Wild Card Elimination Number, 2

The media has an obligation to drag this 2016 Bomber’s Funeral on until the math no longer adds up, so even  with  another Bomber loss today in Canada, opening lines across the NY baseball publications will continue to  read “ with the Yankees playoff hopes becoming razor thin, another loss would…….”

At the moment the Yanks have a window of 2 games before their 2016 season is flatlined, and with the Orioles off today the  best, or worst thing that  can happen is we start  the Boston Series with only 1 game before total extinction

Great,  so now Boston  can not only deliver the blow that sent the Bombers on their path  to doom when Ramirez exposed Betances as cooked on September 15th, they  can  end their season for real in one of the 3 games coming up  this week starting Tuesday…

The Yanks at least stayed out of the record books when  they  finally scored a run on a D-Gregorius Tater

Didi Gregorius belted a solo home run leading off the seventh inning to tie Sunday’s game at 1-1, they hadn’t even managed to score a run in 33 innings, going back to Wednesday in St. Petersburg, Florida, when it was still officially summer.

After tying the game on Gregorius’ home run, the Yankees fell behind 2-1 in the eighth, when a clearly gassed Dellin Betances allowed a run on a leadoff walk, a stolen base — his particular bugaboo — and an RBI single by Jose Bautista.

They  even managed to  hang a crooked number up  to  take a 3-2 lead

But New York came back to regain the lead in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Mason Williams and a sacrifice fly by Ronald Torreyes, the No. 8 and 9 hitters in the lineup.

Then Betances and Clippard blew yet another game, and the final straw that has  held up    this 2016 Bomber’s team all season long, the bull pen, is now officially Broke and needs fixing…

Opponents have now stolen 20 bases in 20 tries against Betances

surrendering nine earned runs and walking six over his last seven appearances, totaling six innings, he owns a 3.00 ERA for the season. With Sunday marking his 71st appearance of the season, with 72 innings on his odometer, you wonder just how much fatigue factors into his downturn.

Of course this opens up  the speculation that Betances maybe  isn’t the closer of the future in NY… I think  the problem isn’t Betances, it’s the fact CashMan never had more then  3 reliable relievers come out of his pen all year, and over the last 6 weeks he only had 1..

Clippard ended up lending  some support, but we can  see why Epstein just about drove Adam Warren to NY in an effort to get him out of the Cubs system, he’s regressed from his 2015 success

CashMan has his work  cut out for him over the winter, as the real  re-build will start in April

  2. Hey guys…I didn’t come on here to gloat…well, hell, maybe 11 wins in a row down the stretch isn’t a bad reason… Home Grown Murderer’s Row at Fenway….
But the main reason I’m writing is to hear you guys finally admit that Ortiz does not owe his success to PED’s…There’s no way he could be taking any of that crap this year and I know you’re aware of his completely insane numbers – 37HR, 124RBI 48 doubles! Definitely going out on top….

    • Hey BK good to read from you, yes congrats on your recent success..The Red Sox look like the chalk in the AL, I think Texas is pretty good too…

As far as Grand Papi, why would we think he’s still finding a way to beat the system?

Just because A-Rod never failed a test doesn’t mean Grand Papi has the same road map to success, or that Manfred is making sure Ortiz stays squeaky clean, because it’s good for business, so he’s exempt from testing

We’ll be honoring Ortiz next weekend, we actually might honor him all week..

Stop by more often, we need a good Boston correspondent during the playoffs… my buddy Fenway Frank from another site is also gonna jump on board..

Anyway our first gift for Grand Papi is a framed photograph that reflects our sentiments toward his Boston career.. enjoy good to see you

  4. HAHA…OK Sal, I deserve it…apologies for the asshole post earlier…I don’t believe, however, that Ortiz is “exempt” from testing. Anyway, I always read this blog, I just don’t post very much and will be glad to comment during the playoffs! Actually, I’ll be in Europe from 10/3-10/12 so I’ll need Paint The Black to stay up on what’s really happening out there!

    • hahaha, BK we loved your post, just having some fun… is all… Hey safe travels, good luck over there, and yes drop in anytime, we’ll keep the Red Sox on our radar…. 2017 I’m a free agent..!

  6. Severino has 50 pitches he might not get out of the 2nd inning.. He can’t command 3-2 sliders, and he’s just not the same pitcher when he starts a game, now he looks like he’s thinking too much

Encarnacion scared the shit out of him with that base hit, and he got real tentative again, no rhythm….

  7. Sit down Bautista before CC punches your lights out.. Hey go talk to Happ he started it

Donaldson is a good player but he’s a punk…..Everybody stay in the dugout in case this thing breaks open

    September 26, 2016 at 9:05 pm

  10. This is insane what’s happened to Betances, 2 walks and a muffed bunt play, gotta yank him the kid is cooked and needs to be shut down….

Needed to yank him sooner, but I understand Harkey trying one last desperate visit to the mound.. A shame what’s happened to this guy…

  11. Penny Layne comes in and guts out a tremendous win, bases were loaded the whole inning, incredible…Most satisfying win of the season based on how chippy Canada was.. Looking forward to some team, any team taking them out in the playoffs or WC..
