This is Awards Week in MLB

Yesterday a former Met prospect who was traded to  the Tigers in the Yoenis Cespedes deal won the Rookie of the Year Award in the AL with 26 1st place votes..

Michael Fullmer  won easily over Gary Sanchez who did get 4 first place votes

Here’s the link from the BBBWAA, it shows who  voted for who..

Each of the 30  teams had two  writers submit their ballot, only one writer Stefan Stevenson Fort Worth Star-Telegram, TEX, left Sanchez off his ballot

Stevenson voted Fullmer, Naquin, Mazara….

Congrats to Sanchez who in 2 months stormed to  the top of the list, but Fullmer really deserved the honor by pitching from April 29th to  the season’s conclusion..

He started 26 games, pitched 159 innings, and compiled a 3.06 ERA

The MLB Awards continue all  week

International Dilemma

We won’t be seeing Shohei Otani anytime soon, at least not this winter.. International rules will prohibit him from becoming an MLB player this season.. That works the Yankees are still being penalized for their 2014-15 international spending spree, they would only be able to offer Otani a $300,000 bonus, that ain’t getting it done….The Red Sox, Dodgers, and Angels are in the same boat.

Because Otani is only 22, the team signing him would be subject to international bonus pool restrictions. And there’s zero reason that Otani would subject himself to those rules when he would be free and clear of them next offseason.

The only exceptions to the international signing rules are for players who are 23 or older and have played five or more seasons in a recognized professional league. Otani will have met both requirements after the 2017 season. Right now, he’s met neither.

The Scorpions were mugged yesterday 9-1…

Gleyber Torres went 1 for 3 with a BB… DH

Miggy Andujar 0-4 with 2 K’s.. he played 3rd base

None of the Bomber kid pitchers were in on the butt kicking…

I did read that a Tebow error cost Kaprelian the third out in his 1st inning a few days ago.. Kap still coughed up a HR to the next batter so there is that… He cleaned up the next 4 innings so a good sign there…
