The Yanks had an off day, literally and figuratively…

Bad news trickled down the pike that  James Kaprielian will been shut down..Cashman was quoted as “concerned” and why wouldn’t he be, Kap’s the best pitching prospect in the system and this is the second year in a row he’s had issues with his arm

From Shane Hennigan / RailRiders beat  reporter

James Kaprielian has been placed on the DL with right elbow pain. Set to undergo an MRI and dye contrast MRI.

Kaprielian looked great in start I saw in Tampa. Said he felt great too. Not to mention, he’s a good kid. Here’s hoping it’s nothing serious

After watching CoCo Puff  Sabathia not exactly steam and roll through  5 innings, the two bookend nitwits Tanaka and Pineda combine for only 6.1 innings, and Severino in his first season as a “pitcher not a thrower”, Kaprielian the UCLA product already had dibs on an office with a view in the Bronx, he was pretty much Plan B… Now, not so  much..

Plan A

Last night Jordan Montgomery and Chad Too Green pitched for the A-Ball Tampa Yankees..On paper this was supposed to be a pitch off for the next  available start, the infamous April 16th..

Based on the reports, Montgomery and Green were en-route to  a photo finish, when Green coughed up a 9th inning HR that sunk the TY.. Other then  that, how was the play Mrs Lincoln…

pitching line

Here’s the Game Log

Pitches and Strikes

Montgomery, J 48-39; Green, C 45-33.

Montgomery with 48 pitches in 5 innings is what Girardi  will  like to  see, with a disclaimer on the competition level…

Pinstriped Prospects had the night covered

too green

For the TY, Tito Polo who we saw play  for Colombia in the WBC went 3 for 4.. Jorge Mateo  batting lead off  went hitless.. Polo made a few sensational  catches in centerfield in a WBC  game vs Team USA, he’ll creep into our watch list..

the Whole 9

This and That

Yesterday  there was a Fake News report  stating the Yanks wouldn’t pursue Tanaka if he opted out.. Brillo Levine and Cashman  denied it, and have stated they have no idea where it came from

That’s two  days in a row Fake News has hit the Bomber PR..

On Wednesday Suzyn  Waldman apparently washed her Adderall down with a bloody Mary before hitting the airwaves with the Two Mets Muts on WFAN… Ma Pinstripe said Clint Frazier wanted to  wear #7….She also  railed on Frazier for not coming to  camp with his hair cut…She did make one good point, Frazier has really bulked up, and it’s apparently slowed down his infamous “Bat Speed”

Severino  will open the Orioles series, we’ll  see if he can navigate through 6 innings, the over under on that bet is : the Under

One interesting take from Larry  the Stable Guy was him talking about tempo, for both Pineda and Severino..

“I thought he did some things that should help him delivery-wise, and just with his tempo and his pace,” said Rothschild, the team’s pitching coach. “Kind of a pre-pitch routine that should help him.”

Rothschild said Pineda has a tendency to  want to  finish  the inning too  quickly, that it’s a tempo  problem, not a focus issue

I’m no Shrink  but, if you can’t control your emotions in an  effort to  slow the game down, and don’t pay attention  to  every pitch, that’s a focus problem??

“I need to have better focus when I’m pitching,’’ Michael Pineda said. “I need to finish after I get two outs. When I get two outs or two strikes, I need to finish.’’

    • Severino had great tempo in the 3rd
He busted Jones Machado and rolled Davis over
Sanchez and Severino had a roll going
      Finally a dominant inning

      Manny Machado vs Luis Severino:
      4 hits
      3 HR
      11 AB

And I thought Severino owned Machado in that 1st AB

  12. I fell asleep as soon as I got home from work. Got up to see the Sanbino hit one. It’s been downhill since then.
That was some meatball Clippy threw Smith. Can’t believe they’re about to give this game away.
Maybe I should try sleeping again & then wake up?…..
