We’ll be Back Monday

Yankee ReHab

The David Price $217M contract certainly woke up  the 2015 Hot Stove season, but the question  remains, Is Boston burning while the Nation frantically lines up for Fenway tickets?

With the acquisition of MLB’s best Free Agent hurler, and the trade that  brought in a top 5 closer Craig Kimbrel will the ticket lines in Boston  resemble a Black Friday mad-dash at Walmart?

The Red Sox for the 2nd consecutive yr  have won the Off Season World Series!!

The payoff, they get  immediate and non-stop  exposure by the MLB media. They  also  get to be the Chalk pick for  winning the AL East, despite the Jays still having a lethal offense.. In fact maybe kick it up  a notch  with Devon Travis their outstanding young 2nd baseman  coming back

David Price blah blah blah, helped them  run away  with the Division, but lets not forget they scored 894 runs, the 2nd best run producers in baseball were the Yanks 698, yes an astonishing 196 run differential

Price pitched in 10 games as a Blue Jay, 4 vs the Yanks, he won 3 of them, the team lost one, and Price went 9-1 overall.. Toronto  acquired Price based on the amount of times they  had to  face the  older LHB heavy Bombers down the stretch

Question, what LHP in the 2nd half didn’t beat the NYY? The Yanks were  18 games over .500 in the first half, and they sucked after the All Star break.

Yes they  were still  4 games over .500, but they made their bones in the first  half before injuries and age caught up  to  them.. That’s right the only sure things in life are death, taxes, and the fact that Hind Sight and Father Time are undefeated

You can’t fix old, and thanks to long term moves such  as the Price signing  the Bombers have a slew of these contracts already on the books.. When they had their chance to resurrect the issue in 2014, they  added even more albatross contracts in Ellsbury, Tanaka, McCann and Beltran

So in a nut shell they  spent close to  a half Billion in salary, it’s not that Hal  was cheap, he was Stupid and misguided

Maybe Mick Kelleher, Gary Tuck, Kevin Long, and Billy Eppler advised Hal  to  give Ellsbury $153M, none of those guys are here anymore.. Of course that’s not the the case, so  who’s bright idea was it to throw good money after bad,  that’s our problem,  not the fact Steinbrenner didn’t drop $217M on David Price

As for the Red Sox, this will be the third time since 2011 that  they Won the Winter.. Carl Crawford Adrian Gonzalez spearheaded the Greatest Team Ever, Last yr Hanley Ramirez and Fenway Fats Pablo Sandoval were gonna bludgeon the rest of baseball  to  death  and Boston was the Chalk to  win it all

Now in comes Price a guy who  can’t buy a win in the big spotlight, Kimbrel  who is coming off his worst  season as an elite closer, and Chris Young who makes Brendan Ryan look like Babe Ruth  vs RHP are gonna just  help Boston run away  with the AL East

Sorry Nation  we’ve already  scene this movie as Mosconie would say..

Every team  that  talked trade with the Yanks wanted Severino, Bird, Judge, Sanchez, and Mateo

Don’t do it.. Price with no draft pick attached would have looked good in Stripes, but that’s fine, I’ve seen enough of these past their prime or maybe 3 yr’s left in that  arm type guys

Hell Tanaka only lasted 20  starts, now we have a $155M middle of the rotation specialist

You know who has it right Re: pitching, The Mets, not the Red Sox, not the Nationals, and obviously not the Dodgers

Next time Boston takes that nice shiny new Price Mobil out for a drive while we sit back  and enviously watch  with  our noses pressed against the living room picture window, remember how much gas that  sucker eats, and how much it cost to  fix it when it breaks down

The Yanks are gonna remain  status quo, I’m good with that, let Teixeira $23M, ARod $27.5M AAV, Tanaka $23M, Sabathia $23M, Beltran $15M, McCann $18M, Ellsbury $21M, Miller $9M earn their money

Let’s get Refsynder some reps to  see what  we have, lets figure out a way  to get Bird AB’s, when Beltran  goes down with an injury I wanna see Judge up here, I also  wanna see Sanchez 3 days a week the way we saw Murphy

I want Severino pitching evey 5 days, I would like O’Day or Tony Sipp in the pen to help Betances and Wilson, then I’m good

If all  that  fails we can  talk and reload after 2016, but for now let’s be the $220M Underdog that Could

Everybody enjoy the weekend see you all Monday

  2. Davidoff ( who I do not like much) makes some good points in today’s Post.

  3. I’m with you Sal, on most of those points. I want Sanchez to fill Murphy’s shoes this year & groom him for the lead role from understudy status in a couple of years when Bubba’s ready to go. O’day in the bullpen as an added arm would be nice. Maybe Cashman can think out of the box & somehow acquire a young cost controlled pitcher for not too much of a beating. Judge, maybe he needs a half a year of seasoning at SWB before they bring him up for good. He had some trouble adjusting to that upgrade when he got promoted. The money that is being thrown around this winter is only going to get worse on the heels of the Price contract. I’m all for waiting for these albatross contracts to expire. Enough with giving long term deals for big money to guys over 30. I’m all for spending the money when it makes sense. And NOT stupidly like they did with McCan’t, the Doughboy, & Beltran & Son.

      Hey fellas
yes good article by Ken Always off

Donny you know any good lawyers?

      Good points mB.

It’s a damn shame, like you guys always say Hal and the rest of baseball print money but they seem to short arm it to fill practical needs
Once the money comes off the books we’ll know if these kids can deliver
Then we’ll have the makings of another core Then Harper will be a 26 yr old FA then Hal will be tested

Gotta say not going for Moncada who wasn’t a cap issue still bugs me so does Soler and Chapman always pissed me off
      Non tax acquisitions

So this was the big Mikey suspense announcement lol

1 2 hr show for his buddy that no talent mamaluke Guitar Jimmy Dolan

Of course it’ll be star studded lol
Mikey Star fucker will in his glory

Kudos that it’s a benefit though good job there
unless it’s one of those pay me $10K then you keep the rest type deals

Dolan’s keyboard player is on the road with us I’ll find out, that’s if I can catch him between nods
I hope you can contain the suspenseful anticipation

    • Great drop Big D

I’m gonna tackle this when I Get back

I’m wondering what George would say or do if he was paying out a $26m tax penalty ?

That’s the question we’ll never know

This article mentions high revenue incoming in one sentence and declining revenue in another

I still think the acquisitions were asinine and that remains the problem

That and Hal is full of shit stating the $200m thing that number will be eclipsed shortly

Tanaka makes $50m less then Kershaw Greinke and Price Hal’s running out of rope

Sell the team to Trump or Cuban if you can’t take the heat

  7. ‘Twas the night before Chanukah

‘Twas the night before Chanukah, boychicks and maidels
Not a sound could be heard, not even the draidels.

The Menorah was set on the chimney, alight
In the kitchen the Bubba hut gechapt a bite.

    Salami, pastrami, a glessala tay

And zayerah pickles with bagels, oy vay!

Gezunt and geschmack, the kinderlech felt
While dreaming of tagelach and Chanukah gelt.

The clock on the mantlepiece away was tickin’

And Bubba was serving a schtickala chicken.

A tumult arose like a thousand brauches,
Santa had fallen and broken his tuches.

I put on my slippers, eins, tsvay, drei,
While Bubba was now on the herring and rye.

I grabbed for my bathrobe and buttoned my gotkes
While Bubba was busy devouring the latkes.

To the window I ran and to my surprise

A little red yarmulka greeted my eyes.

Then he got to the door and saw the Menorah,
    “Yiddishe kinder,” he said, “Kenehora.

I thought I was in a goyisha hoise,

But as long as I’m here, I’ll leave a few toys.”

With much gesshray, I asked, “Du bist a Yid?”

“Avada, mein numen is Schloimey Claus, kid.”

“Come into the kitchen, I’ll get you a dish,
    A guppell, a schtickala fish.”

With smacks of delight, he started his fressen,
Chopped liver, knaidlach and kreplah gegessen.

Along with his meal, he had a few schnapps,
When it came to eating, this boy was the tops.

He asked for some knishes with pepper and salt,
But they were so hot, he yelled “Oy Gevalt.”

Unbuttoning his haizen, he rose from the tisch,
And said, “Your Kosher essen is simply delish.”

As he went to the door, he said “I’ll see you later,
I’ll be back next Pesach, in time for the Seder.”

More rapid than eagles his prancers they came,
As he whistled and shourted and called them by name:

“Now Izzy, now Morris, now Yitzak, now Sammy,
Now Irving and Maxie, and Moishe and Mannie.”

He gave a gesshray as he drove out of sight:

“Gooten Yomtov to all, and to all a good night.”
