Back To Our Regularly Schedule Programming

with 21 comments

We’ll be out of the office until next Friday August 26th, at least in terms of new Posts, but the door is open and the vent unit is still  24/7…

She Caught the Katie

I find this a very good twitter account, she does bang up job with numbers

Justus For All

Justus Sheffield the young Lefty that  came back in the Miller trade had his 2nd good outing at Single A, it doesn’t ease the pain of what  we’ll have to  watch  this year but, it might be all  we got…

Gidrool Central

It was just a matter of when, not if, Gidrool Central would  drive the “Little Train that Could” completely off the tracks, and last night Swarzak, Warren, Chicken Shreve, and Bake’d Parker were the conductors   driving that  train, high on cocaine…

Yankee pitching had held the high octane Toronto offense scoreless for 14 straight innings until Mother Nature decided OK, the good times are over for the Yanks, they had their little weekend in fantasy land with Judge, Sanchez, Austin,  and Green giving the Empire a possible glance at  what  the future could bring if CashMan  doesn’t fuck it up like he did in 2014…

Now it’s back to our regularly scheduled programming, One Step Forward, Two Steps Back…

Pineda was great for 5 innings, then a 45 minute rain delay ended his night.. PineTop threw  5 innings, 4 hits, no  runs, 2 K’s, had three 1-2-3 innings, thanks to  a 4-6-3 DP in the 5th, he  worked around a  single in the 2nd, and two  singles in the 4th, but kept the powerful Canadians off the board..

After the Rain

After the rain, Crying Joe not one to  risk injury, removed Pineda with the Yanks leading 6-0 in favor of Tony Swardzak who  completely imploded in the 6th inning for 4 runs

Swarzak relieved Pineda. 0 6
Travis doubled to deep left. 0 6
Donaldson reached on infield single to third, Travis scored, Donaldson to second on throwing error by third baseman Headley. 1 6
Encarnación struck out looking. 1 6
Saunders struck out swinging. 1 6
Tulowitzki homered to right (335 feet), Donaldson scored. 3 6
Martin homered to center (428 feet). 4 6
Layne relieved Swarzak. 4 6
Ceciliani lined out to center. 4 6

Penny Layne 0.1 of an inning closing out the 6th,  and Clippard  in the 7th did a nice job, but Adam Warren returned to his Chicago Cubs form in the 8th inning.. Chicken Shreve and  Blake Parker kept the fight at  the Toronto bat rack hot and heavy as neither  gidrool could stop  the bleeding until  8 runs had crossed the plate

Warren relieved Clippard. 4 6
Donaldson walked. 4 6
Encarnación homered to left (411 feet), Donaldson scored. 6 6
Saunders popped out to second. 6 6
Tulowitzki singled to left. 6 6
Martin homered to right (351 feet), Tulowitzki scored. 8 6
Shreve relieved Warren. 8 6
Ceciliani hit by pitch. 8 6
Upton Jr. walked, Ceciliani to second. 8 6
Carrera singled to center, Ceciliani to third, Upton Jr. to second. 8 6
Travis singled to left, Ceciliani scored, Upton Jr. to third, Carrera to second. 9 6
Donaldson walked, Upton Jr. scored, Carrera to third, Travis to second. 10 6
Parker relieved Shreve. 10 6
Encarnación grounded into fielder’s choice to second, Carrera scored, Donaldson out at second, Travis to third. 11 6
Saunders doubled to deep right, Travis scored, Encarnación to third. 12 6
Tulowitzki popped out to third. 12 6

The 3 bright spots for the Yanks, Pineda may have gone 6 scoreless, that may  have helped bridge to Clippard, because Swarzak woke up  a sleeping dog for sure… Swarzak should be checking into  a new area  code address today, but CashMan has nothing in the system to replace him, which  has been  an Achilles Heels for the Yanks all  season

CashMan needs to  reconfigure his middle relief corps, because what  he’s been bringing up  for the last  2 years isn’t working

Gary Sanchez had another monster night 3 for 4 with 2 HR’s, 4 RBI’s and 2 runs scored

D-Gregorius went 2 for 4 with a HR, 2 RBI’s and 1 run scored.

Da Judge went 0-4 with 2 punch outs…

The Yanks pounded the usually tough Marco Estrada for 5 runs and 5 hits.. Feldman did a good job 3 innings 3 hits 1 run stopping the Yankee freight train and allowing his offense to  wake up.

Ellsbury Must Go

The Yanks will  eat  $27M of A-Rod’s money, so it hard to  imagine the DoughBoy going anywhere in 2017, but like McCann he needs to be gone this Winter.. Dumping both players will  cost a lot of dough, but if the Yanks want to get the re-boot up  and running removing Ellsbury, moving Gardner and his 2 yr’s @ $26M to CF, inserting either Frazier or Hicks in LF and Judge in RF, on paper looks like the way  to go..

McCann  can  still be an expensive bench player if Atlanta doesn’t want to  cough up  a decent prospect, or the Yanks don’t want to  eat about $14M of his $34M remaining, he can  also DH / Catch, but my guess he wants out if that’s his job description..

I can also  see Gardner gone, Ellsbury sticking until Rutherford is ready in 2019, then NY eating the last $%28M of the doughBoy contract

the Whole 9

  1. Sal, the beating our Gidrools took last night pales in comparison to what you have in store for you this week, ya poor bastid.:(

  2. If Hal is serious he better get used
to eatting a lot of money over the winter

No way you can validate Sabathia as a competent MLB pitcher any longer

Unfortunately CC is in Arod territory where he’s finished

Mcant doughboy captain and headless aren’t finished they’re just past their prime

CC might have to take precedent and be fired next

    August 17, 2016 at 2:34 pm

    • I see Cryin Joe said CC should only have had 4 earned runs not 7

I also see where Melvin Upton finally got his 1st Tater

The accountants will look at the 12 K’s and think the 7 runs were the outlier

  3. Last weekend we saw Psycho Cryin Joe show his lack of stability by violating there’s “no crying in baseball”
rule. Now, in today’s NY Post, there is an article about owner Hal-arious Steinbrenner admitting that he got “emotional” when he watched Austin and Judge go back to back last Sunday.
Time for the adults to take the toys away from these kids, take control of things, and guide this team in a mature, responsible way.

    • Hey noogsie just read the Halarious article
He should just really say nothing

The worst part of that article he gave support to both Cryin Lyin Psycho Joe, and the CashClown

Both have contracts up after 2017 we may be stuck

  4. Mike Axisa
Mike Axisa – Verified account ‏@mikeaxisa

I need a new video game (PS4). Nothing crazy intense, just something to unwind with once in a while. Recs?

Yeah Mikey I recommend you find a girl friend or boy friend to unwind

    Downtown San Diego #funkystreetshit
The weather on the other hand, amazing, no humidity felt like low 80’s

Not exactly Mike Francesa accommodations but a tick up from the Eddie Kirkland 3 to a room blues dues

Nice place for Ellsbury or Gardner any chance Headley wants back on the West coast

    August 18, 2016 at 10:35 am

  5. Mikey stats—LOL, Sal. Our go to man for numbers and absolutely nothing else on this planet.
It is scary to think of the many ways he chooses to unwind if his mother punishes him and takes away his video games altogether.

  8. Mushnick delivers in today’s post on a number of topics, but the best is the Yankees greed on ticket prices and lies about attendance.

  9. It was Ronald Torreyes Night in Anaheim!! He had been permanently imprinted on a milk carton,on Arods last game CryinJoe brought him out of mothballs, tonight had the game of his life, including his first major league homer,double,4 hits!!! Ellsbury led off the game with a homer!!!,he had 3 hits as did Sanchez. Sanchez had 2 doubles and was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple. Yanks hit 3 homers off Weaver in 1 inning=Torreyes,Didi,McCann=and knocked him out. Tanaka was pretty much unhitable except for Mike Trout who had 2 hits but k’d with the bases loaded off Warren in the 8th. Yanks got the road trip off to a great start.

  14. Hey men
Our Uncle Sal is playing ball with Choo Choo Coleman and the like, this week.
    Please light candles for him.
Massive beatings will ensue, poor bastid.
The Meet & Greets will be effin brutal.

    August 22, 2016 at 9:21 am

  15. Well–good luck to Sal. He is a survivor, though, and all will be fine.
RIP ChooChoo Casey had the best line ever about him.
When asked if Choo Choo was a fast runner, Casey said, yes—he never saw anyone run as fast after passed balls. LOL

    August 22, 2016 at 9:27 am

  16. The Ol’ Perfesser is sorely needed back these days.
