Beltran’s Back And There’s Gonna Be Trouble

Beltran  should be back  today, so say  goodbye to Private Ryan ?

Ready for Zobrist.

Despite the calls by NYY pundits for Ben Zobrist, the tea leaves are reading Refsynder gets a chance to play for 2 more weeks at least.. 2 for 12 is much  to small  a sample size to  ship him out, that’s not Louie Aparicio  backing up Drew, Headley, and Ref

If Ref keeps hitting one ground ball after another by the deadline or close to it then you maybe make a move.. Or they may shuttle Ref back to  AAA until Ryan goes back on the DL.. We know what Ryan is, we don’t know what Ref is, why not check him out for 2 more weeks, if not the rest of the season?

Unfortunately Mitchell  was shipped out, in an effort to  keep  him stretched out..

Apparently his stuff is too  good to  waste in the pen while we’re still in  the middle of July, despite that  being his most productive results to  date as a varsity participant

Can’t blame Cashman here, the Bomber rotation is tenuous at best, fragile in it’s make up,  and you might need Mitchell.. Hamels, Cueto, or Samardijia ain’t walking through the door

“I don’t think he struggled,” McCann said of Pineda. “You had one of the better hitters in the game, and he’s starting to swing the bat a lot better. Take those away we’re looking seventh, eighth inning with no runs.”

Other then  that, how was the play Mrs Lincoln?

“He’s a guy that likes to work,” manager Joe Girardi said. “You can look at his struggles today, he gave up the two in the first — he made a mistake — and then he kind of settled in the second through the fifth and made another mistake in the sixth. It’s not like he got bombed. But I said, when you have these long layoffs you worry, but in the long run I think it helps. In the short term, you worry a little bit.”

Pineda had sub-par peripherals, something Blind Boy noted, but the fact is, only Cano  damaged his afternoon, so i’m not  jumping on that Rest bandwagon.. The M’s aren’t that  good offensively, they have 3 great offensive players, Seager got Tanaka on Friday, Cano  got Pineda yesterday, and what are the odds Cruz gets Sabathia today?

First-pitch strikes/Batters faced: Pineda 13/25; Shreve 2/5; Warren 5/6
Called strikes-Swinging strikes-Foul balls-In Play strikes: Pineda 10-12-20-21; Shreve 3-4-2-4; Warren 5-3-10-3
Ground Balls-Fly Balls: Pineda 10-5; Shreve 2-2; Warren 1-1

I’m also not gonna pay that much  attention to the Girardi  spin because Pineda’s worst  outing of the yr came against  the Phillies June 22nd on regular 4 day  rest, 3.2 innings, 8 runs, 11 hits.. Checking his game logs  May 15th he was shelled 5.1 innings,10 hits, 5 runs.. Of course that  was 5 days removed from Pineda’s infamous 16 strike out game

Masahiro Iwakuma

I guess when Pineda or Tanaka pitch you expect 2 runs or less, not gonna be the case.. Yesterday  the Yanks who  have scored 7 runs in the last 18 innings were halted by 5 Seattle pitchers

First-pitch strikes/Batters faced: Iwakuma 11/22; Beimel 1/1; Lowe 4/4; Nuño 1/2; Rodney 1/1; C. Smith 2/5
Called strikes-Swinging strikes-Foul balls-In Play strikes: Iwakuma 13-10-15-16; Beimel 0-0-0-1; Lowe 2-2-2-3; Nuño 1-1-5-1; Rodney 0-2-0-1; C. Smith 5-1-8-4
Ground Balls-Fly Balls: Iwakuma 10-2; Beimel 0-1; Lowe 1-1; Nuño 0-1; Rodney 1-0; C. Smith 2-0

Iwakuma got burnt by McCann in the 4th  when  Bubba blasted his 15th HR tying the game 2-2, but for the most part he was surprisingly stingy.. Three of his 5.2 innings were 1-2-3 innings, he gave up a 2 out single in the 2nd, the 2 run Tater in the 4th  and was knocked out in the 6th but not before he allowed Ellsbury and Gardner to  reach on singles but Teixeira ARod and McCann couldn’t deliver

Once again if the middle of the order doesn’t stuff the ballot box, Yanks are in trouble.. McCann came through in the 4th  but faltered in the 6th, and was punched out in the 9th with  a man on 2nd a no outs

The Yanks also  got a 2 out double from Gregorius in the 7th,  but Ref couldn’t break his 0-5 snide and once again grounded out

Yankee offense was 0-8 with RISP, they left 5 mens on base

Yankees RISP: 0-8 (Teixeira 0-1, Gregorius 0-1, Jones 0-1, Rodriguez 0-1, McCann 0-2, Headley 0-1, Refsnyder 0-1)
Team LOB: 5

  1. Cano is picking it up in July, 20 for 60, .333 .985 OPS, 4 HR’s Edgar Martinez waking him up?

Iwakuma is a free agent, I wonder if Jack Z wants to trade him to Cashman at the deadline?

Baltimore Kenny was fed intel about his outings vs good teams, mentioned he was good in those outings

I checked the logs and really it’s only been the last two vs Anaheim and the Yanks where he’s been something that could help the Yanks

Still as a rental he can’t cost much in prospects I don’t think, and he’s had great results in the past..

We have to keep rooting for Washington to keep losing, we have to hope Harper gets disgusted with that team and wants out

Then we unload some prospects including Severino and Judge in a trade, and sign him for $300M

  2. I’m arranging for the funds for Harper right now. Does it matter if Milton Bradley’s picture is on the face of the money???
