The 21 Day Salute

with 14 comments

On  June 12th  the Yanks were 15 games above .500  with a 4 game lead on Boston….

standings

21 days later they’re  sitting 4 games behind the surging Red Sox, they  haven’t won a series in 6 tries vs the Angels, A’s, Angels, Texas, Chicago, and  Houston, 5 losing teams and one juggernaut..

Today  they  could possibly do  the unthinkable and make it 7 straight  failed series vs yet another sub .500 team, after the Woeful crumbling Blue Jays forced them  to  quit on their stool with a 4-1 win..

Since coming back to  the Bronx we’ve had to  sit through another A-Hole-dis Crapman implosion, a no show by the the offense on the 4th of July, and  the insidious Michael Kay  Clown  posse featuring Paul O’Neill who has been fiddling out of tune while the Bronx is burning to  the tune of a 6 and 16 record over the last 22 games

Sans Aaron Judge’s wall  denting Ballantine Blast in the 4th inning   the bats have gone completely silent…. The loudest noise we heard as the Bombers  celebrated America, and  George Steinbrenner’s birthday on July 4th, was the man himself Turning in his Grave..

Can’t blame Papa Steinbrenner, the rest of us are sick of   watching  this garbage too…

While the Bombers resemble the ER at New York-Presbyterian Hospital more then a baseball team since Greg Bird morphed into Nick Johnson,  Holliday, Castro, and Hicks hit the DL, CC Sabathia who  was pitching well until Hurri-K-ane Carter’s E-1 extended his June 13th outing vs the powerful  Trout-less Angel’s, finally returned yesterday

Who’s bright idea was it to have Sabathia rehab start  in a real game vs a MLB team looking for anything to jumpstart  their abysmal  season?

The Booth’s Clown posse was gung ho behind the Sabathia’s start, “why  waste bullets” was the war cry…

Sabathia retired the first eight batters he faced — and then didn’t get another out..

There were  three loud  fly ball outs in the first,  a quick 11 pitch  1-2-3 2nd inning, the 2nd out in the 3rd saw his only punch out…

Sabathia then ran out of gas when a 39 pitch  3 walks, 3 singles, 4 run 3rd inning ended his brief comeback..

He couldn’t put away Barney  the Jays #9 hitter, and lost him to  a BB…A wild pitch put the RISP, Joey Bats danced with him until a hittable sinker ended up  an RBI single… The slumping Russell Martin followed with another single, two  walks and the third knock of the inning made it 4-0.

Adam Warren finished off the  3rd with 0.1 inning..

Luigi Cessa relieved and pitched 4.2 scoreless, a great job

Shreve finished Cessa’s tour of duty 0.1 inning, and Clippard tossed a scoreless 9th, so  the Offense had plenty of time to make some noise, but the fireworks never arrived

Happ put his spikes on the hapless offenses’ neck for 6 innings, allowing  4 hits, 1 run, 1 BB, 6 K’s

The flammable Toronto bull pen waltzed through another 3 scoreless…  8 of the last 13 batters Toronto’s pitchers faced were punched out in a pathetic offensive effort..

The Bombers continue their lifeless run today in an effort avoid complete embarrassment on the field, while YES’s Al Yankzeera continues their shameless promotion of the meaningless  All Star game..

The Yanks have 5 All Stars, but they’re playing like anything but since the Hoopla / pomp and circumstance has been made public…

Hurri-K-ane Carter was given a second chance to  survive his insidious Bomber  career but another dropped ball in the 7th, and yet another O-fer at the plate resulted in his 2nd DFA within  the span of a week

Asked what he would do  with  the useless Carter at his post game presser….All Joe College could come up  with was a…..

At all costs let’s please end that  experiment

Sonny in the Tool Booth

Down 4-1 Judge had a chance to get the Yanks back in this one in the 5th, after Torreyes scraped an infield single, Gardzilla induced a walk, but the Big Hank swung through a 95 MPH fastball that  tipped into Martin’s glove.. Taps

The Bob Steele

general Girardi

Forget the Sabathia outing, Cessa and three relievers kept hope alive, this one is on the Offense: 4 hits on the day….

  1. Keep running guys like Headley in the 5 hole you’re asking for, looking for, and you will find trouble…

Mean while Boston is playing like the Yanks were in April.. A different player goes off every game, last night it was Benintendi wiping the floor with the useless Rangers and their Ace Yu Garbage

  3. yanks off to another inspiring start today, seems like they’re trying to find detours around the wall and have no interest in running through one for Girardi….

Better get those MLBTV interviews up to snuff Joey, because inspiring a team doesn’t seem to be in the cards for you this yr

  6. at this point all you want is for some of the expiring contracts to play well so Cashman can get a good return when they sell at the deadline

Castro, Gardner, Pineda, Tanaka, Holliday, is about all you could trade….

Castro would bring back the best return, he’s signed for 2 more yr’s with a team option….

    Holliday if a team needs a DH…

Tanaka not sure what he’s worth he’s a rental, and if he doesn’t opt out Teams are stuck with his 3 yr $67M

Gardner I flip to get out from under the remaining $20M he has coming, and not worry about a return

Pineda you’d have to give away, or maybe get a lesser prospect… Try to get the team line-up for 2019 like the original plan was before the first 2 months changed things around

Girardi has lost this team, that would be another reason to tank, it’s the only way to get him outta here

  7. Yanks better amp up all that rookie hype, because they’re slowly losing their 2nd half gate.. Maybe pile on more All Star bull shit….. This team is starting to play to what was originally expected this winter as the pitching staff completely implodes

  9. You have to love Ma and Pa
It’s something you don’t expect Betances walking 4 batters lol

It’s something you could have bet the farm on #KoolAidIntoxiction

How can this guy possibly pitch in an All Star game or any game
Joey should have waited a little longer to yank him
At least let him walk 5 guys make sure he really can’t figure it out

    • Sal–You are so correct about it being real baseball. The Tri-Valley Cats in Troy are also part of this league and I have gone there often.. They are an affiliate of the Astros. Saw Ben Zobrist, Jose Altuve and Dallas Keuchel come through here.
Regarding Betances–I see a bunch of 3-2 curve balls. Two of the 4 walks , including the last one were that today. He is throwing around 100. I don’t get it. Psycho Joe said they have to get him going. No shit. How about we get Psycho going—let him rebuild the Whiten Sox in his native city.

  11. hey noogsie… The Betances thing is mind blowing, and I’m with you on he throws 100, but he keeps getting burnt on the hook..

Sounded too me after one of his blown opportunities he’s lost confidence in the FB… Yanks need to stop whining about injuries to Holliday, Castro and Hicks because none of those guys are throwing out not the bull pen, and the bull pen has been the biggest culprit

I wasn’t aware of the Astros affiliate up your way, that’s great you got to see that crew come through, thanks for that info.. Such a different game then the pros, no shifts was the most notable, and the pace of play is very quick.. DePaula got the ball and threw it, I bet he was 11/12 seconds between pitches which is Sale territory per my research

The kid who looked like the best pure player was Oswaldo Cabrera a 3 position infielder, he’s 18 yr’s old.. He didn’t get the headlines last night but you can see the way he plays he’s a talented infielder, last night he played SS with Wilkerman Garcia on the pines or hurt not sure

Pretty sloppy game with a few errors, and the SI Yanks got robbed of a HR by the Umps… That Duchess field has some quirks, one of them is a 2nd wall on top of the first wall… If the ball hits the 2nd wall it’s a HR, it did, this Molina kid hit it but it was ruled a double

Lots of walks in this one, and some timely hits…

Juan De Paula pitched, tall lanky kid, they got him in the Gamel / Pazos deal from Seattle.. Couldn’t see his stuff from the 3rd base line, could only rely on the gun and the AB’s… He hit 92 FB down to the high 70’s breaking ball, and he wasn’t fooling too many batters but he did pitch 6.1 innings, left after putting a few men on base

De Paula from what I read was the lesser of the two prospects.. I missed Guzman the kid they got in the McCann or Beltran deal can’t remember which one… From warm ups he looks like a very athletic kid, and he pitched well in his last outing per the game logs

I read a lot about these players but until you see them play it’s hard to tell what you’re reading.. If I was relying on the box score Cabrera wouldn’t have moved the needle, but from the SS position looked like he was running the whole show
