Question Mark and the Mysterious

with 5 comments

Nobody knows what the 2016 NY Yankees are, they  have more questions then an inquisitive 1st grade Science class, but over the last few days even the question marks have questions…

Over at  the Jersey Boys  Site

Ryan Hatch brought up  a good question, who  the hell in Yankeeville is communicating with Masahiro Tanaka?

Bone spurs, what bone spurs? Elbow, what  elbow? Opening Day  starter ?

Earlier on Monday Rothschild said that it’s “reasonable” Tanaka could throw 200 innings in 2016, but wouldn’t even commit to whether he’s ready for Opening Day.

Said Tanaka on the topic:

“Right now, I don’t think it’s the right time or appropriate  time to answer that.”

In a Spring Training world where all  we hear is I’m in the best shape of my life, Tanaka and Larry the Stable Guy aren’t sure if TJ  is ready for opening day?

I don’t blame him if he’s not, he’d be facing Bomber Kryptonite Dallas Kuechel, so  the Yanks are already 0-1 and it’s February 23rd

Girardi  of course went into his Steinbrenner Press Secretary mode when pressed about communicating with his Ace, so  we skipped his BS, it’s in the link if you care to be hoodwinked by a car salesman

Tanaka admitted he needs to  do  a better job

Later Tanaka said, “Yeah, [communication] is important. Not just Joe, but Larry [Rothschild] also. Just work with them, see how my body feels and move from there.

Every player has bumps and bruises, most players keep  to  themselves about it, so if it was as easy as I’m making it, anybody could do it,  we shouldn’t expect much  to  change

TJ Tanaka continues to be a day  to day headache, every move he makes could be his last for the season..Nice comfortable $175M investment Hal…

As Tanaka Turns is a daily Soap Opera,  “Let’s Be Honest” hearing he’s done or out for 15 to  30  days will be as routine as putting your pants on one leg at  a time

Manfred’s Most Wanted: Itchy Chapman?

The Question mark  that’s starting to bug me is what Sheriff Manfred-o will do  with Itchy Chapman who  wasn’t in camp  yesterday?

We should find out any day now what suspension Sheriff Manfred-o will lay on Chapman…

Joel Sheman thinks Manfred-o will knee cap Chappy, for 30 to 40 games thanks to that NFL thug Goodell going soft on Ray Right Hand Rice, who cold-cocked his girlfriend in an elevator

Chappy was found innocent, but what he has going against him, his girlfriend is now his Ex-girlfriend so she bolted, his itchy trigger finger shot up the family garage, so that proves he has a screw loose, and the worse case scenario, this is Manfred-o’s first rodeo handing out penalties under his new domestic abuse policy

If he goes soft on Chapman he’ll no doubt send a message the tail is wagging the dog..

Yanks could lose Itchy Chapman for 25% of their games, which makes trading Wilson and not signing Tommy Hunter or someone with his experience a huge mis-step by Cashman

Cashman also had a shot to sign Ike Davis but Texas grabbed him on a minor league deal first, both moves could come back and bite the Director of Spending

30 or 40 games is excessive, and I’m wondering if Manfred will actually make public what his investigation found? I’m also  wondering if Chapman’s agent Latin singer Marc Anthony the former Mr Jennifer Lopez is paying off Itchy Chapman’s girlfriend?

The quicker we get this done, then quicker we get Chapman back in the pen, losing a weapon for 30  to 40 games sucks, it’s long enough to impact 25% of the games, but not long enough keep Chapman  from being a free agent..

Tipping the Scales

Also in this Sherman link is the notion Chasen Shreve was tipping his 4 seam fastball during the end of last season, hence he was whacked so hard they kept him off the playoff roster

Here’s my question, the kid was dominate

From the beginning of the season through Sept. 5 – the period in which Shreve excelled – hitters were 17-for-95 (.179) off Shreve’s four-seamer. From then until the end of the season, opponents were 8-for-16 (.500) off the four-seamer with those three homers.

Your trying to tell me all of a sudden he started to “tip his 4 seamer” how about he just  ran out of gas from over-use? Again this notion the underbelly of your bull pen should be guys you find on the cheap once again rears it’s ugly head

When is baseball  gonna catch up with the fact, the 7 man pen isn’t where you go  to  save a few shekels, and having 2 or 3 weapons is nowhere near enough ammo to make it through a 162 game season

Especially when your rotation is susceptible to injury, and you really can’t go  to  a 6 man rotation based on, in this case it upsets the balance of your pen

Teams insist on carrying a Mop, who  you really don’t use in any high leverage situation, now your down  to  5 useable pieces that have the manager and pitching coach’s trust.. Last yr down the stretch Girardi  only had 3 guys he trusted once Shreve imploded

Fenway Fats

Boston’s $95 million dollar tub of shit sends a message lol

“I don’t got nothing to prove,” Sandoval said. “It’s not a disappointment. It’s baseball. It’s surprising. You’re not going to have the whole season great. You’re going to have some ups and downs. You have to prepare yourself to be ready. And when those down moments come, shake it off and keep working hard to do everything you can do to prove next year will be better than that.”

Speaking of eating how much salary  will  the Red Sox have to  eat to get rid of this pant load?

  1. Nova is supposedly looking good, funny how all winter long they tried to get rid of him, now he’s an important piece to the puzzle

Judge has a lot of eyes on him, man do they need this kid to make that first big step

  2. Looks like Sandoval & Brickhouse were on the same See-Food diet this winter. Sandoval’s went to his stomach, & it appears Brickhouse’s went to her chest! Just an observation….
