Bottoms Up !

The Yanks evened up  their 3 game series with Boston winning a laugher 8-0 behind 8 shutout innings from CC Sabathia, and a 10  for 19, two HR  night from the bottom half of the Yankees line-up

In an effort to  shake up  the formula after another team O-fer with RISP on Tuesday night, Psycho Joe moved the struggling but not struggling Gary Sanchez to  the 6 hole and the surging Aaron Hicks to  the 2 hole

Unfortunately Hicks went  0-4, but fortunately Sanchez went 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored.. Good for Sanchez but The Francesa star of the show on offense was  Mendoza Line Chris Hurricane Carter’s 3 for 4 night.. Carter capped the Bombers 8 run explosion off Rick Porcello and  Blaine Chef Boyer d

With our very own DonMoscone in attendance to make sure Joey Claps got his marching orders, Carter “had his NY Yankees coming out party” smacking a 3 run  Tater in the 4th inning that  turned a 2-0 game in to  an insurmountable  5-0 holding pattern.

Castro  led off the inning with  a triple, followed by an RBI single from Sanchez, to make it 2-0… Headley who had a 2 hit night poked a 1 out single before Carter unloaded his monster 400 foot 3 run Dinger to  left field giving CC Sabathia a 5-0 lead

The Yanks tacked on 1 more in the 7th after Gardner reached on an E-4, stole 2nd base and scored on Holliday’s infield single.. Holliday’s knock was the first hit by any Bomber hitting 1 through 4 in the line-up.. 1 thru  4 ended up  2 for 17

The Yanks capped off their scoring in the 8th on a 1 out single from Gregorius, Headley walked, Carter smacked an RBI single to left to make it 7-0 and Gardner followed with an RBI knock to left  topping it off at 8-zip

Gregorius gave the Yanks a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning with his 5th Tater, a 400 foot bomb to  right field.. Porcello  was coming of a 16 pitch 2 inning start  to his night, looking like he had no-hit stuff until Gregorius stood him  up off an 80 MPH change-up

Despite all  the offense that followed, that Gregorius HR may have been the Camel’s back breaker, the hit that un-raveled Boston’s  2016 Cy Young Award winner…

CC Riding

Maybe it was the Charity bowling event on Monday night that inspired CC Sabathia, because he looked like a new man out there last night..

While the charity occasion, attended by both Boston and NY players was an inspirational  gathering, we’d like to think the warrior in Sabathia wanted to be the stopper.

After 2 gut wrenching 1 run losses in a row  to Division rivals, the Yanks were bleeding profusely, Sabathia’s 8 inning, 5 hit, 5 K’s, no  run gem, was exactly what the doctor ordered to stop the blood flow

Commanding the inside of the plate, moving the righties feet, helps with the back  door slider and the change-up

Sabathia’s biggest jam came in the 5th  after Rutledge led off with a triple, but 3 pitches in to the Bradley AB, he snagged a come-backer with his bare hand for the 1-3 put out holding the runner at  3rd..

He took  care of no hit Marrerro on a short F/9, then induced the dangerous Betts to pop up stomping out the rally, keeping the 5-0 lead  and the shutout intact..

After the Rutledge triple, Sabathia wiped out out 12 Red Sox batters in a row to  complete his 8 inning romp on 95 pitches..

Jonathan Holder threw a 10 pitch  9th  to shut it down

  2. I spent a wonderful night at the Mall On Rivera Avenue last night. 2 of my friends were very happy, the other, a Sux fan, was not. He spent most of the game bemoaning that Capt Crunch was throwing a gem.
Patches 3 run bomb made him lose his popcorn over the side.
Walking up to the stadium, around to the gate, & once inside, I was struck by an amazing thing. Wherever you looked, it was inescapable. There was so much “talent” around I almost wrenched my neck as to not miss a thing! One after the other, 20 & 30 somethings were everywhere!
Always a treat & one of the best things about coming out to the ballpark.

  3. I spent my night shvitzing in Arlington watching the Mets/Rangers. One of Rickeys customers gave him
great seats behind home plate with a parking pass-on dollar hot dog night!!-lol Followed the Yanks on my phone, always great to beat the sux. Got to win the series tonight. This is also the anniversary of the Yanks retiring #7 in 1969.This is also the date that he got his liver transplant in 1995.
