Yanks Pluck Buck’s Feathers

with 11 comments

Well  fellas we got one more Yankees game…

Yesterday  was a real  treat watching the Bombers JV kick sand on Bucks beach  towel, and all he could do  was stand there and take it with a sour puss look on his face ….

Poor Buck, if he’s gonna count on Wade Miley in the playoffs he’s in for a rude awakening.. This guy has had 1 and a half  good outings vs the D-Backs and the 4 innings vs the Yanks.

Even  when Miley pitched in Boston, and  was obviously starting to  throw BP at MLB hitters, he’d scowl at Monsignor Farrell when  the Boston skipper came out to  get him..

Maybe that’s why Buck tried to  squeeze 7 innings out of him and all  that move  accomplished was waking up  our sleeping dog..

Tyler Clutch Austin greeted Miley with his 5th timely HR of the season in the 7th  to knot the game at  3-3

Buck  first got cute in the 8th going match-up Hart vs McCann, then he showed us how smart he is  and brought in Brach, one of his late inning earners with 1 out…

Not even Billy Martin could save Bucky now

Hart relieved Givens. 3 3
McCann popped out to second. 3 3
Brach relieved Hart. 3 3
Ellsbury hit for Refsnyder. 3 3
Ellsbury walked. 3 3
Headley doubled to right, Ellsbury to third. 3 3
Romine singled to left center, Ellsbury and Headley scored. 3 5
Austin struck out looking. 3 5
Torreyes walked, Romine to second. 3 5
Drake relieved Brach. 3 5
Gardner doubled to left, Romine and Torreyes scored, Gardner to third advancing on throw. 3 7
Hicks grounded out to second. 3 7
4 RUNS, 3 HITS, 0 ERRORS

I was upset when Psycho Joe went to Ellsbury for Ref, but the DoughBoy came through with  a base on balls that set the tone of the inning..

Headless who is short on game, but long on guts, smacked a clutch double to  right, my only complaint was DoughBoy not scoring from  1st, which  was on Espada

The Romine Empire looped a classic knock that despite Joe Espada, plated 2 runs to give the Yanks a 5-3 lead

Captain Gardner emptied the bases with an extra base double across traffic and the Bombers handed Betances a 7-3 lead

Betances after some rest was back to his old tricks…

He muffed an infield play, but with a 4 run cushion the the lead off batter getting on base and stealing 2nd was a non issue

He seemed to find his command, and commenced to  dominating the next 3 batters, punching out the side with some very nasty pitches

That in it self was a Win, forcing Buck to play hard today was priceless

Severino  was once again underwhelming as a starter.. He did get screwed by Austin misplacing an F/ 9 into a double in the 2nd inning..

A walk  and a single by Bourn plated 2 runs to give the O’s a 2-0 lead and a bunch of swagger..

Machado smacked a 2 out  Bomb off Severino in the 3rd to make it 3-0… Severino  was visibly shaken and gave up  2 more hits before settling down to end the inning.

With  2 outs in the 4th his pitch  count expired and he left with a 3-0 deficit

A tip of the cap  to Gidrool Central

Holder, Bleier, Yates, 3.1 innings, 3 hits, no runs, a huge factor in this win

Clippard and Betances nailed it shut

Let’s hope the Yanks send Mark Teixeira out on a high today by ruining  Buck’s damp and dingy Sunday….

A little payback  for the Big Juicy diss is in order

  3. some research

Tyler Austin has hit 5 HR’s, every one of them significant, no Garbage Time Taters from Clutch Austin

HR #1: his first MLB AB on August 13th vs TB

#2 : two-run homer in the seventh off AL ERA leader Aaron Sanchez put the Yankees ahead 3-2.

#3 : a solo homer in the ninth to give New York its season-high fifth straight victory, 5-4 over the Tampa Bay..

#4 : broke a 4-all tie in the seventh with a two-run homer off Price.

#5: tied the score in the seventh when he drove Wade Miley’s slider into the Yankees bullpen in right center.

Austin Romine now hitting .364 (16-44) with runners in scoring position this season.

Tyler Austin: 4th game-tying or go-ahead HR in 7th inning or later. That’s the most on the Yankees this season.

  6. I read with amusement that Psycho Joe is putting players on notice for 2017.
The balls on this guy, I’m telling you.
He’s the fucker who should get the notice and it should say, ” Hey Psycho, if you are here next year, don’t buy any groceries which you and your family need for more than 4 days, at most.”

  7. I can’t believe today is the last game if the regular season. It all went so fast…..where did it go? It only seems like yesterday that Arod was whiffing up a storm in truncated AB’s doled out by Psycho Joe, in an attempt to get him outta here just like he did to Posada.
    Ahhh….the good times.
I hate the end of the regular season if we’re not in the Post Season. The finality of it all. It means winter is coming.
And I HATE the winter……& football & basketball, & Hockey.
It means having to suffer thru the playoffs & WS without the Yanks participating.
All that, to finally get to the point of all the wheeling & dealing of the off season to make the Yanks move in the right direction.
    9-17 seems like yesterday, lol
But it was gone in an eye blink
I hope Tex goes out with one more tater
And I sincerely hope we can somehow trade off the Doughboy, Captain Gardy, Bubba, & Headless. We’re never going to win with that foursome, & it would put us full force into the next generation.

  8. Hey fellas, yes noogsie P-Joe handing out notices caught my attention too.. His $3M doesn’t go against the salary cap, addition by subtraction Hal…

Bondsie don’t let the men in tights get you dow, we’re gonna have a fun off season… CashMan has a lot of work to do, and Hal needs to fess up what he’s doing with the payroll….

Should be a fun Met game, and Canada vs Buck is a one hand clap game

  9. from the Post

It now has been nearly four years since they won a postseason game, with just a wild-card loss to the Astros last season to put on their postseason résumé since being swept in the 2012 ALCS by the Tigers.

Before Girardi managed the last game of the Yankees’ season with just one year remaining on his contract, he was asked about his job security heading into 2017.

“I never worry about it,” Girardi said. “I don’t worry about it.”

Another season like this one might change that.

    • Lets hope so!! Joe Torre made the playoffs every season and still got canned! The bar of success for the Yankees has become a limbo bar.
