Let’s Get Ready To Rumbelow!

Who’s Your Daddy

I’d like to  wish Mr Tanaka a Happy Father’s Day, hopefully Tanaka Sr wasn’t watching Tanaka Jr  yesterday like 39 thousand  other paying customers did in NY, as Tanaka San the $175M Ace “ Just didn’t have it” per his manager Joey Daycare

Joey had no idea why, (does he ever?)  he said it was “ Just Baseball” OK Joey, How about  “Just a Refund” ?

Two Wrongs don’t make a Right either Joey:

“I’m just going to go back to it: [Felix Hernandez] gave up eight runs in a third of an inning. These are human beings that go out there. Some days they just don’t have it,” Girardi said. “A lot of times we try to make too much out of it. He didn’t have it today and they made him pay. He’ll get back on track.”

I guess we should be happy with just  winning the series, but when  your Ace gets the ball, in this case 6 days from his last start,  against a Tigers  team  that has looked lost  in the 1st two  games  this series, your expecting a bit more competitive outing then  5 innings, 10 hits, 7 runs, 5 earned, 2 BB, 6 K’s, 3 Hr’s

Tanaka has wowed since coming off the Disabled List June 3, allowing four runs in 21 innings over his three starts, so  watching him nonchalantly serve  belt high meatballs to professional sluggers was a bit surprising,

The first  thing your wondering is did the elbow finally tear apart?

Per his manager, ( “Let’s be honest” I would trust Bernie Madoff being truthful before I’d take anything Girardi says at a presser), there is no concerns, just  a bad day. Tanaka gave up a career high-tying 10 hits and seven runs in five innings, so  at least it wasn’t his worst outing, he’s done it before

“I was missing spots and I was missing them by a far margin so I wasn’t really sharp today,” Tanaka said through a translator.

OK then  let’s move on, and we’ll  show about as much interest in Tanaka as he did pitching yesterday

Out goes the Ace in comes the Plebes

Danny Burawa another Cashman pitching prodigy, this one from St Johns got a shot with the varsity after Tanaka took an early shower… He ordered a small latte with a double shot of espresso, so Not exactly a large cup of coffee with the big club for the live armed Burawa. The kid like a lot of Cashman  prospects throws hard, but that’s where it all  ends, like most Cashman  acquisitions.. Cashman is in love with the Radar Gun, Carpenter, Martin, Wilson, Burawa, Pinder, it’s the rest of  their game that leaves something less desirable

Yesterday Burawa 0.2 innings, 4 hits, 4 runs 1 BB, 1 K , 1 HR… As Michael Kay  would say, C-YA .. Burawa isn’t a tender foot he’s 26 yr’s old, 5 yrs in the bushes, he’s pitched in 159  games 252.2 innings, he’s a semi- professional reliever who has started 1 game

He has really good AAA numbers, the disclaimer might be his control, 30 K’s 17 BB’s, but his  innings to hits are good (36-21) a 1.051 WHIP, maybe give him another shot when it’s not the Tigers middle of the line-up, and he’s somewhere in California when only 50 NYY fans are watching at 2 AM eastern time, he seemed over amped yesterday. He now gets a chance to wind down in SWB PA…

Next up  in the blow out was yet another Cashman low risk project Jose De Paula, at least Jose ate some innings 3.1, 2 hits, 4 BB’s, 2 K’s, 1 Run.. De Paula is 28 yr’s old, 8  yr’s in the bushes, he’s been with the Padres and Giants minor league system before Cashman grabbed him as LHP depth for SWB

Another  guy doing well  at AAA as a starter, he gets the Mike Francesa Plastic Chrome Plated Buckle for saving the bull pen and keeping a position player  from having to go  an inning or two, nice job, safe trip  back to SWB…

With Tanaka allowing 6 runs to  score in the first two innings, the Bomber offense never stood a chance… They did get 2 HR’s from Stephen Drew #’s 10  and 11, that’s good for 3rd place on the Yanks behind Tex and A-Rod and 1 more then McCan’t who also clouted a Tater

Anibal Sanchez wasn’t exactly channeling King Felix yesterday  so  you thought this could be a potential  slugfest but once Gardner  killed a 2nd inning rally by grounding out to  1st base, and Tanaka gave up  the 7th  run, JD Martinez’s 2nd HR off him, the 5 run lead took  the air out of the Yanks sails.. Burawa completely sunk the ship in the 6th with his  forgettable debut

Let’s Get Ready To Rumbelow

At least we’re getting to  see some  players under the age of 28 coming up  from SWB, too bad none of the position players Heathcott, Williams can  stay healthy, or any of the pitchers Lindgren also out due to injury, Ramirez, Burawa, Mitchell, Pinder and De Paula make you pine for their return

Next on the shuttle will be  Nick Rumbelow and Diego Moreno… I’ve been  waiting to  see Rumbelow on the varsity since Spring Training.. The hi-lighted Rumbelow link has his numbers and scouting report.. It’s about time we start  to  see Cashman’s farm,  enough with the Miller’s, Mitre’s,  Gaudin’s, Luis Ayala, Cody Eppley, David Huff, Esmil Rogers, Sergio Santos retreads

So Far

Not much better: prospects Ramirez, Lindgren and Burawa make it 0-3 if your waiting on some youngsters to  shine, but at least they’re home grown kids getting their feet wet.. Ramirez might have lost Girardi’s  complete trust, so I wouldn’t loan him the down payment to  a starter mansion in the NY/ NJ area code

As far as his stuff goes, Rumbelow is a fastball-curveball strikeout guy who generates a 92-95 mph fastball with an overhand delivery that allows him to generate good downward plane despite being only six-foot. His 83-85 mph curveball is more like a slider, which the Yankees probably like a lot given their proven profile for pitchers over the last few years. It is believed that Rumbelow has the potential to be a future set-up man in the majors, so if they have that type of talent in the bullpen now, it will be an even greater strength, considering the weapons they already have in the backend.

Diego Moreno was a throw in when the Yanks flipped AJ Burnett to  the Pirates,  8 seasons in the minors, he looks like another 4A pitcher on paper, with  good enough minor league stats to  warrant a look  see  at 27 yr’s old

We’ll  look see both  guys  with the Phillies coming in, but at 23 yr’s old, Rumbelow is the Prospect we need to hope pans out as the Yaanks keep  auditioning for the pen, before Cashman has to  find somebody else’s salary dump next month

  1. Cashman’s Championship bull pen at the moment

Betances, Shreve, Wilson, then Pinder, Rumbelow, Mareno, and Capuano.. hell of a job Cash

at least the Rays finally lost, wait until they get Cobb, Moore and Smyly back.. How can we get those scouts to work for Cashman?

  2. Someone could make a lot of money operating a shuttle between Scranton and the Bronx with all the relievers and outfielders going back and forth. On one hand these kids are in the major leagues,on the other are they really ready to be there? Getting hammered can’t be good for your confidence, especially with all your family in the stands. Thankfully the rays finally lost,no one can figure out how they keep winning but some how they do. Tanaka was horrible yesterday,Kernan wrote that he had a high school fastball, not good enough vs the Tigers, especially after they lost 2 in a row and got yelled at by their manager. This was after 6 days rest,so who knows what really was the problem. It may be time for him to go back on the dl soon. That seems to be the pattern,go on the dl,rehab, pitch well for a while, then get hammered a time or two, back to rehab, repeat. Yanks need to take care of the Phillies before hitting the road again for a change.

  3. Since you guys are not big golf fans, you regretfully missed Holly Sonders doing interviews at the US Open the last few days. She makes Brickhouse look like Basement Bertha from Mets Fame many years ago.
Holly was not described too complimentary by Mushnick today. I wish they had shown about 50 more of her interviews. She was outstanding and much more entertaining than anything going on with the Yankee broadcast.

  4. hey fellas great takes… Tanaka San $153M in the bank no hurry Big D, who cares 39K folks went out to see him yesterday, he was horsing around with Soup Bone all weekend in the dugout, another guy stealing money……. just a bad day at the office… 3 yr’s till the opt out, I’d get that elbow done so he has at least 1 yr to prove he’s fixed

Noogsie we did our Holly Sonders spread last week, I stumbled across her photo and lost my mind …If I knew she was doing the interviews I would have booked a seat next to Francesa… Francesa killing Fox, not sure how they did over the weekend, but did that have anything to do with shilling for his buddy Jim Nance? Let’s see Holly sideline reporting or whatever they call it, or Jim Nance?

I almost went out and bought a golf cart and a bag full of clubs… madone!!!!!!

Brickhouse looks like a Macy’s day balloon compared to Holly

    • Thanks for that Sal. Holly is smokin hot. No golfer would refuse an interview with her.

      June 22, 2015 at 4:14 pm

    • Mikey jinxing the Yanks big time

Said a sweep Phillies are awful

With the golf you know Mikey didn’t watch 1 pitch of baseball

Mikey killing Fox kissing Nance’s ass
He gets his country club buddies to hijack the airwaves today

  8. These are the Yankees aces? They look like palookas. Really excited to see Capuano on the mound-lol
Get ready for the parade of relievers

    June 22, 2015 at 8:38 pm

  9. Is there any more golf, the more Francesa pays attention to golf the less he’ll make predictions on baseball

I knew we were dead the minute that wind nag blew the Phillies off

maybe they have a rally in their bones lol

I don’t care who you are when your on a 12 game losing streak on the road your over due

    June 22, 2015 at 8:48 pm

  10. Babe Gardner!!!!

    June 22, 2015 at 8:53 pm

  11. The Babe Hahahaha right back in it, Francesa is a genius

    June 22, 2015 at 8:55 pm

  12. Yanks missing Tex tonight, chance to get back in it but those lefties were overmatched

Who do they have Giles and Papelbon for the last 6 outs? That’s a tough 6 outs

    June 22, 2015 at 9:20 pm

  13. Franco kid is a beast

    June 22, 2015 at 9:21 pm

  14. The law of averages and lousy pitching got the Yanks. Since he was 5-1 Pinheada is 3-3 with an era of 5.7-not really ace material. He was pounded for 11 hits!-oy!! Babe Gardner is just on fire, bunting, homering, can’t get him out!!!-lol Its always dangerous playing a team on such a losing streak,
now they need to take the series before hitting the road.
