Spring Has Sprung, Sort Of

Ken Davidoff on WFAN with Chris Moore

Thanks Big D for the tip..!

disclaimer

It’s a 30 minute podcast, so you can’t edit the interview, you’ll have to  sit through  the commercials

Welcome to Spring Training

The Yanks opened tomorrow on Valentines Day, how appropriate that one of our love affairs kicks off it’s season, almost brings tears to my eyes, almost….

That  said, despite moscone being surrounded by a bevy of beauties on Saturday night he reminded me Wednesday  was the hit, not Tuesday, you gidrool.. so  thank you my friend

MLB.com highlights each team.. For the Yanks it’s Sanchez.. If you scroll down the page to find the  Yanks, there is also a video of Sanchez taking BP in Fla..

Names To Watch

David Schoenfield, ESPN Senior Writer has a list of Names to watch: Baseball’s most interesting non-roster invitees

For the Yanks it’s

New York Yankees: P James Kaprielian, P Chance Adams, SS Gleyber Torres, IF Ruben Tejada, OF Clint Frazier, 1B Ji-Man Choi.

If Chance Adams has a great training camp, he would be the closest to cracking the 40 man and the varsity’s 25 man roster as the team’s 5th  starter.. the fact he pitched well at AAA, makes him as much a contender as say Chad Green..

This Is IT in a NutShell

For the Yanks, The NY  Post trims the fat with a Steve Serby interview of Brian Cashman.. It’s pretty much  what  we’ve heard him say  all  along, but now it’s in writing..

Cashman has mentioned this before, but Chance Adams isn’t a household name like Gleyber Torres, Clint Frazier, James Kapielian, or Jorge Mateo so the radio host’s just  gloss over it.. Cashman puts it in writing

Q: Who might be a sleeper starter?
A: There’s a kid, Chance Adams, that was really dominant in A-ball and Double-A last year, and he may very well be our best pitching prospect, if he can continue with the stuff he had in Double-A into Triple-A, he’s someone that could be knocking on the door. James Kaprielian was a No. 1 pick in 2015 for us and missed all of 2016 [because of an elbow problem]. He’s someone I know is interested in pushing himself into the mix as well, so he is certainly.

  1. Gratified & amazed, all at the same time, that Baseball’s new campaign is actually here.
Don’t get me wrong, but jeez!! It was just Christmas!!! At this stage of my life, everything is moving faster, just like that great show I saw this past Saturday. Went by WAY too quickly!!

I don’t know about you guys, but I am SO looking forward to seeing done of these kids! All the guys Sal mentioned could be a big part of the next core. Hey, not all of them will pan out, they never do. But this is the best crop we’ve had in over 20 yrs!!!!

For me, I wanna see, Torres, Frazier, Adams, Kaprelian, Mitchell, Bird, Rutherford, Judge (no more big leg kick), Austin, Sevy, & yeah, that kid Sanchez.
It’s going to be great to watch.
