Hicks and Runs Crush Toronto

with 10 comments

The Yanks took the series opening game in Toronto 12-2,  shocked?

Yes, especially with Marco Estrada on the bump, a change up  artist  who  usually gives the Bombers trouble..

Not last night, his stuff was flat, the Jays were due to  cool  down, and the Bombers showed you something smacking  4  Jays pitchers for 15 hits and 12 runs..

CC Sabathia was gifted 5 runs by the 2nd inning, and he kept the hot Jays line-up in check, while his offense just kept piling on runs scoring in 5 of the 9 innings they came to bat.

Sabathia tossed 6.1 innings, 5 hits, 1 run... Sabathia sent a message early he wasn’t gonna Tanaka this one by punching out Donaldson and Bautista in the first inning, he worked around 2 consecutive singles in the 2nd inning, and the rout was on..

Sabathia owned the inner half last night, the Jays got some loud outs but they  could never finish  the job as CC kept them in the yard

CC

Chad Too Green had a decent bounce back 2.2 innings, he did give up  a garbage time HR, but never let the Jays off the matt

Hit and Run

Formula Joe has finally put Judge and Sanchez together in the line up, he got it right moving his best hitter Judge to  the 3 hole, Sanchez is still batting 2nd, but they’ll be no questioning that today after  the SanBino poked two monster HR’s, which  was great  to  see..

On any other night Sanchez goes back to the hotel with the game ball, but Aaron Hicks had a career game going 4 for 5 with  6 RBI’s and two  runs scored..

Every Yankees starter but Carter and Castro  had at least 1 hit, Gardner, Sanchez and Headley had 2 apiece, Holliday  chipped in with 3 hits, Gregorius and Judge who jump started the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single got 1 knock each

BATTING
2B: Gardner (10, Estrada); Hicks 3 (9, Howell, Campos, Estrada)
HR: Sánchez 2 (6, 2nd inning off Estrada 0 on, 2 Out; 4th inning off Estrada 1 on, 1 Out)
RBI: Judge (38), Hicks 6 (30), Sánchez 3 (15), Headley 2 (23)
2-out RBI: Hicks 4, Sánchez, Headley
Yankees RISP: 5-8 (Headley 2-3, Sánchez 0-1, Gregorius 0-1, Hicks 2-2, Judge 1-1)
Team LOB: 7
FIELDING
DP: 2 (Gregorius-Castro-Carter, Headley-Torreyes-Carter).

the YES Men

the Whole 9

The O’s knocked off Boston  7-5  so  the Bombers picked up  a game on the Red Sox and are 3 in front in the AL East

the Standings

Pineda vs Liriano  tonight

We’ll be out of the office until tomorrow enjoy..

  4. Really Heyman, and with Quintana stinking out the horse stable who is handing Chicago a Sale package for Quintana now, especially after his WBC outings where he was going full bore in March?.. They blew a bonanza haul of course he can still be moved but you’d be crazy to hand over Frazier and Sheffield for Quintana at the moment, maybe he turns it around

I’d hang up on Hahn in a nano second especially after the no HR hitting Red Sox torched him in his last outing

2.2 innings 10 hits, 7 runs all earned, 3 HR’s 5.60 ERA, 1.40 WHIP.. unless a GM wants to get fired and start a career at Staples go for it

The GM of a rival club tells Heyman that he doesn’t think the shaky start to the season for White Sox lefty Jose Quintana will negatively impact his trade value all that much.

While some have suggested that the Sox missed an opportunity to move him this offseason, there are of course still three and a half very affordable years on Quintana’s contract, and his 8.95 K/9 rate is actually a career-best.

  5. Joel Sherman getting ahead of himself, lay off the Adderall Sensie

    If #Bluejays sweep #Yankees, #Orioles take 3-4 from #Redsox records would be: NYY 30-24, Bal 30-25, Bos 30-26, Tor 30-27 #aleast

Now the O’s taking 3 of 4 from the R-Sox would help, might as well take their compass and send them to sea, the Nation would be in turmoil losing 3 of 4 to Baltimore

Jays were hot Boston was hot O’s were terrible Yanks so so the universe balanced itself out some last night…

    • hey Donny, lol so Headless shouldn’t expect a Xmas card from you this yr…. Torres is up to a whopping .267 at AAA, so Head’s in no predicament yet… Carter, I’d keep my bags packed and track down my landlord looking for the security he paid on his rent..
