Beltway Bombers Spank Yanks

What  a difference a week makes

“Anytime you can’t get through five or six innings it’s not a quality start and I didn’t give my team a very good chance to win today,” he said. “That’s my fault and I got to get better next time.”

That  was a quote from Dylan Al Bundy after the Yanks shellacked the O’s last  Saturday 13-5.. Bundy only lasted 4 innings, 7 hits, 5 runs, 3 BB’s, in that game.. Last night he and 3 pen pals extended  the Baltimore pitchers shut out streak over the Yanks to  18 innings with a tough to  watch 8-0 loss

Bundy, 5.2 innings, 2 hits, No runs, 4 BB’s, 5 K’s,  had runners on base in 4 of the 6 innings he pitched, but only allowed a RISP once…

The bad voodoo started after Gardner led off the game with  a single back  up  the middle.. You thought, OK here we go, day off, a week ago  we pounced on this Bundy dude, and Captain Gardner was setting the tone!!!!

Before Ellsbury could take a call strike 3, Captain Gardner was picked off first base by TJ Wieters, and yes the tone for this game was set, but for the worst…

Bundy tossed a 1-2-3 second inning

With 2 outs in the 3rd,  Gardner walked and Ellsbury singled, but Sanchez was punched out to  end any potential threat.. That  was the first and  last RISP for the Yanks all night….

The Bombers could only muster a base on balls to Headless  over the 4th  and 5th innings, and a 2 out walk  to Humpty Teixeira in the 6th, that   ended Bundy’s night…

Three Oriole relievers shut the Yanks completely down for the last 10 outs, but for all intents and purposes this game was over after Nick Goody coughed up back to back Taters to Davis and Trumbo in the 2nd inning..

The back to back Jacks, followed Green allowing a double, an RBI single, a 2 run HR to Alvarez, and a walk that  ended his night with an injury..

By the time Goody strolled  off the mound it was 6-0 Orioles, and nothing but Gidrool Central to protect the next  3 or 4 innings….

With King Gidrool Tony Swarzak on the DL, Vice King Gidrool Kirby Yates, took over for Secretary of No Defense Gidrool Nick Goody.. A quick  walk and a rocket bomb off the bat  of Machado,  the O’s 4th Tater of the night, made it 8-0 in the 4th inning.

At that point the O’s called off the dogs, the Bombers crawled into  a fetal position on offense, and Bob’s Your Uncle

Good Bad and Ugly

The Good

Maybe only good thing this game produced was hyped up  pitching prospect Jonathan Holder punching out Adam Jones in his first  ever varsity appearance.. The Bomber Defense ( D-Gregorius, Castro) saved Holder a few infield knocks on the next 2 batters but the line reads a clean 1-2-3, so  good for The Holder!

( to  say Holder was destined for this bridge relief job with a name like Holder, is an understatement)

Bryan Mitchell 5.1 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 6 K’s in his SWB outing last night is good

Chris Parmelee hit a walk-off solo homer, as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders defeated the Buffalo Bisons 2-1 on Friday, is good too

Remember when Chris Egg Plant Parmelee was starting to  rake at  1st base, then immediately got hurt?  Well he’s back…..

The Bad

Getting only Two Hits on the night off Dylan Al Bundy after solving him 6 days earlier was a head scratcher

The Ugly

Of course losing Chad Too Green is bummer #1… This vision we had of Mitchell, Severino, Shreve, bridging to Betances just  took a severe hit….

With Mitchell finally stringing together 5.1 decent innings, he’s stretched out to 91 pitches, he may take Green’s spot next week, leaving Severino in the bull pen..

After all Severino had multiple chances to make it as a starter  this yr, it’s Mitchell’s turn providing the toe is good to  go

Bummer #2 …..Aaron K Judge added to his  Legend with  2 more punch outs last night.. Aaron K Judge has 63 PA’s, 28 punch outs, 44.4% K-Rate

He has 10 hits in 53 AB’s, 5 singles 2 doubles and 3 HR’s…

Hopefully Psycho Joe keeps running him out there, but he has Refsynder, Austin and God forbid Eric Young Jr available just in case they want to  save him the embarrassment of going North of 50% K-Rate

Does it really matter what  the WC Race looks like?

Actually the Yanks could get this down to 1.5 behind Baltimore if they win the next 2, but Detroit is tied with the O’s, and Houston is 2 games behind Detroit and Baltimore, so  with 3 teams to jump over, the Bombers can’t afford too many night’s like Bad Friday
