Yanks Shut Out Of O-Town

In a less glorious occasion Jesse Chavez totally dominated the Bombers after the 2nd inning and the boys limped to Seattle after losing 3 of 4 to  the A’s. Yesterday’s debacle a 3-0 Whitewashing with Chavez turning in 8 scoreless innings against the Jekyll and Hyde Yanks

The disclaimer on thinking Chavez is a chump based on his previous to  yesterday’s 1-5 W-L record,  his last two outings,  he has now pitched 16 straight innings vs the Yanks and the Tigers without giving up  an  earned run.. He went into  yesterday’s matinee with a 2.44 ERA, ( now at  2.11) he was carrying around a 1.20 Run Support thanks to a putrid A’s offense who hadn’t scored for him in 27 innings since May 16.

So  the Yanks who are offensively challenged themselves were walking into  a buzz saw on Sunday. Yes when your this bad Chavez is considered a buzz saw

“Let’s be honest” Gray ( 1.82 ERA), Hahn (3.77),  and Chavez (2.11), combined with Pineda and Warren  would have the Yanks running away  with the AL Least, despite the Bomber offense taking a large percentage of their games off.

Give Billy Beane credit, he has no payroll to work with so it constantly seems like he’s running a Triple A farm  team  for MLB, but this dude always has stout pitching…. They’re not always healthy, but my guess the Yanks left O.co Coliseum wishing three of the 4 starters they  faced were in their rotation instead of DFA Sabathia, Phil Evo and Beano Capuano

The A’s were 15 games under .500, they  must  have thought they  died and went to heaven facing the Bombers this weekend, especially the first  3 starters that Cash-Rardi sent to  the bump

As for our pleas to strengthen the Pen  by inserting Adam Warren,  forget that, Warren has worked his way into  being the Yanks #2 starter behind Pineda… Cash-Rardi  will have to  find that  illusive third head some place else, not by design but by the fact NY’s pitching depth is at a 2015 all  time high  of Nil

“I feel like I’ve gone out there and competed, and given the team a chance to win,” said Warren, who is 3-4 with a 3.75 ERA. “That’s my goal every time out. I don’t have any regrets about what I’ve done, and I feel like I’ve gotten better. So I’m pleased with that.”

The pure numbers dictate Warren will  remain a starter, with Tanaka taking Beano’s spot on Wednesday most  likely Lindgren  gets shipped back to AAA and Beano sits in limbo in their bull pen?

Capuano has 57 career relief appearances, 28 of them  for the Yanks in 2014, a compiled  4.55 ERA  / 1.457 WHIP

Team’s hit .270 /.350 / .421 / .770 and he’s walked 15, struck out 29…He has reverse splits , vs RHB .242 / .315 /.350  /.665

vs LHB .321 / .357 / .585 / .942

You tell me what  to  do  with this guy?

With pitching depth  at a minimum, TJ Tanaka day  to  day / pitch  to pitch, and nobody at AAA ready to  help out, Beano probably isn’t going anywhere but the pen / long man / spot starter / depth

The Yanks already have 3 LHP out there, the guy  you wanna see jettisoned, Carpenter probably won’t be released until Martin is ready.. Neither Martin and Carpenter are  the answer, but that’s what Cashman has to offer at the moment

Lindgren is the kid you want to  see stick  despite him giving up 3 hits, and  a two  run  bomb that iced Friday night’s game. Yesterday he was brought in with men on 1st  and 3rd and 1 out in the 8th inning, no  doubt his assignment was to strike out the A’s best hitter or get him to pop up or bounce into  a DP trying to  preserve a 2-0 deficit

Vogt didn’t oblige, he whacked a  sac fly to  center field to plate the 3rd A’s run giving them  an insurmountable 3-0 lead

As Brickhouse pointed out the spin at the moment is Seattle has a LHB heavy offense so the Pen  will  stay LHP heavy for at least another 3 games. The projected M’s line-up  features 6 LHB’s,  Morrison, Cano, Seager, Ackley, Smith and Miller. The bench has depending how they  configured their roster 4 or 5 RHB’s

RHB’s Cruz (18) and Zunino (7) have a combined 25 HR’s, Jackson isn’t striking fear into  any game plan is the other projected RHB starter

Hit(s) Run(s)

Apparently the Bombers were doomed from the get go, Jesse Chavez, who shut them out over eight innings ran his career record versus New York to 4-0 with a 1.63 ERA.

They  blew two  chances to  plate runs in the first  two innings despite having men in scoring position in both  frames

The Beltran Revival came to  a screaming halt in the 1st  inning, and Pirela smacked into  an inning ending DP with Gregorius who has the baseball  acumen of a chipmunk getting caught running the wrong way on the line-drive DP..

It wasn’t as bad as the media is making it, the ball  was smoked, but when your mired with a 5 and 18  record since that  fateful May 12th  date when the Yanks started to  trend toward  what  they  are, a mediocre  at best  .500 team, guys like Drew-Gorius get picked on, as well  they  should

After the 2nd inning the boys started to think  about how fast they  could get to  the airport, they  did a hell of a job, the game lasted 2:21

The Yankees had seven hits, only three came after the second inning, and one of those was a bloop, another an infield single. Worst of all, they didn’t get a runner to third base all day.

Nice job Boys

A’s Get The Vogt

Adam Warren pitched his way into staying in the Rotation, not sure how Cash-Rardi-Child will  configure this mess of a rotation but unless they’ve lost their minds the question marks start with what  to  do  after Pineda, Warren, and TJ Tanaka

DFA Sabathia is owed a King’s Ransome so by default he’ll get to  stink out the joint every 5 days, what happens to  the 5th  spot in the rotation with Phil Evo  and Beano loitering around the earners is the $200M question.. Our guess Lindgren  gets the boot, Beano to  the Pen

Anyway Warren  was matching Chavez zero  for zero until  the 6th inning when Billy Burns who killed the Yanks in this series led off with a single. He stole two  bases to put himself in scoring position but it was moot as Vogt slammed a debilitating two  run Tater to ice the game

Rogers hammered the final nail in the Bomber coffin in the 8th  giving up  two  singles, then Lindgren coughed up  the RBI sac fly, so Vogt drove in all  3 runs.. Basically the A’s had Chavez, Burns, and Vogt and the Yanks didn’t

King Felix vs Pineda Tonight

CC Sabathia (2-7, 5.67) vs. TBA on Tuesday, also at 10:10, and the return of Masahiro Tanaka (2-1, 3.22) on Wednesday at 3:40 p.m., facing RHP Taijuan Walker (2-5, 6.18).

  1. looks like Drew is the dog that won’t hunt at the moment.. Gregorius despite being a dog with fleas at least is hitting .232 in May and he’s hit in 3 straight games.. Drew despite having more HR’s then Cano is the guy looking for clues

Per Bill Madden Cano isn’t happy in Seattle, nice job Robbie, they offered you $175M to stay in NY and play in a ball park you can mash in..Cano will have 7 yr’s and $192M left on his deal after this season, If Jack Z wants to eat some money like $40M lol.. Send Cadillac back home he’ll then have a similar deal to what they gave the dough boy.. Never happen Jack Z isn’t eating $40M and Hal isn’t doling out another 7 yr $150M contract

    but

Pirela hasn’t gotten the job done, and Refsynder is mired in SWB, neither kid can play D,

I did read Private Ryan is rehabbing so Drew could be in trouble… not that Ryan is any better then any of them, Pirela, Gregorius, Drew and Ryan are all challenged.. Pirela does have a soft two game hitting streak, I’d love to see them keep running him out there

  2. Enough of these truncated AB’s. Let’s find out about Pirella. Send him out there every day for at least a couple of weeks. Then, maybe we’ll know a little bit more of what he’s all about. He played every day down in the minors, was hitting great before they brought him up. Soon after coming up, he got off to a good start, then faltered after truncated playing time. We learn nothing from that. Give the kid a shot!

  3. Warren looked really good. The offense is so hit and miss. So unpredictable.
Frankie C is going really well in Pittsburgh. Looks like they gave him away. It’s one thing to trade him–it’s another thing to get sunflower seeds in return.
Gardner is rapidly approaching the back of his baseball card. Cadillac’s current baseball card is full of typos.

  4. I didn’t see what Madden wrote, but when he signed that contract I said after 2 years Cano would want out!-lol
Pathetic losing 3 to the A’s,Yankee offense is frustrating to watch, never a clutch hit to be found. Warren has really surprised me,he has been much better than I thought,he is not leaving the rotation.Cruz has 18 homers, only 4 hit at home so its not easy to homer there-its not the kingdome. Yanks always face King Felix,he always manages to beat them while he never beats the sux! which annoys the hell out of me. Klapisch had an interesting column about CC and his possible future, get ready for lots more aggravation.I watched the Ranger game, incredible comeback started by an error by the fat panda,Farrell intentionally walking the lead run(Fielder),Hamiltons walk off with Fielder rumbling around the bases, then dunking poor Emily Jones, who looked like a wet t-shirt winner after it!!-lol Tanaka coming back-again-who knows how long he will last? You just have to wonder how long it will continue, the roller coaster on and off the dl until they finally bite the bullet for the surgery.

  5. hey boys funny stuff

the Boston game was a lot of fun, watching old Prince barreling down the line wow, then he swan dove / dived lol. into the plate funny stuff

    here’s the Madden link

small sample size but Pirela was killing RHP @ AAA.. looks like he was batting lead off.. play him everyday

    http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=t587&player_id=517369#/splits/R/hitting/2015/MINORS

    make Drew the utility guy

I’m fearing Cashman is gonna want to grab Utley and give up a kid we don’t want to give up

Let’s hope Seattle wants out of the Cano deal, maybe the Yanks take him back if Jack eats some dough.. not sure what you give them back though, Refsynder or Pirela maybe, but if Jack is gonna eat $40M over the 7 yr’s he might want more like Severino or Judge

I doubt the Yanks want to pay Cano $175M now that the Doughboy is here

  6. Sal–thanks for the drop on the Madden article. Jay Z looks like he will be to Cano what Don King was to Tyson.
Pathetic. Money doesn’t mean a whole helluva lot if you’re really miserable. I know that the Seattle team, by far, travels more than any other team.

  7. Jack is a dick. Has a rep of being one of the hardest to do business with via trades. He always wants an unreasonable amount back. I hope you’re wrong about the Utley thing. Give Pirella a chance to sink or swim. And the only way to find that out is to play him every day. I’ve been screaming about this for awhile. Hopefully, now, he gets a legit chance.

  8. your welcome Noogsie.. great analogy Tyson / King… Too bad Cano’s old man didn’t talk some sense into him

Yes Bondsie Yanks need to give Pirela a shot, I agree, kids will never figure it out if you don’t is my guess

    http://www.northjersey.com/sports/klapisch-yankees-cc-sabathia-in-decline-1.1345735

as for Klapisch, Girardi let Sabthaia go out to pitch the 7th because his alternative was Carpenter..That’s on that mush Cashman…… At $23M per The Fat Man and Jay Z should be hung out to dry, sorry.. your there to cash in on every penny, that’s fine, get it if you can, but then go out and own it or take the paddle

Thems the breaks, no saint comes to save us at our jobs, we mess up, there’s hell to pay, and I bet we’re taking down a lot less then $23M per…

thanks for the tip on the article…D
