running the table on Winning Series, they’ll have to  beat the Buck O’s 2 out of the next  3 games

Last night Nate Eovaldi owner of the 2nd highest velocity in baseball, 95.8 behind Kelly and ahead of Ventura, Harvey, and Salazar ( they’re all milliseconds apart so it’s kind of a joke) got his 3rd win of the season, thanks to his stout bull pen

Eovaldi 5.2 innings, 6 hits, 3 Runs 3 BB’s 3 K’s, ( kudos to Chris Davis) 2 HR’s, 3.97 ERA, despite his 3-0 W-L record  is still a Pepto-Bismol night if your a pitching coach, or a manager, or a fan, because the real  telling stat (reported last night) was his pitches are hit hard 39.2 % of the time, he has a history of giving up a ton of knocks, and when a hitter hits one of those heaters it stays hit

(his 223 hits in 199.2 innings led baseball in 2014)

If your watching the glove, he missed location on Paredes in the first inning and the former Bomber farm hand hit a bomb that afforded him frequent flyer miles it went so  far, the Tater  gave the O’s a 1-0 lead right out of the gate

The Doughboy and Gardner once again set the table for the AARP Middle of the Order Club and ARod almost cashed in but Delmon the Racist Young robbed Alex of his big moment.. The F/9 was good enough for a sac fly and the game was tied at 1-1

Teixeira and his on again off again routine was on again last night and he stroked a single to  right field to plate Ellsbury making it 2-1. Young who is normally a bumbling pant load on defense all of a sudden morphed into Roberto Clemente and  gunned down Teixeira trying to  stretch  a single into  a double

Eovaldi had a 1-2-3 2nd inning but he  left a 2-0 meatball over the plate in the 3rd and Joseph planted it in the first  row in left field to tie the game at 2-2

Tillman  left an  83 MPH cookie over the plate and ARod  slammed his record breaking Tater into Monument Park to  give the Yanks a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 3rd..

That  didn’t last long with Phil Eovaldi on the bump and the O’s tied it in the 5th on consecutive doubles by Snider and once again Joseph doing the damage to make it 3-3.. It didn’t help  that Beltran was patrolling right field, Beltran  would be the 4th out fielder on a beer softball  team so  him in right field, or any field is a real joke

The Yanks won the back  and forth  battle in the bottom of the 5th  with  doubles by Gardner and Teixeira to make it 4-3

Girardi  tried to nurse Eovaldi  through 6 but he coughed up 2 singles, sandwiched in between a punch out and a force out. Once the lefty Snider came up that  was it for Eovaldi and out came Joey’s chemistry set..

Eovaldi’s inconsistency in putting guys away was cause for concern and it was no time to  take off the training wheels, he had already  coughed up  two leads and was trending toward the hat  trick when the showers called

Wilson induced a 6-3 ground out to  end the threat, in fact Wilson pitched to  contact for 1.1 innings, 19 pitches and got the ball  to Betances.. Wilson might be trending toward the best 7th inning option  at the moment, theYanks could use a sure fire set up man before the Betances, Miller tag team enters the fray

Betances had a 1-2-3- 13 pitch 8th, he also hung the Golden Sombrero on Chris Davis in the process..Miller (18 pitches) walked the annoying Steve Pearce to lead off the 9th and the rocking chair started to  squeak.

A-Mil got back on track and coaxed Hardy to pop up, he then punched out former Boston  spare part Ryan Lavarnway ( thanks Buck)  and the tough as nails out Caleb Joseph to  end the damn game

Outside of Eovaldi  channeling  Phil Hughes, and the annoying Paul O’Neill cluttering the telecast it was a great night.. the Yanks were 1 for 6 with RISP

Ellsbury, Gardner Teixeira and ARod went 8 for 13 each guy had two hits, the bottom of the order Headley, and Drew-Gorious had 1 knock each

Beltran  and McCan’t went 0-8.. The Yanks can’t get Beltran outta here fast  enough, but with $30M coming his way over the next 2 yr’s they’re stuck with this guy

  1. Nice start to this series, be nicer if they can steal a win with Warren on the bump, then try to win 1 of the next two with Reverend Whitley and PineTop over the weekend

amazing, with a Triple A pitching staff the Yanks are in first place at the moment

Probably won’t have Wilson tonight, so Shreve, Carpenter and Martin get to angst us out

Warren won’t have much more then 6 innings in him, that might be best case scenario, he hasn’t completed 6 full innings yet this season, and the O’s kill him

  2. Last night’s game was a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Having the lead change several times. But thankfully, the Buck O’s got the short end of the stick. The only thing worse than watching Beltran & Son in the outfield, is watching him at the plate. Jeez! He looks lost! Just got underneath one last night, but so what. This train has been stuck in the station all season! And the prospects for the future don’t look too appealing. Watching him go after balls in the outfield is quite painful. And at bat, even worse. I said in April, that if he’s still in a funk thru May, then they have to make a decision. They expected him to be a big part of the middle of the lineup. And so far, all he’s done is clog up the conga line. Money or no money, this can’t go on all season. Somebody go tell Aaron Judge to get fitted for pinstripes. Sal mentioned him earlier. What a great baseball name…….Roberto Clemente. Just rolls off the tongue. It’s right up there with Mickey Mantle, for great baseball names! Boy, we could sure use him in right! LMAO!!!

  3. hey Bondsie some neophyte asked the blind boys a question here’s the dialogue

Ben asks: Similar to Stephen Drew, how long is Carlos Beltran‘s leash? He has clearly taken a step back, and looks very sluggish in the field and at the plate. Is it time to call up Ramon Flores to see what he can do?

I think Beltran is going to get at least the rest of this season and possibly the first half of next season to show he’s not done. His contract really complicates things because it’s not cheap — his $15M annual salary is really $22.5M because of the luxury tax — and they’re stuck paying him next year no matter what. The Yankees decided to ride it out with Alex Rodriguez this year (and have been rewarded so far!) and I have no reason to think they’ll cut bait with Beltran anytime soon. I think the best case scenario is Joe Girardi starts using Beltran in a straight platoon with Chris Young.

  4. Problem with a straight platoon there are more RHP then LHP so Beltran and son will get the majority of playing time….

Why the freakinYanks continued to pile on with old guys at max money for 3 yr’s is beyond comprehension even if he looked good in 2013 how long do they think guys can play well without the help of stimulants

even ARod would burn out if he had to play the field every day…..

  5. I understand his take. I just think, money or no money, that’s too long a leash. I know they’re not going to eat the full amount, but the return is so egregious, that there comes a point you have to do something. We’re not there yet, but I can see it over the horizon.

  6. We’ll see what happens, Blind Boy is a groupie so his takes are skewed, plus we didn’t name him Blind Boy for nothing

On another note if there is a God the Rangers go down in flames tonight or this weekend

come Monday all we want is a memorial for Guitar Jimmy’s hockey team.. then all we have is the NBA Kock blocking baseball chatter in the news

  7. Francesa mailing in another show with that same revisionist history lesson the night Willis Wilt Walt blah blah blah please dear lord please end the madness, make the Rain-jizz lose… I’m begging you, force Francesa to talk baseball

and the NBA means nothing in this town at this point in time please lord force these talking heads to talk baseball

  8. finally dawned on me, if the 2017 option vests on Sabathia, the yanks can opt out for $5M

So if we go by Francesa logistics, yanks are now paying for the first 4 yr’s, 09 to 2016 is 8 yr’s

Off the top of my head they will owe him $196M for the 8 yr’s but he only gave you 4 so they paid him 4yrs for $196M or $49M per yr lol

  9. Hey Sal, the sad thing is, he NEVER talks enough Baseball! Even when the playoffs are over ( Hockey & Basketball) he still only gives Baseball limited attention. It’s really terrible.

  10. Mikey just dismissed 2014 it was a non factor. Mikey they paid him $23m last year for 40 something innings.

You owe him with the buy out $53m
After this yr $30m that’s what they owe Beltran now
    Almost DFA-able

  12. Sweeney shouldn’t worry so much about Pirela’s defense. Buck had Pearce playing 2nd base

Yanks need offense from 2nd and SS so s platoon is minimum, maybe he’ll get some abs vs rhp and be the reg

  13. It’s an offensive nightmare in the middle of the infield. I’m pulling for Pirella, big time!
