Trader Cash? I Don’t Think So
I remember a time when we’d fall in love with a Yankee prospect (see Montero, Banuelos) in Montero’s case we saw him have a nice September call up, 18 games, 4 HR’s, .328 / .406 / .590 / .996 slash line only to see him traded next season for the injured Michael Pineda, bummer right?
As it turns out, so far Pineda has helped the Bomber varsity and given them a whisper of hope that he and Tanaka can anchor the rotation.
Monty on the other hand has had to endure some growing pains, in 170 games for Seattle he’s yet to put up at least a .700 OPS
Shit Meet Fan
Monty was popped for PED’s, had a run in with some punk bitch cross checker ( probably better for his career then a run in with a cross dresser) forcing Jack Z who is on a bad roll acquiring former Yankees to shut him down for a while.
Thankfully for Monty from Venezuela, the worm seems to be turning, at the moment after 53 games he has 8 HR’s, 423 RBI’s and a .311 / .350 / .481 / .830 slash line.. As recent as June 2nd he had a 4 hit game and knocked in 6 runs
“I just try to have fun, try to relax, try not to think about much, do this or do that. Just let it go, let it happen,” Montero said. “I feel good to help the team win today, that’s what I’m looking for, that’s what I’m trying to do each game. It’s always good to be a good helper.”
So some good news for Montero fans, except why did Jack Z go out and trade for Mark Trumbo and not promote Montero?
Well for one Jack Z was looking for some pop from a corner outfielder, so once again Montero is a man with a projected bat but no position. The Yanks flipped him as a catcher, obviously the Mariners tried him with the tools but it didn’t pan out. The Yanks had enough DH’s, not enough young pitching, and they had man crushes on Murphy, Romine, Sanchez and at the time O’Brien, then signed Martin and soon after Bubba McCan’t so Monty had no where to go
The Mariners also acquired old buddy Vidal Nuno in the Trumbo deal and they have high hopes for the Little Lefty
Anyway good luck to all those guys, including Cano and Banuelos who also looks to be coming around for the Braves AAA team, we enjoyed everyone of them but right now they’re Jack Z and John Hart’s problem, we have issues of our own in NY
I’m gonna take a shot at reading the tea leaves Re: any future heart break we may endure if Cashman trades an up and coming prospect . The list of potential future A list Baby Bombers that are closest to the varsity are Severino, Judge, Bird, Jagielo, Refsynder, Clarkin, and Bird. We’ve seen Murphy, Romine, Heathcott, Lindgren, Pirela, Flores, Mitchell and Pinder wet their beaks in a cup of coffee already
I don’t think Cashman would put any of the recent draft picks (Severino, Judge, Bird, Jagielo, Lindgren or Clarkin) in a trade for that much needed rotation stud, and it would take one or three of those kids to bring back a Hamels or Cueto who would both look good in Pinstripes…
I do think any of the other kids would be pieces in a McCarthy type deal, but you would hope if Cashman does trade any of the 2nd tier prospects for a pitcher, he can either sign the guy or bring in a young pitcher that’s a cost controlled acquisition.
You really don’t want to lose any of those kids for a rental, like McCarthy, but I wouldn’t fall in love with Romine, Flores, Pinder, Refsynder or Pirela, those players might be vulnerable to a trade
In my minds eye the Yanks will finally not trade away their future, so fall in love with the double A prospects and a few of the AAA kids.. Hal wants to cut payroll, (Hamels and Cueto) are too expensive, and there is nothing better then young cheap help to achieve that goal…
On the brighter side, Things in Boston are escalating to a heated frenzy after they blew that 4-0 lead and lost 8-4 lol..
Like we thought, and really tried to tell them this winter, Ramirez is a butcher to start off with, put him in Left field and he’s a body parts wood chipper…They can’t put him at DH with Grand Papi clogging up the spot, they owe him $88M, so there’re stuck.. Hanley Ramirez makes Manny Ramirez look like Roberto Clemente
Fenway Fats is trying to find a way back to San Francisco, boy did that fat bastard walk into a mugging, they’re destroying him up north
The 3 Amigos and their bastard son the Cuban Rusney Castillo are flat out sucking so far.. They’re finding out that the touted farm system takes time to mature and none of them are Mike Trout’s despite them thinking they had 5 or 6 of them.. At least in NY we knew our team was a .500 squad at best, so we’re farting through polyester at the moment
The Angels will be tough this weekend
Weaver, Richards, and Wilson will be no walk in the park
Yanks counter with Eovaldi, Warren and Pineda

Miller’s faced 95 batters. 39 K, 10 BB, 4 HBP. So 56% of his PA have ended with no contact.
gotta stop hitting guys with 1-2 / 0-2 counts though, sometimes that wipeout slider has a mind of it’s own
not sure how sustainable Betances and Miller are, but the first 6 weeks have been a fun watch
that said no deeper pen in baseball then the Royals, and that should make them top dog in the Central.. It’s almost silly how well Moore has constructed that pen, and in my book Pens are where it’s at in this pitch count era.. nice having that big stud or two but it’s heaven knowing you have 7 guys that are all earners backing them up

Cashman said on a radio interview that he guesses he needs to get a righty reliever-lol Good guess!!
Carpenter needed to be gone but they could have just put him on the dl like the other teams do. I watched the Mets last night, the DBacks are no longer playing Aaron Hill so maybe the Yanks could trade Carpenter for Hill. Hill is a lot better hitter at 2b than anyone we have here.

Righty relievers such as Tyler Clippard, Mark Melancon, and George Kontos all come to mind. all were home grown Yankees at one time, and were jettisoned by Cashman for next to nothing,
They are all very solid and very productive performers now, and two of the three are closers.
We got garbage back for all three of these guys.

hey boys thanks for the content
Found the Clippard trade write up kool to read when and why
“Clippard became expendable when several other young pitchers emerged for New York, including Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy. Bowden said he would have a chance to make the major league club out of spring training”.
I know it’s pretty damn hard to predict guy’s futures but Cashman is the quintessential hog looking at a wrist watch, be it players or women
he traded for Jonathan Albaladejo lol
“He’s a big, strong, imposing guy. Six-foot-5,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. “If he replicates what he did last season, then he will be an interesting character for us.”
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?id=3143069
Then we had Fat Elvis for Melancon, Boston missed on him to, I remember he was a flame thrower
http://www.sbnation.com/2010/7/30/1597620/lance-berkman-trade-mark-melancon-jimmy-paredes
then one of our all time favs Stew-Nod for Kontos… madone
http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2012/4/4/2925880/yankees-trade-george-kontos-to-giants-for-chris-stewart
thanks for the memory jog Noogsie
Big D… Aaron Hill for Carp, thanks for the tip, I have to research, not familiar with what he’s doing.. Interesting thought.. my guess Cashman would cut off his nuts before he gets rid of Drew for some reason
this is all I can find on Hill.. Reads like they want a utility guy who won’t pout
http://www.foxsports.com/arizona/story/d-backs-aaron-hill-demotion-third-base-051415
heres his metrics
http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/gamelog/_/id/6190/aaron-hill
Here’s his contract
3 years/$35M (2014-16)
signed extension with Arizona 2/7/13
14:$11M, 15:$12M, 16:$12M
My guess, looks too me unless La Russa eats a ton of his contract he’ll never see NY… at 50 cents on the dollar that $12M escalates
Cashman will stick with Drew and Pirela, then give Refsynder a shot, if he doesn’t trade those kids for a pitcher like McCarthy, but you never know ….
