Go Left Young Man

Well  the Yanks are back  farting through polyester after salvaging the last game in Tampa with  a grind-em out 3-2 win.. If this game were a prize fight, the Yanks would have taken a split decision,  I’ve seen Mickey / Ward Arturo Gatti battles that were easier then this.

The Mikey 2 Chins Game  Report

The Yanks were up  against Chris Archer who is tough on RHB, Formula Joe our certified  left / right line-up wizard, disregarded the odds, went rogue on the establishment,  and managed with  his guts, and feel…. Our game report  guy The King of Queens M2C, wasn’t enthralled

Joe Girardi goes to such great lengths to split up the lefties in the lineup, yet he’ll bat four righties in a row against Chris Archer, who has a disgusting slider and has held right-handed batters to a .229/.296/.362 (.290 wOBA) batting line with a 27.5% strikeout rate since the start of 2015. Shrugs.

Again, this was Joe’s fuck  you line up, or the pain meds from the knee operation clouded his better judgement.. Blind Boy “Tommy”  Thomson was just  happy he didn’t have to  do  anything but agree with Joe, and Curly Perez is still  trying to  figure out how his DR team didn’t snag the WBC trophy so  they  were no  help… Forget Espada, Cockrell, or Thames..

Three-pitch strikeout (Matt Holliday)
Seven-pitch strikeout (Starlin Castro)
Five-pitch strikeout (Aaron Judge)
Those three batters swung at eleven of the 15 pitches they saw and missed seven times.  Shrugs.

Over all on the day Sanchez, Holliday, Castro, and Judge  went a combined 0-16 with 12 punch-outs.

Archer struck out 12 of the 17 Bombers on the day Holliday 3, Judge 3, Castro 2, Carter 2, Headley 2, 10 K’s came vs RHB

Naturally, the left-handed hitting Jacoby Ellsbury, who went into the game a career .514/.561/.703 hitter against Archer, doubled on the first pitch to leadoff the second. Shrugs again. Two batters later Didi Gregorius got Ellsbury home with a one-out single, and two batters after that Gardner got Gregorius and himself home with a two-out, two-run home run. Eighth dinger of the year for Gardner. He’s hit one more home run than last season in 468 fewer plate appearances. Is that good? That seems good.

M2 Chins is hammering home his point, he wanted more LHB’s in better spots? Ellsbury in 4 AB’s saw 7 pitches, he’s trending further away  from the prototypical see a lot of pitches lead off batter, in this instance Gardner / Ellsbury 1 and 2 would have worked…? So many possibilities so little time, but all  good points

Sabathia was 5 and fly, the  thought was he pitched really well, proving how low the bar has gotten  for NYY starters.

The Dirty Dozen

Sabathia pitched so  well he left 12 outs for a bull pen down one big component, good job CC

First man in Chad Green’s bacon was saved by one of the top  out-field plays of the season performed by Aaron Judge

Judge struck out an alarming 4 times as did his BFF Holliday, but “Judgy”saved the game with this extreme Kiermaier / Pillar type stretch out grab

Green was in to bail Sabathia out in the 6th  with  one  on no outs when Longoria attempted to strike again, but Judge finally stopped the Longoria bleeding

Green relieved Sabathia. 3 2
Longoria flied into double play, right to second to shortstop to first, Dickerson doubled off first. 3 2
Weeks Jr. flied out to left. 3 2

Green pulled a no-no in the 7th  walking the lead off batter, that  stuff leaves a bad taste in Joey Claps mouth…. Two outs and a stolen base later Clippard was in to nail  down the last out vs LHB, Logan Morrison.. It only took him 11 pitches but Clip  got his man on an F/7

Clippard punched out  the first two Devil Rays on 8 pitches, so Joey Claps of course yanked him, apparently Logan Morrison scared Joey, or Betances needed a 4 out save to  stick it to Brillo Levine, that had to be his thinking?

Betances was a monster for 4 outs, in the first real outing on his Fuck U Levine Tour…

It was his second save, but this one carried the mail to Levine

betances

Yanks play  the next  7 vs weak brothers at home… KC who  will  want revenge, and Oakland who just  smacked Boston  around for a series win so beware of a trap home stand

Cashman needs to start  thinking about first base, his Bird Carter experiment hasn’t worked… If Austin and Bird are ready by June, what happens to Carter?

The brother is 9 for 45 with 24 K’s  in May, and went 0 for Tampa

  1. Gleyber Torres, the Yankees top prospect, has been promoted to Triple-A, making the Bronx even more likely for the 20-year-old this year. Gleyber can play short, second and third.

Could mean nothing, it could mean somebody is in trade talks, could be getting him ready if SS, 3rd or 2nd base pull up lame for a DL ?

  2. Mikey Mush continues his MVP season. On Saturday his horse racing expert picked the betting favorite to win the Preakness. That hawse finished 8 out of 10 hawses running, so he did beat 2. Then the expert suggested three other hawses to bet in combinations with the above hawse so that you could retire and buy your own island in the Caribbean when you cashed in your winning tickets. Those three finished 6th, 7th and 9th. Again, only ten ran.
The hawse who won? Nope–not given a chance.
