1 personal one: I am glad McCann played in NYC he was an insightful, available pro and I learned a lot chatting with him. #Yankees #Astros

As much  as we wanted McCann out of here, I do  wish him luck moving forward,  It’s not Bubba’s fault they paid him $85M.. My wish is that  any one of us get offerered $30M more then  we’re worth, and we take it..

I don’t think McCann  was abused in NY, maybe by small ninja groups like us, but the media didn’t mess with  him and Sherman explains why…

It’s usually customary for CashMan  to  bring in a veteran catcher, I’m wondering if he’s considering Romine and  Kyle Higashioka  as his only depth?

Good chance we get an old war horse in Pinstripes for cheap, man look what happened in Boston with Sandy Leon.. That  would mean Romine is a goner, of if Cashman can  stash an older vet (Alex Avila or Giovanny Soto types) at Triple A, as injury depth, Romine’s days in Pinstripes could continue

The Core 40

The Yankees added six players to their Major League roster — pitchers Dietrich Enns, Giovanny Gallegos, Ronald Herrera and Yefrey Ramirez, third baseman Miguel Andujar and Jorge Mateo.

They opened roster spots, 7 of them, the two most notable subtractions were trading McCann, and  Nathan Eovaldi predictably being  designated for assignment.. Evo  would have cost NY his arbitration money, around $8M, and he’s out the whole 2017  season with TJ, so  that  was a no brainer

First baseman/outfielder Dustin Ackley, who spent part of the last two seasons with the Yankees, was unconditionally released.

The others now off the roster are right-handed reliever Branden Pinder (outrighted to Triple-A), left-hander Joe Mantiply (DFA), right-hander Nick Rumbelow (DFA) and left-hander James Pazos (traded to Seattle for A-ball righty Zack Littell).

Among the notable players the Yankees are leaving exposed to the Rule 5 Draft are OF Jake Cave, RHP Cale Coshow, RHP Brady Lail, OF Tito Polo, LHP Stephen Tarpley, C Luis Torrens, and LHP Tyler Webb. RHP Domingo Acevedo is not Rule 5 Draft eligible this offseason.

Mikey 2 Chins has an in-depth report on the whole thing, one of Mikey’s strength’s is compiling this stuff from RAB’s vast data base of stats thanks to Kool Aid Katie Sharp

Something to consider, at the Moment DD-Gregorius is NY’s biggest LHB Threat…Not very Bronx Bomber like.. Beltran might get  close to  $18M for 1 yr or possibly $34M for 2 years if he chooses NY

If Beltran  wants to  win a Ring, coming back to  the Yanks is the wrong decision…

If he wants to add a few million more dollars to his bank  account, and live in the familiar confines of NYC, then I can  see him taking the Steinbrenner money

  2. Scouting report on Moncada… I was pissed when Hal bid just enough to lose, but still look competitive to the fans, and the media Super PACs…..

Then we saw him jump in competition ( AAA, MLB) and so far that $63M spent on him looks like a shaky investment.. These Cuban payers appear like Central casting, but what’s missing once they hit MLB?

    Were they all PED users?

Anyway at one point in time Moncada was off limits, but are they seeing enough warts to sell high with a slew of other prospects for another starting pitcher, like Sale ?

Moncada is still a top elite prospect, but he took a minor hit with his failed September call up, especially with Benintendi making the jump from Double A, and looking like a veteran at 21 yr’s old….
