Thunder and Lightning

Yesterday Kevin Kernan wrote about the bromance forming between Clint Frazier and Aaron Judge…Somebody wrote about how Judge choosing #99 and Frazier #77 have given the two Bomber  corner stones their own identity … Frazier’s explanation : When Fowler gets back hopefully he takes #88 and the new Bomber outfield from left to  right would be 77 / 88 / 99..

While Judge is the “new Jeter”  Frazier already has a keen eye for marketing, and schtick + imagination,  + confidence =  no  deer in the headlights look..

Cashman when pinned in a corner last week said Frazier who  has options would be the odd man out when Babe Hicks gets back, that’s the suit in him talking..

Frazier’s only hope of sleeping in good hotels on the Yankees dime is to catch, throw, and hit the ball without  stringing too many 0-fers in the mix from today  until  the day Hicks is ready to  suit up in Pinstripes, which could be as long as 2 to  3 weeks..

“He can’t control where he lands,” said Jeff Segars, who coached Frazier at Loganville High School outside of Atlanta. “He knows his place and where he is in the organization. But I knew no matter what, once he got a taste of the major leagues, he’s gonna want to get back.”

Two or Three weeks is a lifetime in baseball, sometimes even a new or different season… Look what  just  transpired from June 13th  until July 23rd when the Bombers finally won their first  series in 11 tries

Frazier has already shown enough stuff  to Wally Pip Ellsbury, so it’s not if but when, just keep pecking away

Good Vibrations

Nothing like a win in baseball when you desperately need it and Sunday  was a must win game of sorts.. Before we get to  the dark and gloomy portion of this House of Cards, the Yanks can  start  their week with some positives from the 6-5 road trip

Cashman  finally pulled the trigger on copping a NGBP (no gidrools bull pen)

Two  closers, Chapman and Houdini, two  bridge  guys, Betances and Genghis Kahnle and two hybrid attack  dogs Mow Green and Adam  the Sheriff Warren.. Chapman  is the only one dancing on eggshells at  the moment, obviously his health is an  issue..

His fastball reaches triple-digits, but a sign that something physically is wrong with a pitcher is lack of control and the six walks are a red flag. So, too, is Chapman’s inconsistent release point.

Saying this is troubling might be equivalent to worrying about what guitar Keith Richards is gonna bust out for Start Me Up, but you never have too many relief weapons, especially when  you only have 2 / 5ths of your rotation currently trustworthy

Also on the good vibrations list is the WoodPecker, who  came to  the rescue just in time.. With Judge rehabbing and slumping  from his strenuous Aaron Judge Week in Miami, and the SanBino mired in sophomore jinx-ish type quagmire, #77 was fresh  air in the room

Hopefully they  can  roll  down the windows and keep it coming…

Seven Prospects I Wouldn’t Trade for Risks and Rentals

Can’t argue with NJ.com’s 7 mid-level prospects the Yanks probably have dangling as bait, but you don’t have to like it..

It was a tough pill to  swallow trading away  a top  18 first  round draft  pick, but the return  so  far has sparked the troops… The Toddfather still isn’t hitting, but the residual affect  has been Headley finding a platoon home vs RHP

So  a potential jolt, even if it’s temporary, Headley isn’t going anywhere, and it’s better he hit and play  well …

The two obvious top of the rotation  pitchers talked about are Sonny Gray  and Yu Darvish.. Joel Sherman  has mentioned   the Marlins’ Dan Straily

Every one of these pitchers are commanding a Quintana / Sale light type package… Every one has a reason to  stay  away if you’re the Yanks, and trading any of the above for one of them might be a mistake..

Darvish is a rental, and there are a laundry list  of reasons why the Rangers don’t want to  flip him, to  save time we’ll stick with  they’re still in the Wild Card race…

Gray is simply an injury risk, you can  see clearly him making it through August, then coming up lame in September and either his stuff becomes compromised or he hits the DL, either way  that’s useless to  the Yanks, especially at the cost of potential upside…

I’m not familiar with Straily but Sherman has done the heavy lifting and his numbers compare to Quintana… One red flag, he’s been pitching in the NL, specifically the NL East, and that  might be equivalent to buying into Colorado Rockies offensive numbers ?

Sherman brings up numerous prospects who have flourished in MLB that  weren’t on any top  100 prospect list, and he also  brings up  some that  were and bombed like Jesus Montero who  was rated #4 by MLB

So  you can hang onto  your prospect porn until their reference page turns brown and they  won’t pan out ( Mason Williams) so it’s a crap  shoot…

Anybody wanna trust Cashman  at the Tables in Atlantic City ?? Stand in line the bus arrives in 30 minutes, me I’m hightailing it back to  the mountains..

    • Hey fellas
Let’s hope Cashman doesn’t fuck this up
Now the pundits are writing Yanks are in the lead for Gray

But Florial is the target 1 of 4 prospects
They cleaned out Rutherford now they’ll clear out Big Flo

Damn next Mateo will be going for another injury prone pitcher

Brewers supposed to be out that’s because they’re fucking smart

Gray is a DL waiting to happen
It won’t be pretty if Gray comes to NY and Florial is in the package

  3. Good job by 2 chins

Gotta love Mike Axisa at CBS

    4. I think my favorite thing about the new-look bullpen — aside from the general awesomeness and added depth — is that it is basically Joe Girardi proof. Girardi assigns his relievers specific innings and rarely deviates from that plan, for better or worse.

  4. The best part of “Smokin” Clint Frazier playing so well is how he really messes up the redic bromance Clippy had with the doughboy.
Hated his smirky justifications every postgame. ” he had good at bats” keeeerist how i hate that phrase.
A base hit, an RBI, an Xtra base hit !
THAT is a ” quality AB” you dickwads
