Christmas Eve 12/24/24

Merry Christmas Eve

Ah Christmas Eve, as kids it used to be a dope night, the families would get together, and eat food that  you never heard of during the regular season, plus there was always more Booze….

But slowly as the years peeled away  it got to be just  another few days where you can’t get anybody in the trades  to do anything lol

Just kidding of course, for everyone with  families or a loved one or two, I hope your having a very Joyous Holiday Season

Chairman of the Bored

What would Christmas be without the Don Rickles and Frankie Sinatra

Working in the Coal Mine

As a kid we  used to heat with coal, so I never got the Coal in your Stocking thing, instead our top  10 Grinch list, or the Don Mossi Awards

mossi

Brendan Ryan

As predicted by our very own Big D, Ryan was gone from the Cubs faster then a July snow.. Theo Epstein needed to  balance out the money exchanged so Ryan  and his $1M option were the PTBNL in the Castro  deal

Makes you  wonder why Cashman had this guy in the first place….Also makes you wonder why the league allowed Boston  to dump a Quarter Billion in bad contracts to LA without forcing them  to  take back  salary ??

And for all  the happy NYY fans, be-careful, Ryan is now free to  roam  the MLB streets… I can see Cashman  taking him back, even if it’s  a minor league deal

Odell Beckham Jr

Well Joe Beningo is back to being a butt head, the Don B’s favorite NFL wide receiver OBJ will be suspended after all

the Don B chimes in so  get out the way…

He was another orange haired punk anyway, but fair is fair.
Both Teams were complicit.

Nope upheld on appeal.
No showboat punk Star this week.
Poor Coach Coughlin has lost this Team, I think.

Tough to hold back  when they’re taunting you, Giants could use a real leader who can  rope these kids in.. Playing sports or Boxing really pissed off is the oldest trick in the book

Josh Norman and Cortland Finnegan

Apparently Josh Norman  who was OBJ’s dance partner in that Giant / North Carolina debacle will have to  cut down on his Xmas presents, the league penalized him $26K

Finnegan from what I understand is no  angel  so his character continues to be in question

Fred Wilpon

Think  you have it bad as a Yankees fan, well it could be worse, Fred Wilpon could own the team  you root for.

The industry values Wilpon’s top  5 pitchers to be worth $1Billion dollars if they  were on the market, Wilpon is paying Harvey, deGrom, Syndegaard, Matz, and Familia $9.5M

That  type of value allows you to fix the holes on your roster,  but instead, Wilpon decided to trade Niese for Walker, an even money swap, and sign an over the hill Asdrubal Cabrera for 2 yr’s at $18.5M

GM Sandy Alderson mentioned when  the fans start  to  show up  we’ll  start  to  spend money, well the chickens have come home to  roost…

but

Instead of replacing the two players offensively responsible for carrying the team ( Cespedes in the 2nd half, Murphy in the playoffs) and plugging their  middle of the order Wilpon instead brought in Cabrera and 4th /5th OFer  Al  De Aza

To  replace Niese they  resigned 42 yr old Bartolo Colon for $7.2M, which I think  is the best  deal  they made all  winter… Walker was also  a decent trade, Niese was expendable and it saved Wilpon handing Murphy $60M as a free agent

Wilpon is a disgrace, he has the most prime baseball  real estate in the league (NYC area) and he fields a $100M payroll which is bottom  third in the league

Wilpon should be run out of baseball, but this is a case of the Good old Boys connection  gone bad..

Yes  the Bombers have gone into a 4 corners stall with their checkbook this off season, but they just  paid out $26M in tax penalties and they’re holding the note on a $220M payroll

Pete Rose

On August 24, 1989, nearly twenty-five years ago, Commissioner Bart Giamatti, after an in-house investigation, announced that Rose, baseball’s all-time hits leader and one of history’s greatest players, was banned for life for gambling on baseball.

It’s safe to  say the only way Pete gets into  the baseball Hall of Fame is to  buy  a ticket, that  said, he’s getting more buzz ink  then Donald Trump so  he’ll  still  find a  way  to  cash in

Pete might be better off playing the victim, after all he’s viewed as  a transformational player. He helped define an era in baseball. Simply put, he is one of the greatest players of all time.

Unfortunately Pete isn’t bullet proof, and he bet on the game… Is it hypocritical to ridicule Rose despite modern sports  in this era being  heavily involved with Fantasy gambling, Yes

MLB Rule 21 provides that a player will be banned for life if he bets on a game in which he is involved. Here’s the language of that Rule:

“Any player, umpire, or club or league official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform shall be declared permanently ineligible.”

That  said one of the most famous ball players from the early 1900’s Shoeless Joe Jackson was part of the Black Sox scandal of 1919, when eight Chicago White Sox were accused of throwing the World Series in exchange for money from gamblers. The scandal had the potential of toppling the game and MLB acted quickly by implementing Rule 21.

Pete admitted he’s still  gambling, so Manfred bounced him.. somehow I think Pete will  figure out how to put food on his table

Aroldis Chapman

This whole incident is still under investigation, personally I’d make an attempt to  trade for this guy, his asking price has dropped, but it seems like we have a  politically correct case scenario clouding Chapman’s character

The Steinbrenner’s want the illusion of running a  squeaky clean organization, sort of like the NY Giants, but yet they have guys like LT  and OBJ as Brand icons

The Yanks were harboring ARod, Clemens, even the revered Andy Pettite was popped, stretching the law

Bad MFer’s like Chad Curtis, Louie Polonia, and Chuck Knoblauch donned the stripes, so  we’ve had a few dubious characters who’s actions / decisions off the field were questionable, but the talent prevailed

Anyway  no team is touching Chappy with a  ten  foot pole, so it’s all moot

Mikey Francesa

In the most over the top  rant I’ve herd in ages Mike Francesa ripped into OBJ like the dude just bombed a Shopping Mall

Take it easy big boy, your the same gasbag who protected a lying to  your face Alex Rodriguez, then danced around the fact Rodriguez used him like a roll of toilet paper

Francesa also  backs his buddy Guitar Jimmy Dolan another silver spooned dousch  bag who  runs the Garden, not to mention Lawrence Taylor who has made his share of terrible off the field decisions too

Francesa also has a quick  trigger finger especially if your a faction of the unwashed masses… Meanwhile Francesa will  embarrassingly  dry hump  your leg if your a Media Star

  1. If he was so badly taunted then pay em back by winning the game by helping your beleaguered QB, not by giving the Game away !
Today’s “Stars” pale in comparison to the Warriors of old, imho.
