Well  at the end of the day the general  consensus was Masahiro Tanaka had done his $175M / $23M AAV job, the only problem a team  being managed by their GM, 10 games under  .500 with a kid who Jeff Loria pays $22.5M less, did Tanaka’s job a little bit better

Tom Koehler a kid with  2 yr’s of Professional  baseball service time coughed up  1 run, a HR to $23M Mark Teixeira, who is tied for the league lead in Taters.  The winning run off Tanaka came  in the form of a HR from a kid Derek Dietrich who has been in the big leagues for 4 days

There is no  crying in baseball, just  whining, the Yanks and their manager did a lot of the latter, whining about hard hit balls by their offense that found Marlins leather, they  didn’t mention  the  6 hits, 5 of them ropes in the first 3 innings off their $175M Ace, that’s more hits then  any of his previous 6 stars this yr… The Bomber defense also nabbed their fair share of hard hit balls, no mention of that either by Joey Daycare or the insidious broadcast team of Lieter and Kay

In the first 3 innings Tanaka San was hit so hard the Yankee defense is lucky nobody got hurt, to his credit, the  Rakuten Rocket got a timely punch out in the 1st inning with 2 men on base, and after 2 singles to  start  the 3rd inning Tanaka  induced a nifty DP off the bat of Carlo Stanton to escape further damage…

Damn  ball  was smoked BTW

He wasn’t as lucky in the 2nd inning as future Hall of Famer Derek Dietrich, a potential new Yankee killer doubled and scored the Marlins 1st run  on a single by defensive whiz SS Adeiny Hechavarria, that  tied the game 1-1

Teixeira handed  Tanaka the lead in the 2nd inning on his league trying 18th Tater of the season but the Japanese Icon  couldn’t keep the juggernaut Marlins off the board

It was obvious Tanaka San didn’t have his A game last night, but great pitchers usually find a way to navigate rough waters when they aren’t in rhythm.. Much  to our delight, despite a shaky 3 inning start, Tanaka at least showed what  we all love about him, he held that huge, powerful, and overwhelming force known as the Miami Marlins in check for the next 3 innings, giving his offense a chance to  figure out Cy Koehler

Playing in an NL park the poor Yanks were at a slight disadvantage, they could only bring a machine gun to a knife fight.. Unfortunately they had to leave $63M worth of ammunition on the bench as ARod, Ellsbury and the always injured Beltran were unavailable.

Much  to Hal’s Championship Caliber Team’s chagrin, Cy Koehler’s only blemishes were the Teixeira HR and 2 hits by Didi Gregorius,  one was actually an E-2 but why confuse the issue…The rest of  these Pin-Stripers went  0 for 27 against Cy Koehler,  and legendary stoppers Hoppy Capps and AJ Ramos

In fact Hoppy Capps and his leap  frog delivery scared the hell out of pinch hitter Beltran, Brett the Face and Butterfingers Headley in the 8th inning when Capps punched out the side

McCan’t  walked to lead off the 9th  but closer AJ Ramos was much  too dominate for Teixeira who  struck out swinging, Mr Jones who was caught looking and pinch hitter Home Town Hero A-Rod who popped up on a hung slider to  end the damn  game

The shattering defeat to  this lowly Fla. squad knocked the Yanks out of first place as our hometown heroes  continue to play  to  their  level of expectation. It was their 3rd loss in the last 4 games and they’re now 1-3 to start this torturous 20  straight game death  march that began in Baltimore and ends on July 1st in Anaheim.

Twelve of the 20 games are on the road, with one more in Miami, and 7 more in Houston and Anaheim after an 8 game home stand that  starts on Wednesday

Tonight the Yanks get a chance to  leave Arod’s home town with a split a when Eovaldi  and Phelps go head to head in a barttle of Thousand Dollar Cars

Keep  that Triple A phone number on speed dial Joey, you might be calling a tow truck by the 5th inning

  1. this team is so boring all the press has to write about is Arod, Hal should double that $6M bonus not try to get out from paying it… the media should chip in, they’d have uh-gots to put in their sports section if it wasn’t for the daily ARod drama

I guess we just have to hope this team stays within 5 games of the division, at least until Ellsbury can lengthen the line up….That’s about the only spark I see coming, maybe they get tired of Ryan after Drew-Glorius and the Private falter vs LHP, and we get a glimpse at Refsynder or Pirela again, maybe get a spark from them

Williams we should hope does enough to become trade bait, we know he can D, but I think the 1 HR which is his only hit was an accident

The Yanks have 5 guys that profile as the same player and two of them are earring over $200M so Williams, Heathcott and Flores are all blocked, might as well use them or some of them as trade fodder

We all like Pirela but we ain’t making the decisions and Cashman hates guys who can’t play defense so Pirela and Refsynder have about as much chance of sticking with the Yanks as I do, lets flip them and Sanchez who is blocked by McCan’t and Murphy for a stud pitcher

That said, who wants these guys for a stud pitcher? Nobody

I get the Holder draft pick, I think, but if Cashman is so enamored with Gregorius why did they waste a first round pick on yet another defensive first, possibly he can hit at the next level SS?

The NY media wants Johnny Cueto, who are they trading Cincy to rent him? Pirela, Refsynder Mitchell, Williams, Hearhcott, Sanchez?

what are they gonna get with those guys, a Johnny Cueto signed baseball?

  5. Funny, and hard to believe Bob’s Blitz clip today (but it is true because I heard it live) of our favorite Mikey totally contracting himself and looking completely foolish. He says he doesn’t deal in hypotheticals and a short time later, does just that.

  6. The Sherman article was the only good news. Just another brutal loss to a lousy team, shut down by someone with a 6+ era,the winning hit from a guy with 4 days in the big leagues. True they did hit a lot of
missiles right at someone but someone has to do something! Ramirez was really pathetic out there,it was sad to watch, this guy is clueless and scared to death. For his own sake, just send him down before he has a nervous breakdown on the mound.Santos got VERY lucky, the next time that happens Haleys Comet will return.AJ Burnett and CC also have tons of tattoos. The media does have nothing to write about,Arod is the only story,I love when they make up headlines of the Yankees looking at Cueto-so were the other 20 teams that had scouts at his game! BFD!!! There are scouts at every game, everyone is watching everyone else, not a lot of secrets out there, not really news. So now the Yanks are out of first, trailing the Rays-how are they Rays winning? That is a mystery the media needs to get focused on. This game was just another reason to hate inter league bullshit.

    • Big D Ramirez had so much potential, I’m shocked he went South.. You know the drill, he’ll get DFA’d and some team will figure him out and he’ll be a Tyler Clippard down the road

I saw Phil Coke last night pitching for the Jays … i think it was Phil Coke… Heck of a win by the Mets at least somebody can beat Toronto

  12. MKay said at the beginning of the game that the Yankees think Phelps does better vs lefties,so thats why
Young & Ryan are in.”QUIET- GENIUS AT WORK” Eovaldi throws 98 but was hanging sliders over the middle of the plate and just getting FUCKING HAMMERED WHILE THE MANAGER IS STANDING THERE WITH HIS THUMB UP HIS ASS!!! Blaming Larry Rothschild for the fact that Eovaldi is not a mensa member and cannot throw off speed pitches disregards that fact that the Dodgers and Marlins gave up on him-don’t you think they tried? What an abomination

Wonder if NYY will call up Jose DePaula tomorrow. His day to start in AAA, already on the 40-man, gives them a long man with Capuano down.

    • Strange decision to run Arod on that single to center

Also not putting Tex in to pinch hit then play defense could come back on Joey Daycare
