Nothing But Aces: Back Afta Dis

Masahiro Tanaka gave up seven runs on 10 hits in five innings, equaling the most runs he’s given up in a game since coming over from Japan last year. But the Yankees’ ace said after the game that he feels fine physically.

Masahiro Tanaka shelled, but there’s a silver lining

McCann said, “I could tell he wasn’t hitting his spots like he normally does. And this is a lineup that’s tough.”

That’s one more reason not to be too alarmed. Tanaka won’t be facing a lineup as strong as Detroit’s every time out. Few teams have a middle of the order more formidable than Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, Yoenis Cespedes and J.D. Martinez.

Nice strategy boys,  let’s hope the $175M Ace gets a softer landing moving forward?

Same Line Up :

Adam Warren  8 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs

Nate the Hit Machine Eoivaldi 6 innings, 3 hits, 2 runs

Hey Mike what  did you think about Tanaka?

I could tell he wasn’t hitting his spots like he normally does. And dis is a lineup dats tough.

Da Phillies are Dreadful, expect da Yanks to  sweep  dem, now lets get back  to  golf because I haven’t watched one pitch  of baseball  since da Belmont, da NBA Finals, and da US  Open sta-didt

Phillies 11 Yanks 8

Pineda 3.1 innings, 11 hits, 8 runs

Maikel Franco had career highs of four hits and five RBI’s and made a fabulous diving play to help Philadelphia snap a 12-game road skid with an 11-8 victory over the New York Yankees.

Joey the Spin on his Ace

“He threw a flat one and he hit it,” Joe Girardi said. “If he throws the same one he probably threw the other two, he gets another out there. But he just didn’t do it.”

Larry the Stable Guy

“That’s hard to tell (why) because you’ve seen really good games and games that are not only not good, they’re bad,” Rothschild said.

  1. Cashman the savant

Now Kernan wants to trade for 31 yr old Hamels who will cost NY close to $30M per with their luxury tax issues.. plus raid their farm system

“Starter Michael Pineda was dreadful Monday night in an embarrassing 11-8 loss to the Phillies, a day after Masahiro Tanaka was roughed up by the Tigers”.

Yes neither Ace breeds consistency, so why trade Severino and Judge, Mateo or Bird for Hamels, what’s he gonna do if Pineda and Tanaka are only decent every other outing?

sit tight Cashman, if you wanna spend Hal’s money, which is really the only way you know how to build a team, do it in free agency when 4 or 5 top of the rotation guys will be available

and even then, this payroll is so out of whack that ain’t happening either…. just try to build a Royals type bull pen and hope for the best until 2017 /18

  2. I love when guys say there were a lot of seeing eye or soft hits lol

WTF do you think baseball is??? here’s the bottom line Pineda got hit like a mac truck running into a Volkswagen there are no excises except the big Dog wasn’t ready to pitch.. that’s on Larry and Joey, but mostly on the lazy fella on the mound.. You have 4 5 days to prepare, get it done

Tonight was a culmination of not a lot of things working for the big guy. Sure, there were a good amount of soft/unlucky singles for Pineda but he also wasn’t getting swings-and-misses to strike guys out. In fact, he struck out no one in 3.1 innings pitched. Pitchers have bad games and Pineda just happened to have one of his worse ones against one of the worst lineups in the league. Oh well.

  3. Funny stuff, Sal. The last 2 days feels like we could go into another one of those valleys that have been characterizing this season. We’re up & flying high (thanks Donny for the brownie) & the next thing you know we can’t do anything right. It’s been that kinda year. It’s amazing to see all the new names coming out of the pen lately. It’s like a cattle call for an audition of “A Chorus Line”! Hey Cashman! Maybe this wouldn’t have happened if the Do Re Mi was spent properly on the right people! Well, I listened to Mikey for awhile yesterday. He spent almost the entire 1st hour on golf. Then, in the 2 pm hour, he opened with Baseball, then, in no short order, went right back to golf. Where he remained for the rest of the day. Switched over to Kay later, and they were discussing all things Baseball. Yanks, Mets, AL & NL teams, the new Pete Rose revelations, etc. I know Mikey is hilarious, unintentionally, but jeez!, it’s getting impossible to listen anymore. Wake up!! It’s the fucking Baseball season for crissakes!!!! Back afta dis……….here’s Mr Met.

    • mB Mikey picked the winner of the US Open, he’ll be talking golf for a month.. The dude who won goes back to back, Noogsie would know better but my guess even mikey couldn’t mush that chalk pick

Yanks are a mediocre team, mediocre teams get streaky until they end up a few games above or below .500

      June 23, 2015 at 11:50 am

  4. This “Team” is fuckin boring,, no chemistry, no vibes, ,
    poorly constructed too to bottom,,
    borrrrring,, 😠

    June 23, 2015 at 11:15 am

  5. Donny No farm system, no really good young players, all old overpaid super stars on the back 9… A 26 yr old kid who had 136 innings in his elbow about 200 innings left in his arm before it falls off

Pineda nice talent for some reason be it health or just stunod between the ears he’s a nice guy in the rotation.. He’s about as reliable a huts-a-hanna and r2 d2

    June 23, 2015 at 11:53 am

  6. looks like Francesa just found out about Pineda’s slider lol….

    June 23, 2015 at 1:07 pm

  7. Francesa looked at his MLB AB saw O’Sullivan’s line and put him in a Sabathia category, my Philly buddies love O’Sullivan told me the kid is good, he’s been on the right side of 3 of the last 4 starts

The Phils have some good kids on that team Something good could happen if Philly wins this series, Hal might wake up and get some help here

I ain’t sure Leake is it though

If Tanaka and Pineda pitched as good as O’Sullivan the last 2 night Yanks win

    June 23, 2015 at 1:14 pm

  8. Read Kiernan’s column. He’s a freakin idiot to give up the farm for a 31yr old big money, mucho prospects trade. No way do I want to give up Judge, Severini, or Bird for that contract. Was listening to that buffoon Benigo this morning. All he talked about was the Mets & freak in football!!!! It’s fucking June for crissakes!! It’s Baseball time!

    June 23, 2015 at 1:19 pm

    • knee jerk article mB, gets everybody’s attention.. You and me will be pitching in the Bronx before Hamels

Drerw out paternity leave, Flores goes down, Pirela and Mitchell up

      June 23, 2015 at 3:34 pm

  9. Francesa would make one of the greatest car salesman in the history of selling cars.. NHe loves killing the Mets, they can’t come back to bite him, the Yanks can WFAN is their station

he should be destroying Tanaka and Pineda today…. he should be destroying Cashman for building a shit bull pen, something he could have done for not a lot of money

    June 23, 2015 at 1:21 pm

  10. Agreed. Right now, the bullpen is like a cattle call for the casting of “Spring Time For Hitler” for The Producers!

    June 23, 2015 at 1:25 pm

  11. I love that scene in The Producers,, pee yr pants funny,,

    June 23, 2015 at 3:43 pm

  12. He always writes columns to stir things up, and to put the focus on himself. The rumour is that Joey Day Care wants to take a look see at Don B on the mound. He’s gotta be better than Burawa! And WTF is their problem with Flores??? All the kid did when he was up here was shine! He hit & especially fielded better than most of his outfield peers. Give the kid a chance. A legit chance. Not truncated AB’s. I liked what I saw. Why not find out what this kid is all about??? Btw, watching Beltran last night in the outfield was embarrassing. The guy can no longer cover the ground. He costing us extra hits & runs. And this taxes the pitching staff as well having to throw more pitches. I know, we have a regular DH. So, this year & next we’re fucked in RF!
