Tex is Heat(ed)

with 22 comments

The Yanks continued their 10 game road trip  to Texas and won their 3rd straight game, a convincing 6-2 victory over the  fading fast Texas Rangers who  are now 8 games behind the Angels, and 4 games under .500

If Texas is gonna grab Cole Hamels, and per MLBTV they’re the favorites, they  better do it soon.. Hamels is due to pitch on Thursday, and teams always clamor to  toss LHP vs the LHB heavy Bombers

Cashman is trying to  sneak into next week by whistling past  the graveyard, but now that Nova is complaining of a “tired arm” throw in  Sabathia, and 2/5th’s of the rotation  are  5 inning  warriors.

Eovaldi  still hasn’t convinced anybody he can duplicate his last outing vs the Twins on a consistent bases, and “let’s be honest” Tanaka and Pineda are 2 of the most talented pitchers in the AL, but they’re also  two very large enigma’s…

With the starting rotation  being  the weakest link, Cashman needs to  either bring in another weapon to  work out of the pen, or bite the bullet and see if he can grab Price or Samardijia without giving up Judge, Severino, Bird or Mateo

The Yanks might get away  with Beano Capuano pitching 3 innings and Warren backing him for 4 innings against the LHB heavy Rangers, but Beano isn’t the answer, Yanks need two or three guys that  can go  7 full innings for the remainder of the season, unless they  want this talented bull pen to implode down the stretch

Instead they might try to  slip  past teams at home and hope to get to  September patching the rotation and overworking the pen like they did last night.

 Pen Writes The Script

Shreve gets the buckle for pitching 2 solid innings, thanks to Nova quitting after 5 innings… Shreve who was well  rested walked 1 batter  but struck out 4 and bridged the game to Wilson who  was shaky throwing 21 pitches, walking a batter, striking out 1… Willie  still managed to not allow a hit and he kept the Rangers off the board

Betances wasn’t that  sharp, 16 pitches, only 8 for strikes,  he walked 1, K’d 1 and closed it out… Miller did have to  get up in the pen, but D-Bet found his rhythm after the lead off walk and escaped unscathed…

End result the Bull Pen pitched 4 innings, 3 BB’s, 6 K’s no hits, no runs….

Party Time

Nova gave up  2 runs on 3 consecutive two out hits in the 2nd inning… To his credit he managed to  hold the Rangers at  2, while the Yanks put up  3 runs in the top of the 3rd.. Big hat  tip  to Gregorius and Ryan  who  Homered and tripled  to  tie and take the lead that Nova, Shreve,  Wilson,  and Betances made stand up…

Headley singled to right.
Gregorius homered to right (376 feet), Headley scored. 2- 2
Ryan tripled to deep left.
Gardner walked.
Young hit sacrifice fly to left, Ryan scored. 3- 2
Rodriguez grounded into double play, third to second to first, Gardner out at second.

ARod hit his 24th HR in the 6th, to make it 4-2, a nice birthday present from Alex to  Us!!!

The Yanks tacked on 2 more in the 7th

Beltrán walked. 4 2
Headley doubled to deep right, Beltrán to third. 4 2
Freeman relieved Harrison. 4 2
Gregorius singled to right, Beltrán and Headley scored.

they  were on their way to  giving Betances the night off in the 8th  but Slow Joe Espada almost got Teixeira injured when he told him to take it easy rounding third heading for home with the Bombers 7th  run.. Unfortunately Tex slowed down and was gunned down  easily at  the plate

The Mild mannered Teixeira showed a ton of emotion directed toward Espada and called him out, not to mention Tex threw some  furniture around in the dugout..

It all worked out nobody was hurt, but instead of a night off and Goody pitching, D-Bet had to  strap em on and work the 9th inning

“There was no miscommunication,” Teixeira said. “Joe just told me, ‘Easy, easy,’ which means there’s going to be no play at the plate. It’s just a mistake. … That can’t happen. I’m sure it won’t ever happen again. It can’t happen.”

Headley was also pissed off, so  you have to love the lunch pail mentality these guys are bringing to  the ball park  everyday

Gonna be a miracle if they  can  steal one tonight with Beano on the bump.. Yanks didn’t pick  up  any ground on the O’s and Rays who  won.. The moved a 1/2 game up while the Jays were off, but they also landed Tulo who  will make that line-up even more dangerous

  1. Man Shreve was great last night, what a pick up, too bad it was at the cost of Banuelos but WTF, he’s been great

Cashman needs to pull a rabbit out of his hat, can’t go the next 2 months and change with this pitching staff, unless they bring up Severino just before September so if he is any good they can use him in the playoffs…

Tulo v to the Jays wow, what a left side of the infield that will be if he stays healthy

At least they used their bullets on Tulo and not on Chapman or Kimbrel, or an elite starter which is what they really needed…

  2. It was so refreshing to see Tex lose it last night. In Joey Day Care’s post game presser, he tried to pooh pooh it & just left it as “everything is ok, it’s ok” with the scribes. But minutes later, in the clubhouse, Brickhouse asked Tex about it & he was up front and told all. He didn’t throw Espada under the bus. Espada did that all by himself. Tex told it like it was, & das it! Tex coulda got hurt on that play and then where would we be??? Everybody owned up to it except JDC, which is to be expected. This is now several times this year where Espada has fucked up. I’m not sure how he got the gig anyway. Put Robby Thompson back at 3rd & bring back Mick Kellerer to first & Tony back to the bench. That was a BS move in the 1st place. There was nothing wrong with that staff. It all looked like a BS cosmetic move to illustrate change.

  3. Watching the Ranger broadcast, they did not know why Tex was so mad. Like Moscone said,GeniusJoe had that shit eating grin on his face, just said its ok repeatedly when asked. He also would not say that Capuano is starting tonight, even though the Ranger broadcasters said it was him, then after the post game,it was revealed Capuano was starting. Just the typical GJ bs,just another log in the fire to dislike him, which I do. Yanks have to take advantage of the lousy Ranger pitching and their weakness vs lefty pitchers,I am lighting candles for Capuano tonight-oy!! Moscone, check out the NYPost online Page 6,
our girl Kate posted an instagram picture of her butt!!! Long live the Queen!!!!-lol

  4. Hey Big D! Thanks for the heads up! Will do! I can’t pay enough for good information. Joey then lied to the scribes in the post game presser, when he answered George King (NY Post) about tonight’s starter, by saying “we’re gonna talk it out later & I’ll let you guys know”. What BS! If they said it on the Ranger telecast, then just fucking say it! Why all the back room intrigue?? Torre woulda never done that, he’s too smart & media savvy. Joey’s got that prickly personality & everything is on double secret probation. Hey D! My buddy had, for a while, some of those pics of Kate & Verlander that were leaked online. Wow!!! Is all I can say, & Verlander is a very lucky man!!

  7. Yo D! I’m all for a Balloon Day for Brickhouse. Let’s create a groundswell to get this done. We need to get in touch with Jason Grillo (Yankee PR Director). Make it known how much the fans would want to have this day. Complete with an on the field video presentation of Brickhouse’s greatest outfits, ending with a Gatorade bath of her wearing a past outfit voted on by the fans! This could be the greatest promotion of the year!!! What days think??

    July 28, 2015 at 6:40 pm

  10. If all this is true, and the other guys stay put, do the Yanks bring up Severino sometime in August and give him a shot???

    July 28, 2015 at 7:37 pm

    • They have to or he won’t be available for the playoffs
Mitchell was supposed to pitch tonight

      July 28, 2015 at 9:31 pm

  16. If George was still alive, Beano would’ve been DFA’d before the end of the game! Jeez! 42 pitches & 5 runs & can’t get out if the first!!!

    July 28, 2015 at 9:39 pm

    • If George was still alive he would have gone to the mound and yanked Beano, and handed him a pink slip, and a plane ticket

      July 29, 2015 at 6:01 am
