MLB / Sports On Earth

‘has an article on Gary Sanchez, and the Rockies Trevor Story, two  young men who  took MLB by storm in 2016..

Until Elon Musk perfects the Chrystal Ball, when it come to predicting young players futures, all we have as purchases are analytic projections, and past history of other players RE: the dreaded Sophomore Jinx

“The consequence of serendipity can  lead to  a brilliant discovery” and both Sanchez and Story check that  box in bold font.

The next obvious question to ponder, based on the small  ample size, was it a Fluke?

Story set a National League rookie record with 10 April homers, including seven in his first six career games. He also set an NL record for most homers by a rookie shortstop (27) before injuring his left thumb in July and missing the remainder of the season. Overall, he hit .272/.341/.567 with 72 RBIs in 97 games.

In August, the Yankees called up Sanchez, and the 23-year-old put on one of the greatest opening acts in big league history. He belted 11 home runs in a 15-game span en route to posting a .299/.376/.657 slash line with 20 home runs and 42 RBIs in 53 games. He finished second to the Tigers’ Michael Fulmer in American League Rookie of the Year voting.

At the moment the Bombers are smack dab in the middle of a re-build, despite the delusions of puffery re: a playoff run.. Thanks to Sanchez’s blistering 2 month  offensive assault, the Yanks now have a potential   Home Grown  core piece in place

A dream of creating the House that Sanchez Built, with the SanBino leading a ballyhoo’d crème de la crème of young prospects, all working for minimum wage, allowing the narcissistic accountants to  drop  their payroll comfortably below the new Tax Penalty ceiling, will no  doubt tickle Hal  where he itches worst

Ah, but first Sanchez needs to  prove  he’s  Willie McCovey and not Kevin Maas

We can only hope, like McCovey before him, Sanchez’s future exploits inspire the elite to name  a body of water after him

Texas Rangers v San Francisco Giants, Game 1

“Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity”

Take it from  an old Roman philosopher, and no it wasn’t  Tony Soprano, if Sanchez keeps grinding out a tremendous preparation  ethic, the hard work,  talent and a chance to  prove it on the biggest  stage, the Sanchize could morph serendipity into #RoadTo28

Let’s keep in mind Rome wasn’t built in a day so the journey to our next Oasis will  require patience, which  sometimes requires a  drink or eat the gun M.O.

Remember it took the Cubs 6 yr’s, the Red Sox 3 last place finishes sandwiched around a 2013  duck boat ride…

The Astros broke it down to point zero, it took  them 6 sub .500 losing seasons ( 3 of them  sub .400), before they  reached the 2015 86 win  / 2016 84 win season’s

And the Royals seemingly have rebuilt forever after their 1985 Championship .. In the 27  season’s leading up  to  their resurgence in 2013, they finished below .500 20  times..Once their home grown  core was in place they enjoyed 3 years of prosperity, before starting to  trend toward a rebuild in 2017 / 18

  2. In my heart of hearts, I believe the Sanbino is going to be the Real Deal. Great work ethic (the light finally went on this year), short compact powerful swing, & a gun I haven’t seen since the days of Pudge Rodiguez in his prime.

On a personal note, I’ll be out of the marketplace for a week. Heading to Jamaica for the Little Feat Fan Excursion .
But, starting my vacation tonight appropriately, with a ménage a trois to start the festivities off with a couple of Latina Lovelies from down Baltimore way!
