Lumber Liquidators

with 30 comments

The Yanks quickly went back to playing like sellers over the last 2 games.. Only a brilliant outing by Eovaldi and the Holy Smoke saved their one hit wonder on Sunday in Tampa..

Last night the offense looked just  bad again as Canada’s Cy Estrada commenced to shooting fish in a barrel, an easy  8 innings, 3 hits, no runs,  defeating the Yanks in game one 4-2

Estrada had the Yanks mesmerized for the 2nd time in a week… They only managed a lead off 1st inning single by Ellsbury,  a 3rd inning walk to Ellsbury, a 4th inning single by Beltran that  was erased by a McCann Dp..

And a 5th inning walk to Castro, snuffed out by a D-Gregorius  DP..

The Bombers did momentarily come off the respirator in the 8th after a Castro lead off walk and a 2 out double by Hicks, but Ellsbury looking to go Big Fly popped up..

In the  9th inning, McCann belted a HR off reliever Aaron Loup to  insert some life into  this DOA offense… Teixeria seemed to also  momentarily  wake up smacking a double off Drew Storen, but Castro  and Headley both  coming up  as the tying run couldn’t produce the clutch hit

Lumber Liquidators

Liquidator:  Person appointed by the shareholders or unsecured creditors, or on a court order, to manage the winding up of a firm by selling off its assets.

Check √

The Yanks are back to looking like  the team  we feared they  would be this winter… Actually, offensively they look worse, if that’s even possible.

ARod was once again missing in action, I mean physically, he was on the bench, but why?…

I was on the ARod can’t be 33 Hr’s, 81 RBI’s  good again bandwagon, but I didn’t think he would hit the absolute skids

It was just a day off, Psycho Joe said, though Rodriguez has struggled badly at the plate since returning from a three-week disabled list on Thursday. He’s got just one hit — albeit a 440-foot homer — in his last 16 at-bats. He has nine strikeouts over that span.

It seems every so  often when Rodriguez hits a 400 foot meatball over the fence, the pro Alex Team hopes this is the  bump that jump  starts the flatline

but

May hasn’t helped his baseball DOA cause,

.683 OPS,  .184 BA, .262 on base % and a  .421 Slg %

And neither has his 2016 slash line

 .170 .240 .409 .649..

That’s your  clean up  hitter, and that’s Psycho Joe’s  worst 2015 nightmare showing up  a year  later.. No doubt the Yanks would have loved to  cut bait after ARod’s 2015 first half / season, but not only are they stuck with him this yr, but 2017 too…

The Good News

It can’t get any worse before it gets better !

The Bad News

How much better can it get from how bad it is?

It looks more like his 40 yr old body has absorbed too many nagging injuries for it to perform in the middle of an MLB batting order…

“I don’t know what I’m doing (Tuesday) yet,” Psycho Joe said.

He was asked why.

“I just haven’t made it yet,” Girardi said, before adding that Rodriguez was healthy.

ARod has a tough time hitting J.A. Happ today’s starter.. Mr Wojiciki has  posted a career mark of 0-for-14 with three strikeouts and three walks off Happ.

Or Ass Mike Francesa would say,

“in little league dey taut us dat  a walk iz ass good ass a hit” so ARod will have some value vs Happ, except da Binda is screaming to sit him..

Refsynder the DH?

Tex Marks His Plot

We can throw the very fragile Teixeira into the same sinking boat  as ARod.. They gave him a shot in the neck and that’s supposed to  keep him upright for the next 4 months of a baseball  grind?

Teixeira has been statistically  worse then ARod so you wonder how healthy this dinosaur really is?

.195 .291 .286 .577 3 HR’s 12 RBI’s

I guess you can  say boy we really miss Greg Bird, but how much  would Bird be playing with these two relics loitering around the clubhouse taking down $44M or an 1/8 of the whole Bomber payroll?

Don’t get me wrong, a healthy Bird, providing he wasn’t gonna  go  down that Severino  bust  road would  have allowed CashMan  to DL Teixeira or ARod, or both.. Sort of  Tessio Ride the two train wrecks the way Dombrowski jettisoned  Fenway Fats out of town in Boston.. The two Ball  and Chains gone would have then opened up  a spot, or Bird would have been caddying both antiques, that  was the  original plan

I guess the Fabulous Faux would have looked better then it does now, but no worries, one more win, possibly 2 in a row, and the media will whistle past the graveyard once again..

“Yanks aren’t dead yet, and it’s not in their DNA, they’ll never Liquidate at the dead line”

“How will  they  ever fill  the seats at the Casino / Mall on Rivera Avenue if they  sell off their inventory”?

“The good news is we are still in it this year and Tex and I haven’t gotten going,” Rodriguez said. “It would be great to see us get going together. I want to see how good we can be if we are producing.

OK we’ll  wait a little longer Alex, but we’re not buying any of what  you’re selling

Also crawling along the starboard bow of the Sinking Ship Steinbrenner is Captain Gardner who is now mired in a 1-24, 0 for his last 19 slump that’s making us all  seasick.. Or maybe the Captain isn’t mired, he’s just “trending normal”

You take one step forward,  2 steps back, you’re  Team OPS is last, and that’s  a fact..

Maybe Hal should  promote Bunny Hop Bobble Head Night, a remixed Eddie Layton organ version of the Bunny Hop, downloadable of course.. Bunny Hop Day  at the Mall on Rivera Avenue, for a nominal  fee you get to  dance around Monument Park, while Eddie’s organ sounds bounce off the hallowed Yankee Stadium walls

Hal better start  to  sell  the Old Yanks, although he would be surprised how much his fanbase would enjoy him selling the New Ones instead..

  1. From Mushnick

    Francesa right, says Francesa

There’s no mystery in Matt Harvey’s decline, which Monday may have been reversed. Shortly after Mike Francesa shouted that Harvey’s just bogus Mets-issued “hype,” Harvey showed up unhittable.

That’s when Francesa revised his take to declare that he essentially discovered Harvey, identified him as the next Tom Seaver “the moment I saw him!”

Then, until Monday, it was all downhill for Harvey.

And, of course, after declaring the Thunder “awful” (he denied saying it, but an un-lost tape proved he did), thus they’d be destroyed by the Spurs in the second round, Monday night they played to advance to the NBA Finals. As professional “experts” run, only a fool or a fraud — or both — could dismiss a talented team such as OKC as “awful.”

Last week, Sitting Bull combined his arrogance and ignorance — the main ingredients in bigots — to condemn and mock Sports Illustrated for running a cover story on soccer. He then acknowledged he knows nothing about soccer — as if he knows a lot about other sports — yet continued to trash the world’s most popular sport on the megalomaniacal grounds that he knows nothing about it!

    He should stick to meteorology.

    • lol… NL baseball…

Donny I remember when we were rolling as smooth as a Dick Weber bowling ball, you were running for some political office, congressman or legislator, or whatever, and we were doing a fund raiser.. You had the whole park eating out of your hand, until you addressed that stress question, and I’ll never forget how hard we hit the mat after you said
“Stress my friend is the confusion created when one’s mind over-rides the basic desire to choke the living shit out of some asshole who desperately needs it!”!

Not only did we lose half the vote, the other half bolted when we made up T-Shirts that read the same thing…..

  3. Sal—great report, as it usually is. As a lifelong Yankee Fan, I find them boring to watch. The only fun is when the three closers get to pitch and then blow the opposition away. Winning a game with only one hit will likely not happen again anytime soon.
Camera shots of Psycho Joe in the dugout reveal that all sharp metal objects should be removed from his immediate area. His post game pressers after a loss should be required viewing for all college students, majoring in psychology.
I truly believes that his demeanor makes all his players tight and therefore pressing like hell.
Do they ever look like they’re having fun?
I guess the Gatorade baths count, but that doesn’t happen hardly ever. They win when the closers do their thing and not when they mount a rally and a walk off.
Everything I’ve ever read is that Posada absolutely hates Psycho Joe and Cashman. Psycho would text Posada his last year and let him know that way if he was playing. It drove Posada nuts.
I think he is really hard to play for.

    • Noogsie good points, I think ARod is Psycho Joe’s only Al-lie….He’s playing these guys like it’s a computer game, and he’s doing it because he knows they’re either past their prime, or they came to the Yanks because they weren’t very good on their previous teams… and that doesn’t breed confidence, we need Don Mattingly

The team has no leader, ARod is trying to ride out on a white horse so he’s mastered the art of bull shitting, Teixeira is trying to fake his way through injuries, Ellsbury still can’t believe they paid him that much money so he’s just tagging along, Captain Gardner couldn’t lead in a one man race, nobody can understand D-Gregorius or Castro when they talk….

I guess McCann, an Atlanta Brave is the team leader, he’s another guy who pinches himself everyday for being handed $85M over 5 yr’s, so part of his gig is to shill for P-Joe and the Family

    • Nooger is correct, they are boring. Nova has a career Era of 7.20 vs the jays-maybe they could adjust the rotation? They lost to Estrada last week, obviously learned nothing, made no adjustments and lost again. Does not bode well facing JA Crappie again!!! Gardy 0-20, McCann 0-21 before the homer-pathetic!!! Refsnyder back up maybe he will actually get to play this time.

  5. Wifey-poo said same thing DB7 about not making adjustments after getting killed by Estrada, swung at all the same pitches,, even Singy said it.

  10. Great hustle by Romine
Too bad clutch isn’t in this teams vocabulary

At least Hicks hustled in the run

This checking every play at first base is stupid

You should get s certain amount of requests

Man Boston is killing the Orioles early

    Sal

    May 31, 2016 at 7:37 pm

    • Boston hits line to line is there anybody in that lineup not hitting .300

Betts had 2 Hrs already tonight my God

And the cheap bastard Cashman and Steinbrenner didnt want to pay Chili Davis

      Sal

      May 31, 2016 at 7:44 pm

  11. Sal–Boston is an example of what you mentioned when Refsnyder doubled about young guys needing to break out. We don’t know what Refsnyder can do, but we know what the old guard isn’t going to improve.
There was a big shot of energy when Jeter came up and took off. About ten years later it was Cano. Posada also made his mark for an aging catching staff, including Girardi.
That is what we really crave now.

    noogerguy

    May 31, 2016 at 8:24 pm

    • Boston went through 2 1/2 yr’s of futility developing those kids Noogsie, Yanks are trying to fake a playoff run in an effort to sell tickets to the clueless millennials and the corporate pink hats

i think you might be on to something, these guys can’t catch a groove with Girardi playing computer baseball, good chance they hate playing for him, like Cano did

  12. Refsnyder wears #38, I wonder if he wears it in honor of Matt Nokes or cause it was Yogi’s 1st uniform # ?
    What do youse think ?

    • Donny 38 is a swing number
A lot of these guys coming up wear it

      Well that move backfired

CC could have given up 3 runs

Why ph Ref for that bum Gardner

Let the friggin kid hit enough with match ups for Christ sake I could strike out Gardner

Girardi needs a job with MLBTV
Get this friggin robot outta here

  13. Betts 3 HR’s tonight

Ellsbury only has 2 HR’s all yr

Yanks 1 for 7 with RISP
The only hit didn’t score a run

    May 31, 2016 at 9:13 pm

  14. Girardi yanks C. C. With 80 pitches only doesn’t trust his big guy to pitch out of a jam, puts in Betances the wunderkind, on the other network Thor is left in to clean up his mess.
Guess who is in line for the W ?
See ? Package DB with McCant,, ok ?

  15. 22 of 51 games 2 runs or less

Bad throw by Ref two cheap hits off Betances

    Great night by Sabathia

Jays just punch the ball vs guys like Betances,Yanks swing for the fences no matter the game situation
Cockrell isn’t getting his message across

Yanks 7 1/2 out now lose a series

    May 31, 2016 at 9:57 pm

  16. you could bring Babe Ruth in to be the hitting coach and these guys still wouldn’t rake, we already learned that when they fired Long, but at what point does Cockrell get his walking papers?
