  2. From Vanilla Jennings

One thing worth considering with Eovaldi: His best starts this year have come with Austin Romine behind the plate. Given the way Romine has played, is it worth trying to match them up more often and not just use Romine against occasional lefties? “I’ll leave it up to Joe,” Eovaldi said. “I feel comfortable with both of the catchers back there. Romine’s done an amazing job back there for me, and Mac too. I have great communication with both catchers. It doesn’t matter to me.”

And speaking of Romine, the sample size is still fairly small, but he’s been excellent. John Ryan Murphy, on the other hand, has been optioned to Triple-A by the Twins. “Just being able to slow the game (down),” Romine said. “I’ve been here. I’ve been in this situation before. I know how to prepare for hitting every four, five days. Being the backup catcher you get to play once a series, maybe. Being able to prepare myself to hit, going on a couple days now, it’s a hard thing to do. But it’s just being able to slow the game down.”

  3. just saw a score Islanders down 3-0 after 2 periods… With any luck they get bounced from the playoffs, so all left is the NBA playoffs to distract from baseball

that and the never ending NFL crap…They’ll start to cover wind sprints and voluntary workouts without pads

Oh yeah the never ending coaches search in the NBA, that’s riveting… meanwhile 10 minutes of baseball

Francesa will no doubt have to put a bow on the Islander series, and without a doubt put a bow on the Kentucky Derby….

We might get some baseball if Matt Harvey loses today, but so far he’s pitching a no hitter vs the Tanking Padres

are there any decent teams in the NL besides the Cards Pirates Cubs Nats Dodgers and Giants? the Mets should win 130 games with the competition they’re facing

    • lol, they never learn do they

the kid made a few mistakes for sure, but hands down his best outing of the year, I’m ecstatic over the way he pitched.. And we can’t get delusional over a few wins, this team is still loaded with older players who are past their prime.. It’s a bridge yr

Two meatballs to Ortiz, and a joke HR by Pedroia that Hicks or Judge catch… Red Sox fans couldn’t believe that HR… Beltran looks like willie Mays out there, the Mets version

anyway Yanks weren’t gonna touch that Circus Freak,Wright, he owns them..

For me this game was all about seeing if Severino could pitch better, and his change up and slider were great..

Chapman comes back tomorrow, Yanks couldn’t get this game over fast enough, they had the bus running and the room service ordered by the 6th inning

  8. It’s great Chapman is coming, but the middle relief is still shaky, Shreve and Barbarto have it the Cashman pumpkin patch, so they need to regroup there meanwhile Warren and Wilson are killing it

I can understand Warren, although he’s killing it with the Cubs…you got Castro who is a major knucklehead, but he’s talented in other areas and with the Yanks messing up the Cano stuff, it’s the best they can do at the moment

Trading Wilson for a AAA starter who doesn’t move the needle looked like pure Cashman stupidity, but he’s hit a rough patch for Detroit so the jury is out

  9. I had my hopes too high and then saw a Groundhog Day Grand Papi and Paper Boy beat down of a listless club last night.
Severino did look much better, however, so there is hope there. Ellsbury should be back soon, so his next injury will also be soon.
As a diversionary tactic, I look to other places to make me smile. RN’s Funhouse has a clip of Mikey 21 and his totally wrong predictions lately. Not mentioned is his Kentucky Derby pick, but not to worry, Mushnick is right on that in his article today. He also goes after other pertinent topics–like Glaucoma John. The Barry Bonds intentional walking part is absolutely hilarious.
It all helps me deal better with Joey Claps, Yankee Management, and Cashman
Cadillac remains on cruise control. 16 cylinders and all.
