It Got Over Early

with 48 comments

Late Saturday night former Director of Spending Brian CashMan was given the OK to break up Hal’s father’s Yankees. By Sunday morning the last of CashMan’s big reliever assets, Andrew Miller, was on his way to Cleveland for outfielder Clint Frazier, lefty Justus Sheffield and right-handers Ben Heller and J.P. Feyereisen

Al Yankzeera’s biggest nightmare, #TeamSell, has finally come home to  roost, forget the Dark Ages, we might be headed into  the Dark Stage era of Yankees baseball.. Or not!! As one disgruntled Bomber fan standing on line at Best Buy purchasing his 3rd TV of the season said

I’d rather watch Refsnyder learn to play 1st then that big stiff nostril “no run” texeira,
How does # 13 not retire out of embarrassment?
The mighty white McCant too?
Go back to Atlanta and quickly !!

So It’s not like Hal needed extra security to help control an overflow crowd of people anxiously waiting  to pay for those Fat Cat cush seats up front, “let’s be honest” Brillo Levine could have paid off ARod’s remaining $30M salary by just  selling ad’s attached to the empty ones we’ve seen all year

Possibly, with the White Flag Psycho “I don’t ever wave a white flag” Joe said isn’t being waved flying vigorously   over the Mall on Rivera Avenue, there will be enough empty seats / billboards to help pay for whatever part of Bubba McCann’s contract Atlanta can’t afford, ditto Captain Gardner and hopefully  his new digs..If CashMan  can get anything back  for Ivan Nova throw his hat in the ring for a  Nobel Prize in Economics..

I’m not sure what the fans were coming to  see before the big sell off, CSPAN had a better line-up.. Perhaps the only excitement came from the last 9 outs, Beltran  and D-Gregorius’ AB’s, or Tanaka if he had 5 days rest?

The last expiring contract on CashMan’s agenda is the Don B’s favorite Bronx Belter, Carlos Beltran.. Possible landing spots for Beltran

Buster Olney
✔@Buster_ESPN
Among the teams talking about a Carlos Beltran deal: Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Indians.

7:35 PM – 31 Jul 2016

CashMan is doing just  fine bringing back quantity in his two  deals with Chicago  and Cleveland, hopefully a few of these 7 prospects and Adam Warren makes 8 pan out.. Miller  Chapman, and Beltran hitting like an MVP on a losing team  was a once in a lifetime gift for an organization needing a hard core re-boot

Per Sensie Joel Sherman, the Yanks are a 24 hour service at the moment

Besides Beltran, the Yankees continue to listen to inquiries on Brian McCann, Brett Gardner, Nathan Eovaldi and Michael Pineda, and hope to find a landing spot for Ivan Nova before Monday’s 4 p.m. deadline.

Hal hasn’t completely gone rouge, he’s still playing hardball on a Beltran prospect return.. So  far CashMan  has exploited the market getting back the Cubs and Indians  #1 prospects plus some depth insurance in case the hype on the big 2 (Torres and Frazier) doesn’t pan out

With Betances in the mix, and a less then stellar supporting cast, but serviceable Warren  and Clippard carrying his water, remaining status quo and trading no one allows the Al Yankzeera publicity team to  stay in business selling a fake fight to  the finish battle cry

But

Once Beltran goes, the only excitement left in the Bronx will be to  hand ARod the daily DH job, and watch  him try to reach 700 HR’s, keeping an eye on Severino, Green, Romine,  Refsynder, Betances, Warren, D-Gregorius, Tanaka and Castro…The rest of the team is irrelevant unless you want to monitor what  to  do  with Pineda and Eovaldi  this winter…

  1. Miller said all the right things when he left, but do you think he’s happy too be in a pennant race with a few of his old buds from Boston

  2. from Wally Matthews:

The seeds for the great sell-off — and the Yankees can call it whatever they like, but if it quacks like a duck, please pass the sauce a l’orange — were planted in December 2007, when someone in Yankees ownership (read: Hank Steinbrenner) decided to override the recommendation of general manager Brian Cashman and reward Alex Rodriguez with a contract extension and a raise.

This is not to be interpreted as blaming A-Rod for the Yankees’ current plight; neither he nor his then-agent, Scott Boras, marched up to Hank’s office with a gun and a mask. The Yankees offered him the deal — an unprecedented $275 million in salary and another potential $30 million in home-run bonuses — and he would have been crazy not to take it. (And, crazy to walk away from it before every last dollar is paid.)

But the decision to make that deal, as well as the others that followed it — eight years, $180 million for Mark Teixeira; seven years, $161 million for CC Sabathia, with two more years and $50 million more tacked on in 2011; seven years, $155 million for Masahiro Tanaka; seven years, $153 million for Jacoby Ellsbury; five years, $85 million for Brian McCann; and four years, $52 million each for Brett Gardner and Chase Headley — ensured that this day would come, the day the Yankees would find themselves continuing to pay bills for goods and services that they had long stopped receiving.

  3. I saw YES post Frazier in left, Rutherford in CF, and Judge in RF….as the future, I guess they think Harper will be money whipped to stay in DC…

Obviously they didn’t hear Francesa almost guarantee Harper stays in Washington, why because they already gave Starsburg $175M and Scherzer ova $200M and da owe-na has da money

Right there you know Harper is a goner, it was Mushnick who mentioned Francesa just about guaranteed Milla was goin no ware ok

I think Rizzo who is prospect porn-a-phobic might trade Harper before they just let him walk for nothing but a QO, look at the haul two relievers got, one a rental, imagine that grab

although the team that gets Harper will have to sign him so easier said then done, and right now he keeps playing like he did in July he couldn’t get a Captain Gardner contract

  5. You guys are both classics.
After this year the tally will be one second wild card game ( and that was an over and done quickly shutout to Houston) in the last four years.
Excuses aside, they still rank among the highest payroll teams in the game. Excuse me if I don’t jump on the Cashman/Girardi bandwagon. Last week Michael Kay said that Girardi was one of the best managers in the game and was actually underrated. I think I’ll believe that whopper after it is verified that Glaucoma John Sterling has superior x-ray vision to Clark Kent.

  6. Cashman already exposed himself as nothing much more then a director of spending with a few decent acquisitions that panned out
After his boss woke up and realized he had no farm system in 2013

He’s getting a 2nd chance with this reboot if these kids don’t pan out or can’t be used to get something that does
    He gone
Girardi should be gone based on he may have lost the room his team folded on him in Tampa

  7. Per the rumor moguls Boston in the lead for a Sale trade
I’m not buying it its click bait for Twitter followers

Unless Chicago is getting back Moncada Benintendi and Devers plus
Which would clean out their system anything less would need an investigation

    Sal

    August 1, 2016 at 11:33 am

  8. this trade deadline is hilarious, seems every team is wiping out their farm system to make a run, the Yanks are in reverse mode… By the end of the day we should have the #1 farm system and a last place team lol…..

the package for Sale will hurt Boston, they can do all the math they want about Sale giving them 4 yr’s of playoff runs, but once they chop up their depth and guys start to get hurt, they might be in trouble, especially if getting Sale doesn’t win them a ring

Dombrowski will be long gone by the time all these moves backfire on him… Boston taking a page out of old George days, the days he killed the Yanks not helped them

Francesa not that enamored with the Bruce deal hahahaha Mets just stole Jay Bruce and have enough to get Lucroy… Mets are rocking

  10. Remember Francesa was the dolt who said he wouldn’t trade 2 months of Chapman for Altuve 3 weeks ago… Until one of his butt boys informed him Altuve is having an MVP type season….. I think the Met Mutts goofed on him for 2 weeks

    • Hey Big D yeah just heard, sounds like a Cash special, get a guy who was highly rated, 1st round #4, but hasn’t panned out, he’s got a 5 + ERA at A Ball

Too bad Beltran is more valuable to a team looking for a DH then what we could get back for him, but at least A-Rod gets out of witness protection

this kid is getting smoked at Single A wow… Good chance he’s a TJ waiting

    http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=tex

Swanson and Green no ranking below 30, throw in’s

Rangers now get a Beltre Beltran combo, Yanks get a hope and two prayers.. Better then nothing chance Tate might be decent and the farm system keeps getting stocked

    now flip McCann and Gardner

    • Beltran trade opens a spot for Judge
My guess A-Rod and Hicks are on notice
Although Hicks my have more rope
Ref needs to put some hits together too
Or Judge comes up in September and Arod gets a month to get it going

There is also no room for Sanchez lotta pressure on Alex they need that spot in the line up

Rangers didn’t want to trade a slugger I have to check who they sent to Milwaukee for Lucroy
But Gallo and Profar are still there
Beltran can thank Prince Fielder his DL got Beltran to Texas and hopefully a good pitcher in Tate

Maybe they need a new manager to guide the new young players

Yankees manager Joe Girardi: “There is age on this team. I think there are needs on this team. Brian Cashman and his staff are trying to put this team in a good position to have a long run of not just playing well, but winning championships. I think this is what this organization is about. It is not about being a second wild card team and winning one game or losing one. We want championships. That is what we have always been a

  30. Cashman was busy on tv before and during the game, had some interesting news. Sanchez could be here Wednesday, catching and dhing. Not good news for Arod. He also said that we could see Judge(previously all year he said we would not be seeing him) and Tyler Austin. They made the moves so they could clear room for the youngsters to get some playing time. Times are changing, the Yanks are getting younger and plan on playing their youngsters for a change. Yanks made an incredible comeback to win the game, showed a lot of guts especially after all the deals. PsychoJoe left CC in too long, its usually 5 and fly and then compounded it by bringing in gidrools!! CC gave up a homer to Reynolds who had 2 homers in the minors in 289 at bats!! WTF!! Pathetic. Didi had a great at bat and drove in the tying runs. My pal Hicks was robbed by Granderson of an extra base hit-it probably was a homer at the stadium. The Yanks still have a potent bullpen with Severino,Clippard,Warren and Betances as the closer. Betances may channel David Robertson as a heart attack along with each save. The Mets have the worst batting average with risp(Yanks are next to last!!!) and Granderson is below .200 with risp. Arod almost had an at bat,but got called back for Gamel to bunt. I think there are going to be more changes coming to the roster once they are done at Citi and are back playing in the AL.
