Last word should go to Girardi / Cashman

“I think it’s extremely important because obviously you want to play in front of your own fans,” Girardi said. “Our club is built for that ballpark. You get to sleep in your own bed. You don’t have to travel as much. I think it means a lot, and that’s why you’ll see us go for it if we have an opportunity.”

Wait a Second

Joey Schizophrenia didn’t start his best options in either game saying “the one thing that tops home-field advantage is health”

So a mixed message from Joey Skitz, who has choked as much as his players have over the last week of the season

I bet Hal was happy when he ran this line-up out there in game one

Murphy catching, Romine at first, Pirela in right

Brett Gardner CF

Rob Refsnyder 2B

Alex Rodriguez DH

Chris Young LF

Chase Headley 3B

John Ryan Murphy C

Jose Pirela RF

Austin Romine 1B

Brendan Ryan SS

RHP Ivan Nova

Should be a fun game today as the Yanks go for their 88th win, at least 8 more then most thought they’d get

Hal probably doesn’t want to make all that dough a WC game would generate, and the Yankee players and manager want that special challenge all competitive athletes want, that game against all odds like facing Keuchel in Houston where he’s 15-0

Somebody mentioned yeah but he’ll be on 3 days rest…. Keuchel could beat the Yanks on 3 hours sleep no less 3 days rest…Love the way Girardi has managed this last week of the season

Starting to get the feeling the WC clinching party was the Bombers 2015 celebration, they did party like they had won it all, so not even the players thought 87 / 88 wins was approachable..

Murph

Congrats boys you made us NYY fans proud wanting to win it in Texas and not NY

  1. Joey always presents himself as the smartest man in the room. I was reading about Posada recently who said that Joey’s style was to text him, rather than talk to him, when he was going to play him. It really pissed Posada off, who always liked Torre’s style of reaching out to his players in person and letting them know what was going on.

    • Hey Noogsie.. Unless these players were begging out of these games Girardi’s moves made no sense… i have to think Cashman was in on this too.. you rest on November 4th Not October 3rd

      Sal

      October 4, 2015 at 9:33 am

  2. Nice move Cash although Wilson has been a decent 7th inning guy but how bad could the Yanks use a clutch hitter????

“Francisco Cervelli is baseball’s top hitter from the seventh inning on, hitting .367. He’s followed by Adam Eaton (.341) and Xander Bogaerts (.339).

    • I must’ve missed this one, Sal. What the hell did he do now regarding Wilson? Cashman, that is.

  3. nice that Scherzer decided to show up vs the Mets, unfortunately when they were still alive Scherzer shit the bed… I did the math on Scherzer and Price’s average innings pitched a tick under 7 innings, so you still have to get 7 outs from your pen

But it’s better then having to get 9 to 10 outs

the Scherzer contract is crazy all deferred payments on a 7 years /$210M (2015-21)

they’ll also be paying him $15M per when his contract expires,

$15M installments each July 1 from 2022 to 2028, that’s on their books for a player they don’t have

deferrals reduce contract’s present-day value to $191,401,086 (by MLB.. that might be true and it looks like a smart move now, but wait until they have to pay out $15M for an empty locker

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 11:50 am

  4. So Hal needs to understand the cost of doing business is paying through the nose on the back end, he has 3 of those contracts now so I’m sure he understands, but next season he needs to do something about it

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 11:51 am

  5. Sal–Joey is a machine. Machines do not very often bring out the best in others. Have you ever heard a player say that he would run through a brick wall for Joey? I know I haven’t. How about the guys that we know and hear in New York who have played with him? Jeter, Cone, O’Neill, Wells, Posada and others. Is there or was there any praise whatsoever regarding Joey? Last night, again, McCann was crediting Bullpen Coach Gary Tuck with his improvement in throwing runners out. Posada has said the same thing. Wasn’t Girardi a catcher? Did you ever hear anyone ever credit him with making a positive improvement in their game? I don’t remember anyone doing it.
Maybe you need to take all I say with a grain of salt because I do not like Joey and am likely prejudiced.

    • Fellas first off thanks for all the updates over the weekend
best I could do would be follow by my phone so you guys cleared it up for me, much appreciated

mB Wilson was traded for Cervelli

First string catchers with balls fire and clutch are rare or expensive
I like Wilson just not sure he’s worth an everyday productive position player like Frankie

Noogsie good point on former players waxing poetic of Girardi maybe he’s trying to make up for his backup catching career with trying to be the smartest man in the room
      now
I think Girardi has a good future working for MLB TV
At the moment ARod seems to have his back which he should, Girardi kissed his ass when everybody else was killing him
I don’t Think Hal is confident enough in the business to turn his back on Girardi or Cashman those two guys are all he knows, we might be stuck with them

      Sal

      October 4, 2015 at 1:20 pm

    • Are you fucking kidding me!!!!! He traded Wilson for Cervelli!!!! I loved Cervelli, his fire & clutch hitting, but you trade one of your most reliable relief pitcher’s at this point??? Has he gone completely crazy???? I’d have him fitted & committed the same day!!!!!!!

      mosconebailbonds

      October 4, 2015 at 1:49 pm

  6. Bondsie he didn’t trade him now he traded for him in the off season….the fact Wilson has been one of the 3 effective relievers, he’s not a weapon but effective, makes losing Cervelli a tiny bit easier, but the Pirates got themselves a first string catcher that doesn’t make $17M per

McCann hits a lot of HR’s and I’m sure he talks a good game in the game plan but he’s not worth his contract and he’s blocking murphy Sanchez and obviously he was blocking Cervelli

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 3:06 pm

    • OY!!! My bad! Couldn’t figure out how he could do that now. Lingering effects from last night. Agreed on all accounts, but I like Wilson more than you. For the most part, I think he’s been outstanding for the bulk of the season. Let’s win one today, how about it???

      mosconebailbonds

      October 4, 2015 at 3:12 pm

  7. last week against Boston Reimold jogs after that ball and it drops

  10. If your gonna swing at the first pitch after Tilly has been 3 balls to both previous hitters make sure you hit it good Bubba

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 3:15 pm

  11. For a guy with Pinetop’s stuff he has WAY too many hits per innings pitched. Hope he reverses it today!

    mosconebailbonds

    October 4, 2015 at 3:17 pm

    • 1PP one pitch pineda can be great if the 1 pitch (slider) is working… dude can’t fight out of trouble though, at least that’s been his down fall

      Sal

      October 4, 2015 at 3:19 pm

    • Usually, you can tell a lot about Pinetop from the 1st inning. If he can get outta this, maybe we have a shot…

      mosconebailbonds

      October 4, 2015 at 3:22 pm

    • If his slider is working, I like our chances. If not, tell Don B to start warming up….

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 3:34 pm

  17. technically that’s another non hit with RISP, at least they got the run in….. Hopefully 1PP figures it out and holds them

Yanks should have 4 runs….Canada trying to get buehrle to 200 innings are getting smacked down if it holds WC winner plays KC

    mosconebailbonds

      Sal

      October 4, 2015 at 4:15 pm

    • How about Machado??? LMAO!!!

      mosconebailbonds

      October 4, 2015 at 4:40 pm

  32. D backs have second and third with two outs taking advantage of the pitchers error

    They scored 2-1

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 4:30 pm

  33. you use Beano in that spot really that’s your best option Fucking Beano?????? Girardi should be fired for using him, Cashman should be fired for allowing Beano on the team

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 4:45 pm

  34. yeah Ackely fucked up, but 1PP was dog shit, he was going down regardless… play Refsynder if these guys can’t play D at least he can hit….Pack light boys your only taking a one day trip

    mosconebailbonds

    October 4, 2015 at 4:48 pm

Imagine how much this is costing Hal, they lose the WC game revenue, then he has to fly all these mooks out West and put them in hotels lol…. They better pray Arizona can steal that one out there

      Sal

      October 4, 2015 at 4:55 pm

  36. 3 for 26

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 4:59 pm

  37. Salty whacked a double 3-2

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 5:04 pm

  38. I wonder if Arod gets a window or isle seat? All good mB maybe this wakes Hal up, unless they consider Tuesday’s game a play off game then he has a loop hole when he BS us in the off season… Play off’s too me don’t start until the LDS

Mitchell has completely lost it since the beaning, what a loss, this kid used to be good….

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 5:06 pm

    • I agree somewhat with Singleton. This kid had electric stuff, but he’s still learning to pitch.

      mosconebailbonds

      October 4, 2015 at 5:10 pm

  39. It’s official. It’s now reached the embarrassing level.

    mosconebailbonds

    October 4, 2015 at 5:08 pm

    • my guess that’s company line BS mB, Mitchell hasn’t been the same since the beaning, maybe he gets over it, he does have a nice arm, but so do a lot of kids or they wouldn’t have made it that far

I’m not saying give up on him, I like him too, but he’ll be 25 in April… some GM will see the same thing we all see, upside, and Cashman might trade him…. but then again Hal will try to use as many cheap pitchers as possible until they lose the Sabathia money after 2017.. CC is keeping them from acquiring an Ace type

I’ve seen enough of Pineda and Nova too bad, they both have decent stuff, but no focus, or toughness

      Sal

      October 4, 2015 at 5:21 pm

    • Maybe so, but I like his arm. It is amazing though. Sometimes Pinetop & Novacaine can be just outstanding…..and other times completely awful

      mosconebailbonds

      October 4, 2015 at 5:25 pm

  40. Here comes the fake comeback

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 5:50 pm

    • that’s why you might get something for both guys.. Nova is a FA after next season… Pineda is cheap so he won’t go anywhere unless some punch drunk GM does something stupid like trade him for a good prospect

      Sal

      October 4, 2015 at 5:52 pm

  43. D-Backs take the lead 5-3

    Sal

      mosconebailbonds

      October 4, 2015 at 5:56 pm

  44. Wonder if Pollock and Goldie are on Hal’s payroll?

Bird 31 RBI’s Ellsbury 33 lol.. I get the Doughboy is a lead off hitter but in 111 games if you didn’t try you should have 33 RBI’s at Ellsbury’s pay scale

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 6:00 pm

  45. Too bad they can’t find a way to win on Tuesday without having to win the game

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 6:01 pm

  46. tying run at the plate Ack Ack

    now DD

      Sal

      October 4, 2015 at 6:07 pm

  48. So Mitchell / Beano right now are the difference in this game, they gave up 3 runs

      October 4, 2015 at 6:49 pm

  66. here comes the spin boys 0-0 season blah blah blah… The first string couldn’t get it done today either… and technically if you couldn’t amp these guys up for this game then maybe no matter who the Genius played it wouldn’t have mattered

    Sal

    October 4, 2015 at 6:49 pm

    • ZERO…. Technically NYY made the playoffs so that’s the spin you’ll hear, that and the injury whining….

  68. ok on to the WC roster 9 pitchers 16 position players? Severino on the WC roster? probably not, he’s on 2 days rest… So Tanaka, Warren, CC, Wilson Betances, Miller are really the only guys worth a damn, the last 4 are just filler, they’re not even decent match up relievers.. and the Yanks wanted 3 starters on the WC roster they don’t even have that… If Tanaka gets bombed where you going? CC ?

  69. Pirates Cubs will be a great game Canada Texas good game Astros Royals will be competitive too

Yanks are like a square peg in a round hole here….shows you how good they were in the first half… too bad Tex and Alex are only half season players
