Mets Better Win Now

with 11 comments

The Wil-Ponzies

The Win Now Mets take their show on the road to the North Side of Chicago where  2014 Rookie of the Year Jake deGrom, and Super Action Hero future ex Met Daniel Murphy  will try to put the Theo Epstein Cubs in the same hole the 04 Yanks put the Epstein Red Sox, down  3-0

From my vantage point the Mets and Cubs are sort of the same but different.. The Marquee reads Mets stud pitchers vs Cubs Phenom young hitters, so far baseball  cliche has ruled as  great pitching has defeated good hitting..

Nobody can  predict baseball  so  we have no idea if the worm  turns tonight in the Second City, but we do  know one thing, the Cubs regardless of the outcome will  go out this winter and cure what ails them…

The Mets, are gonna let  their offense walk, Cespedes and Murphy will be gone like a July snow, and good chance the money that  would go  toward offense might land in the pockets of 2 or 3 stud pitchers.. It’ll be cheaper then paying for Free Agent offense, based on the Met pitchers are not ready to  fully cash in, your just  buying out Arbitration and possibly a few Free Agent yr.’s… If the small sample size of Met pitching domination  continues, the Tea Leaves will point in that  direction

As for the Cubs, the Tea Leaves appear to  read, Epstein armed with Hicks family money and an impending TV deal in Chicago, toss in the Billy Goat Jinx, will  continue to  build a balanced team.. Epstein has his offense under financial  control, it’s his pitching that needs the help, both rotation and bull pen

On October 12, 2011, Theo Epstein tired of dealing with the now retired / forced to  quit Larry Lucchino, the former CEO / President of the Red Sox, agreed to a five-year contract worth $18.5 million with the Chicago Cubs. About a week later it was reported that Epstein’s official title with the Cubs would be President and that San Diego Padres General Manager Jed Hoyer would take the GM position with the Cubs. Hoyer of course was a trusted assistant to Epstein in Boston

This is sort of a  new trend in baseball, I mean  all  teams have a Prez, but not many have the President as the star of the show, most of those guys are behind the scenes.. Billy Beane in Oakland was just promoted from GM to President, Trader Dave Dombrowski no longer slums it as a GM in Detroit,  he to is now President of Baseball operations in Boston, Andrew Friedman is another Rock Star President for the Dodgers

You need a score card to  find out who  the GM’s are in those cities.. Juxtaposed, Slide Rule Joey works for Brian Cashman who owns both titles in the Bronx, ( President and GM) and unfortunately the Bomber ownership  group knows the baseball business about as much  as I  know about solving Fermat’s Last Theorem, inherited, and have entrusted the whole Franchise to  these two  Alpha Male morons

Hence when their decisions go  south  so  do  the fall  guys, Long, Pentland, Tuck, and Jeter’s favorite head to pat in 2014 Mick Kelleher.. WTF did Kelleher do  wrong? And why does Joe Espada still have a gig? Or Babe Gardner for that matter?

Anyway long story short Mets are a win now team, in my mind… First off without any offense, will  the Mets score enough runs in 2016 to  win? They  didn’t seem to  click until  the calvary showed up in August and we all know how volatile pitching is.. Arms are babied in this era but they  seem more fragile then  ever, so we think a well balanced team is the way  to  go, the Mets won’t have that in another 2 months

Where’s Johnny?

Looks like future Boston Ace Fat Johnny Cueto took one on the chin last night as Team Canada flat out mugged the Fake Louie Tiant…The Dominican Tomato Can  doesn’t look like he can  take the road heat, that wasn’t his first  rodeo choking dressed  in away laundry in the playoffs

And if he thinks that  was bad, wait until he needs to  spend 5 yr’s in Boston.. Cueto was touted to get paid somewhere between Lester and Scherzer money that’s $155M to $215M… If anybody is crazy enough to  do  that they won’t have a gig long, so we can  see  Cueto offered  a higher AAV and less years, at least in Boston

They  already  screwed up  with Porcello, 4 yr’s $82.5M, and Cueto  will want more then 4 yr’s $100M, so not only did KC take it on the chin last night, but the best laid plans in Boston  were no  doubt put on hold. despite the Nation  claiming they  don’t take much  stock in small  sample size Playoff  games lol

I know they  think Trader Dave will  talk John Henry into  a $215M David Price contract, but Price and Grand Papi Ortiz don’t really see eye to  eye, keep dreaming Nation….

Back Into Dis

fat-elvis-mke

I heard this interview on my way back home yesterday, and Mikey 21 strapped on his  most comfortable knee pads, while tossing underhand beach  balls for Omar to knock out of the park

Mikey 21 doesn’t talk over guys he idolizes, or guys he needs to  call  to get his talk  show content, so  this was a good one..

  1. Sal–as you likely saw, the 24/7 people who monitor Mikey keep repeating Mikey’s line about Murphy “what is his plus?” So after trashing Murphy constantly, yesterday when I was in the car, I heard Mikey say that Murphy was ” a great situational hitter.” What? That sounds like a big plus to me, but only got invented by Mikey as of yesterday.
Another fruitcake in my opinion, is Harold Reynolds. Last night after Tulo goes yard, Harold says that Tulo (when healthy) is one of the top 5 players in the game. I am not too sure about that one. His stats have always been inflated in Colorado and never measure up on the road. Harold is one of those ” in the moment guys” —if he goes yard today, maybe Bautista will be Joe DiMaggio, in Harold’s World.
And regarding the firing of Gary Tuck—I’m holding my breath to hear the answer if Joey and Cashman ever give one. Looks to me it was just like throwing a few pounds of hamburger to a pack of hungry wolves.

  2. hey noogsie, i didn’t check in on the Mikey Monitoring today yet, but yes no doubt he’s squirming on his past Murphy takes

It’s just as easy to say I underestimated Murphy, especially after his guy Omar always said Murphy would be a good hitter.. In Mikey’s effort to tweak Met fans he used to bash Murphy

I’m noticing now that Bowles is coaching the Jets a guy Mikey touted, the Jets almost can’t do any wrong… I thought Bowles and Mikey were gonna pick out curtains in an interview I heard with the two of them

I don’t get the Tuck firing, unless Tuck gave Girardi shit about how he used the pen.. Unfortunately i did see some ratings organization gave Joey Slide Rule top honors for bull pen use… Yeah you give the ball to Betances and Miller, what’s yo know

The problem at the end of the season Betances was cooked and only 3 of the 15 guys out there in September were any good….

Tulo has always had Colorado splits and he finally did something last night…I guess he did smack a HR in the LDS

And yes when players are having a stellar game those analysts do jump on the band wagon

  3. Heyman: Yanks interested in pitching, yeah but what’s that got to do with paying Greinke $150M?

Please, and don’t give us that crap about anxiety disorders keeping Cash-ass from going after him, it’s the money..

Kendrick will get a QO so forget him too, do we see Cashman giving up a 1st round pick? No, plus lets just get younger and start the rebuild, stop blocking kids like Refsynder with 30 something yr olds.. Yanks aren’t ready to win in 2016

  5. Gary Sanchez, what to do with him? McCann blocks all the young catchers.. Will Hal eat some of his contract in 2017?.. It’ll be 3 yr’s left worth $51M.. that’s a lot of eating and still a lot of money for an aging catcher

  6. Does it matter who the next ex Bomber batting coach is? Babe Ruth could be the batting coach and it won’t help

  10. 1 more loss and we can flush Team Canada down the drain
    Hopefully game 5
That should shake up the Canada front office or get them to spend more money
